  1. After the discovery of the fantastic @Uncle_Sam 's Pro/Rel custom database I have been inspired to start a new game in North America. I think there's loads of potential for North America to become a world soccer superpower, and I think a lot of people want promotion and relegation to create a more competitive league pyramid. It would certainly make things much more interesting and I for one would be much more interested in the MLS etc. So - I've loaded the American, Canadian and Mexican leagues, and started unemployed with no badges or experience. I will accept the first job i'm offered - let's hope i get offered one..! The aim - work my way up through the divisions and try to see as much of this great part of the world as I can.
  2. This is a purely fictional mod, there are no real current American or Canadian teams present in the database. Also full disclosure, I'm British, so forgive any cultural mistakes. The italic text below is fictional background story to give some context to the database. It's a bit far-fetched, but given it's describing something that never happened I figured it kind of had to be. Read it or don't, that's up to you. Makes it more interesting though The year is 1869. The era of the steam train is well under way, cutting journey times into tiny fractions of what they were only decades earlier, and a new import has made its way across the Atlantic: football. British immigrants with fond memories of watching and playing organised, semi-professional football under the authority of the newly-formed English Football Association start their own, new teams in the cities and townships of America. Unlike our own universe, the sport takes off immediately, with American audiences quickly forming loyal and intense attachments to teams representing their local areas and businesses. Football quickly becomes the most popular sport in America, and by the turn of the century there are over 200 clubs playing the professional game across 14 large and varying regions. The number of professional and semi-professional clubs continues to grow well into the 20th century, despite two years pause between 1916 and 1918, and in 1932 a record attendance of 174,883 is set for the final of the US Cup between Manhatten Borough and Cleveland United at Hammond Road, Chicago IL, with a whopping $400,000 up for grabs. Cleveland come out on top in a narrow 2-1 win, with captain Harry Biggs scoring a dramatic 88th minute winner in front of the 70,000 ecstatic United fans. The invasion of Pearl Harbour in 1941 and the subsequent entry of the United States into World War Two grounds the professional game until 1946. After the war, football continues to grow, and a number of official regions begin to merge due to shorter travel times. On June 5th, 1958, the AFA holds a vote in Milwaukee, WI, on the matter of forming America's first national league, with advancements in air travel over the course of the previous two decades allowing teams to make much longer trips. Two of the ten board members vote against the motion, citing jet lag concerns and low numbers of travelling fans, but the majority vote to go ahead, and the National Division 1 is formed. The move proves to be a great success, with millions upon millions of expectant fans tuning into their wireless each Saturday afternoon to listen to their teams playing far-off cities in the hopes of a win. The average attendance to a Division 1 game in 1960 is 84,233. The radio advertising industry swells, and within 5 years a second national division is formed. The explosion of television expands the market yet further, and by 1980 there are four major national divisions, with a tree of increasingly regional professional and semi-professional leagues below them. Further alterations to the football pyramid in 1989, 1996 and most recently in 2009, have now left us with 7 national divisions, with a competitive and complex pyramid of regional divisions beneath these, and a wealth of major and minor cups and shields. The US National Team are the favourites for the 2018 World Cup, and the 2016-17 domestic season saw yet another record average attendance of 112,988. Sound interesting? This is the plan: This is not a simple database edit, it is to be a fully-packaged mod containing a comprehensive custom database and a set of fictional kits and logos to be put into your graphics folder. It is my aim to give each fictional team a real identity, with real depth. It is to be a long-term project which I can hopefully port over to future iterations of FM. No fields will be left blank, so here are some of the things you can expect to have been covered: All the usual data - rep, morale, status, ownership, rivals, attendance, season tickets, finances etc Home/Away/Third Kit Logo Last 5 years league history Records Bespoke stadium with location/local-culture-based name and unique capacity/expansion capacity I plan to add roughly 1,200 teams over 50-60 leagues with full promotion and relegation. The top 7 will be national (might lower this to 6), with a regional pyramid below. Clubs will be almost all professional from levels 1-8, and largely semi-professional with the ocassional amataeur team below. Each division will have at least 2 automatic promotions spots, with four more teams qualifying for an English-style playoff. Relegation will be decided by a combination of automatic relegation and relegation playoffs. Given the larger population of the US compared to England, there will be a less significant gap in attendance, finance, ability etc between tiers. Tier 2 for example will still have huge teams from major cities with 80k+ attendances. Tier 4 roughly 30k attendances, Tier 7 perhaps 10k. I plan to create a team for every city in this list (and major cities will have multiple): https://www.biggestuscities.com/ If your hometown/city is not on this list and you'd like it to have a team in the database, feel free to comment below and I'll add it in. Beware though, if it's a very small town you'll be stuck with a poor amateur club in the lowest reaches Edit: I can add you as a player too. If there is sufficient interest in this I'll aim to have a playable 'BETA' of just the top division by December 10th, with the rest being rolled out in stages/updates.
  3. America, land of the free and now, thanks to @Uncle_Sam's awesome database located here I can manage in the USA like never before, but I'm going to hopefully explore these states using @PaulHartman71's idea of accepting every job that comes to him, I'm going to be the American 'Yes Man'. I should probably say why I'm managing in America, or where my interest has been piqued, well it's not because of the MLS, obviously that would be the pinnacle for in the game though. It's because in real life the majority of the football I'm watching is from the USL thanks to them broadcasting every game live on their YouTube channel, located here. Leagues loaded: All of the USA, I may include Mexico further down the line, I may not. Players loaded: Everyone based in North America. I'm starting unemployed with no experience, I am Hank Brown, and I am from Idaho.
  4. Hi Guys, I created a new competition structure based in the United States of America. I would like to hear your opinion about this league. You can visit the workshop here: Steam Workshop Link I tested a season with LA Galaxy and FC Dallas and I really enjoyed this game set-up. I am going to start a story about this league next week (after my exams). The challenge The American competition contains decent teams with some top players like Dos Santos. Your first season will be difficult due to the limited transfer budget. With the increased TV and price money your financial possibilities improve after the first season. Your goal is the end in the top 5 of the Trump League One. This top 5 compete in a play-offs to determine the overall champion of the league. Try to stay away from the bottom 5 of the league. The bottom 5 compete with the top 5 of the lower league for a chance of promotion. The story The president of the USA Donald Trump decided to change the league structure of American soccer. He didn't liked the fact that Mexico was always beating the American teams. His administration invented a new league structure based on only 10 teams. Competition Set-up 10 teams Trump League One 10 teams Trump Promotions League 10 teams Third Trump League 10 teams Fourth Trump League 20 teams Lower Trump League August start of main competition December start of the main cup January start of the transfer break February start of the promotions competition Trump League One Toronto FC, New York Red Bulls, FC Dallas, New England, Real Salt Lake, Columbus, Los Angeles Galaxy, Houston, San Jose, D.C. United Trump Promotions League Seattle, Philadelphia, NYCFC, Portland, Vancouver, Montreal Impact, Orando City, Sporting Kansas City, Chicago, Colorado Cups Most of the Trump Cup matches are played in December. The Trump Super Cup is played on 1st of August.
  5. Hello, everyone. This is my first post and I am fairly new to FM and it's community. I have restructured the MLS and the leagues in the U.S.A in FM Editor so they act more like European leagues. The league works well although I would love it if I could play in CL and EL instead of the North American Champions League. I do not want to mess with country's coefficients and I am okay with my custom league entering UEFA with a coefficient of 0. Also, I simulated 20 years into the future and no lower league team established themselves in the top division. I know 20 years is not a long time, but if there is an obvious thing I am missing as an first time user of the FM Editor let me know. Please let me know how to fix these problems. Thanks!!
