  1. Wait is over. Database is finally ready for release. In "last minute" I've decided to add another cup competition - Indoor championship for clubs of Croatian First League which was last played in 2009... Now, you can take control of every club in Croatia from 1st to 7th level. Except this "pyramid" database I've added pdf file with competition names on Croatian and English and database with legendary Croatian footballers. Some defunct clubs have been activated again, you'll see change in 2nd league or some lower levels... Also, you can take control of B teams when you find them... Only issue this database has, are regional divisions. Regional divisions are set for all clubs. However, number of clubs in each is league is "fixed" - maximum and minimum number of clubs is same. I had to do this because, unfortunately, when changing maximum and minimum number of clubs in league, after couple of seasons competitions stopped scheduling. So, it's possible that clubs change their county league in next season. It's not often but it's not rare either... Anyway, while playing county cup, you'll play against clubs that are in your county. For conclusion, I can say this is real Croatian football pyramid with custom tweaks and additions (custom promotions and relegations, added defunct clubs with squads etc.)... Around Christmas I'll add another update...Current version is 6.9. You can download this on link below: 20162017v69.7z Original post from October 12th Hi people! To mark my 10 year anniversary of playing FM I've decieded to create Croatian Football System - real pyramid with some custom tweaks for Football Manager 2017. I am working on this project for several months now and there is more than 100 000 changes... I was trying to do this for long time, but this year I took a serious approach... Currently, I'm working in FM2016 Editor and hopefully I will import this database in FM2017 Editor and game too. So what can you expect? 1. All league competitions in Croatia from 1st to 7th level with custom promotions/regulations, but close to "real life". 2. Real league rules such as number of foreign players, number of U21/U22 players in first 11, etc. 3. National and county cups with some my tweaks to make things more simple. 4. Real squads in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th level. (Sadly, for most lower leagues players I dont know playing positions, but in future updates I'll try to improve that and I'll add players for 6th and 7th level too.) 5. Text file containing English names for Croatian competitions, because competitions will carry Croatian names. 6. Real team colours, stadiums, managers. (However, when starting new game you'll need to tick option "Add key staff" because lower league clubs in Croatia rarely have assistant manager, scout, or even physio.) 7. Special database containing legendary footballers from Croatia and Croatian First Division. (They will be 18-year old players and they'll start career whete they started in real life. CA and PA will be used from older versions of FM. 8. Real media sources. 9. For now I'm not sure, but I could activate some defunct clubs with historic squads to play in Croatian Second Division, so it could be expanded from 12 to 18 clubs. 10. Some lower league clubs will be "sugar daddy" to make game more interesting. 11. Clubs will be added to some leagues to avoid odd number of clubs in legaues. If you have any questions feel free to ask...I'll add screens in following days, so you can see progress. I expexct to release database soon after release of FM2017.
  2. Hi, I'm having a serious issue here. Since a few days ago I've been trying to play my FM18 on laptop and it was forced to close right after I started the game. Crash dump files were generated and I've attached those files in this forum as well. I would appreciate it if someone could help me with it. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the game but no help. The same problem still occurred. FM 2018 v18.3.3.1074698 (2018.05.24 19.42.37).dmp FM 2018 v18.3.3.1074698 (2018.05.24 19.47.40).dmp
  3. What are some of the ways that people improve finances of a team? I know selling players, playing bigger teams in friendlies are both ways of doing this. I think cash strapped teams are always fun to play with, makes you consider every aspect of your team. Do you need 8 scouts? What youth players should I look to improve and develop to bring into the first team next season etc. Leave your thoughts below, thanks!
  4. So i dont understand why pepole cant make real life stadiums mods. I read a simular post about this and pepole say that sports Interactive has locked this or something, but common surely somone has to do it. The stadiums that are in the game right now sucks and id like real life stadiums. i Think it kind of ruins the atmosphere during games. Sorry for my bad writing and english.
  5. I am writing an alternate history for a UK football team and although the leagues remain the same, there is a UK-wide football competition replacing the Scottish League Cup, Football League Cup, and Welsh Football League Cup, and is also open to teams in the Northern Ireland Football League. I have tried to use the FM editor, but suffice it to say I am useless with editing/ modding etc. So I am here to ask if anyone would be interested in doing this? Ideally it would go as far back as the 60's, but even just a couple of years would be great. I'll rewrite the timeline to start the competition from wherever it can be simulated from. I'll write up the results on this page - http://althistory.wikia.com/wiki/UKFA_Cup_(UKatWC)#results and individual pages detailing each years competition. Thanks for reading!
  6. I am starting to become fed up with FM18. I am in my 4th season with Crystal Palace (My Own Team I Support) and I just can't establish any consistency. I have finished between 9th and 13th every season but playing games are just so frustrating for a number of reasons. No. 1: This one drives me up the wall the most. My players are brutal for conceding within 5-10 minutes after we score a goal, I mean every game. We score a goal within two minutes the other team goes up the pitch on the attack and scores, even though my team has good concentration stats, I can't tell you how many pens I've snapped because of this!! No. 2: Like the concentration stats, my players also have decent passing stats but the amount of goals that we concede because of sloppy passes from my own players is scandalous. No. 3: I have two four star strikers that have finishing stats of 17 and 18 that can't seem to hit the back of the net from 6 yards, even in their natural advanced forward role. And then some second rate striker with a finishing stat of 11 will bag a brace for the opposition with ease. No. 4: Penalties! Luka Milivojevic is my set penalty taker but no matter who takes them we miss around 3-4/5 penalties and Butland or Plizzari in goal for me have yet to save a penalty in the four seasons. I have tried everything to fix these problems, I've tried using different tactics with different roles. I have hired some of the best defensive coaches in the game and played with a well structured tactic and still can't stop conceding. The tactic I use is the same one I used to use in FM16 and I qualified for the Champions League nearly every season with a much less talented team than the one I have now. If anyone has any help as to how I can fix these problems it would be much appreciated, because I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. This is my team and tactics.
  7. So the three stands that are left, right and bottom are all being upgraded but they are all greyed out. Anyone know why?
  8. After under about an hour of just browsing on fm (pre season i have yet to play a match) the game crashes and creates a crash dump. FM 2018 v18.2.2.1055984 (2018.02.09 12.54.04).dmp Help would be appreciated. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, still same crash happens.

  11. Hi. I’ve just bought and downloaded FM18 and it won’t load. It says running but doesn’t load, no matter how long I leave it. I’ve read some of the threads, and I’ve seen that some antivirus software can interfere, but I’ve paid a lot of money for Norton antivirus and don’t want to get rid of it for a game? Surely there is another way round this? Help!

  13. What is you success story in any Football Manager iteration? Here's mine. In just 10 game years in 1 week of play, I have become the greatest manager in the game, surpassing Ferguson. I did it by winning 2 champions league trophies, 2 world cup trophies, 6 premier league titles, one confederations cup trophy, 3 FA cup trophies, 3 league cup trophies, and a dozen other minor trophies. And yes, I did it by cheating a bit. So I started with Bristol city in the championship, promoted them in the first season and won the first FA cup. Halfway through the premier league, I was approached by Aston villa, signed with them and finished 2nd the next season, and won the first champions league trophy. Three months into the next season I was approached by Man City and took them through 7 years of winning trophies. Also in that time I won the world cup with England and won the following world cup with Holland. When my reputation became legendary clubs and nations were offering me jobs quite often and I had to refuse. I was playing on football manager 2009 by the way, so by 2018 game time, I had resigned after becoming the greatest manager as seen in these pictures So what is your success story, have you become the greatest manager, with or without cheating ?
  14. Few weeks ago I have started a new save with Ajax, trying to replicate the style that Peter Bosz has brought to the young team. I have been playing two seasons now with quite some game fun and success (2 x league champions, 1 x semi-final UEL and in the 2nd season winners of the UEL), however until the recent european matches of Ajax I wasn't quite sure if that high pressing style would also work in real life - but we have seen it can work Total Football in a new realistic way. Therefore I wanted to share my attempt that worked quite well for me. Formation: On paper the typical Ajax formation is a 4-3-3, with a defensive midfielder/controller (a number 6) in front of the back-four and strong focus on wing-play. In ball-posession this quickly becomes a 1-2-3-2-3 (including the goalkeeper), given you 5 lines of players with lots 'diamond' options to pass the ball around. Tactics: The tactics below i am using gets me closest to the Ajax way of playing a setup. Even though Ajax is playing with an Advanced Playmaker (Ziyech) and BtB midfielder (Klaassen), it did not work well for me as these specialist roles were defensively not working out in the transition from ball possession to ball loss. But in the player descriptions below i will try to explain the work arounds i have found for this. More info on this specialist role in combination with Very Fluid mentality can be found here: https://community.sigames.com/topic/295001-how-to-play-fm-a-twelve-step-guide/ Team Instructions I let my team train on these 2 different team instructions: Mentality - Standard / Contain: here im using a less attacking mentality than expected and go for Standard in 'easy' matches, and even tone it down to 'Contain' in tough away games. This does not mean the team is playing defensive football! In contrary i must say, because the player roles are attacking minded the players have a natural tendency to think attacking - having a contain mentality just makes them think more realistic on how to attack, which is where the 'realistic total football' comes out and play! Whats very important to add is that I increase the tempo when i bring the mentality back from Standard to Contain. The reason was mentioned by Johan Cruyff itself, as he found that the best way to come out of pressure from your opponent is to increase the tempo of playing the ball around. Shape - Very Fluid: To make sure the 5 lines play as closes as possible together its obvious that a Very Fluid team shape is the best way to go. Also this shape gets you closest to the concept of total football when pressure has to be put on the opposite players by 4-5 players together. Width - Fairly Narrow: A narrow width makes it easier for the players to return to their defensive position and help each other in hunting the opposition down, making sure they get pressured. It will make the closing down more effective, but also give you better pass completion - especially with the higher tempo very useful. Push Higher up + Offside trap: On max to make the closing down work best Closing down much more: Again on the fullest, only in matches where im already ahead or can see the players are extremely tired i'll scale back Prevent short GK distr.: To put more pressure on the opposition Marking: I leave this off as man-marking makes the defensive vulrenable, but its crucial the defenders and midfield players have decent positioning stats to make it work Get stuck in: Only applied against much stronger opponents (but important to ease of tackling in player instructions once a player gets yellow) Play out of defence: Experienced this works better as it avoids stupid passes from defenders into space. Important though that the defenders have a good composure and passing skills to avoid them getting harassed and loose ball. Pass into space: With inside forwards or wingers luring at the back of the defenders this is a very useful instruction. Only in case the opposition has placed the bus in front of the goal i sometimes remove it to avoid loosing ball too much. Short passing: On short because of the high tempo. Retain possession: When start the match I have this ticked to get the control, when the match is still 0-0 at 60 mins and im having the overhand i'll tick this off to increase tempo and take some more risks Be more expressive: This makes your matches great to watch, as it give your players the ability to use their flair and instinct. I feel that when playing with Ajax this is a must and it helps them to do some unexpected things (and i havent experienced negative sides of this instruction) Work ball into box: In this tactic you will already get a vast amount of chances, therefore i found that it decreases the amount of wasted chances significant by having this ticked. Occasionally i will also use Look for Overlap if im the better team and it helps to overload the opposition defence. Whipped crosses: With the striker and two attacking midfielders often making forward runs it works well with whipped crosses where the ball comes in with more power and curl. Roam from positions: Making the attacks more unpredictable, and again didnt see any negatives occuring when having this on. Players and Positions / Instructions For my first team I have set some requirements on the attribute i think are crucial to make this tactic work best. Im therefore selection the first squad members on the following 14 (whats in a number) key attributes: Technique, Passing, First Touch, Composure, Anticipation, Decisions, Vision, Off The Ball, Positioning, Work Rate, Teamwork, Agility, Acceleration and Determination. I have therefore setup a squad view to help getting a good view on the strengths and weaknesses of the team, and im working with some minimums I require from the players to have. On the player positions I found the following to work best and coherent with each other: SK (S): With the high defensive line a Sweeper Keeper is a must to pick up some dangerous through balls. WB (S): The wingback is best role to make sure the backs push higher up, support the midfield and make sure the wingers are covered. I don't have them overlapping or on attack duty as it becomes very vulnerable and also i want the wingers / inside forwards to dribble and attack as they are more equipped. Additional PI: Cross from the deep BPD (D): Ball-playing as they dare to play directly to wingers, who can then come easily in a one-2-one situation against the opposite back. Additional PI: Dribble more, only if the stats are allowing, but it can help pushing the team further up when the BPD dribbles forward with the ball. DLP (S): The only 'specialist' role, but after testing all roles this one gives the best balance. Only thing im not satisfied with is that he still drops in between the two central defenders from time to time. Im learning each DLP to have 'Gets into opposition area' as preferred move, to give them a push forward. CM (A) (right): On the right sided CM I'm applying a more box-2-box midfielder approach, meaning i take a player with high work rate, teamwork, stamina and positioning. CM (A) (left): After trying the Advanced Playmaker i found that CM (A) actually works better in this setup with very fluid and more expressive team instructions. However to replicate some of the playmaker traits I have 'Dribble more' and 'More risky passes' ticked. W / IF (S): Wingers or inside forwards are crucial in this system (i prefer wingers to avoid cluttering the penalty box). I always choose players with high stats on Dribbling, Acceleration and Crossing. But very important also that they have decent Teamwork and Work Rate stats as the pressure push starts often with them. The Support duty is on as I experienced that this makes them less go into stupid dribbling attempts, trying to pass 3 or 4 players. I have ticked 'Get Further Forward' to get them in more advanced positions (which they lack a bit when they are not on attack duty) DLF (S): I found this role give the best balance of the striker spearheading the attack and dropping slightly deeper, dragging out defenders and making gaps for wingers or the midfielders coming in. Opposition Instructions: Maybe not the first thing to think of when making a winning tactic, but during the first season I found that tweaking did might be the missing link. Currently i have closing down on 'always' for all opposition defenders and defensive midfielders, as this puts the immediate pressure on them when my team looses the ball. When doing this on the whole opposition team I found that it caused some unwanted gaps due to defenders running out of position and through balls where too easy. With Closing Down More ticked in the Team Instruction your team already hassles opponents when they come on your half - therefore adding it to do so on opposite midfielders and attackers becomes too much. This is where the 'realistic' part kicks in, in the total football Training: In pre-season on max 50% match-training focussed on Match Tactics, to get the team familiar with this tactic as fast as possible. After that I switch between Attacking movement or Defensive positioning depending on the advice of the AM. General training I rotate during the season between Attacking (40%), Tactical (30%), Fitness (20%) and Ball-Control (10%). Results with Ajax: 1st season: 1 x Dutch Premier Division, Semi-Final UEL 2nd season: 1 x Dutch Premier Division, Winners UEL Highlights: UEL final against Arsenal, they did not stand a chance.. a great victory in the UEL away against Napoli (1-5!) Another great away win, as this tactic works very well in away games when getting some more space Last league standing, played the last 2 games with youth and lost unfortunately. 16. Hello, so here i have a question in football manager, the manager earns salary, awards, records but what about it? its like there is no life of manager, i suggest developers to add life of manager to the game, like one day even managers child is playing football and selected in his team. suggest to add Home, Wife, Team outings, team party, more lively, places where manager can spend money, some real life problems like past career or personal life due to it professional life getting spoiled. also i would suggest stadium costs as well as construction to be in more detail. stadium designs, kit design, club name change, or any other corporate work to be more realistic and detailed more animation if possible as like, if manager could walk in office and training, players knocking if the want to talk, more talking and clearing issues. if any new player arrives and he has problems with the squad how to deal with that. and all of this with actual game play and not text based game. please see to it and revert.
  17. I am writing concerning one of the many enjoyable games that you publish, Football Manager.I as well as many others enjoy this fantastic simulation experience that you have created.I would like you to consider adding this game to the xbox one. I understand that you have already released this game on xbox 360 many years ago and that sales were not good enough for you to do this again. I was one of the people that bought this game for xbox 360 having previously enjoyed the PC experience. But after purchasing the game I realised there was one major flaw on your part. The game was not online. Since Xbox Live was the main attraction of purchasing an Xbox, it was a very bad decision on your part to make this game only playable offline.I am requesting that you once again make this game available for the Xbox one but this time allow it to be playable online with the full experience just as it is on PC.I realise there is a concern of sales and profit etc. Therefore I suggest that you make it only available through the Xbox Store, this will cut down on distribution costs and on hard copies of the game. I in no wise understand all the costs to create and distribute a game such as this but I trust that an experienced company such as yourselves can make this work.Thank you for your time.A sincere football fan.

  22. If you're part of the FM Slack community you've probably seen that I've been a bit annoying recently (or at least I feel that I have) as I've been in a bit of "management limbo". No matter how many different saves I loaded, no matter what leagues I picked, I could not get stuck in to a save. Many of you guys reading this probably know that feeling all too well right? It's almost as if you're under an "FM Curse". Arsene Wenger knows of the struggle to find an FM save that sticks Then it hit me - the reason I can't get stuck in to a new save is because of the way I left the Brondby save - unfinished, unfulfilled, a huge amount of unfulfilled potential in what could have been an epic journey to European glory. In fact, the whole thing barely got off the ground after the first couple of posts. After talking to some fellow FMers, I felt that it was only right that I go back to Denmark. I reread my post "Identity, Ethos and Philosophy" and it really hit me why I wanted to play as Brondby in the first place. It ties in with everything that I try to do on FM - run a sustainable, reputable football club, echoing the great sides of yesteryear. Bringing through the cream of the crop in Denmark and mixing them with the best talent worldwide. And finally, to tell a story of the rise of a football club to global dominance. That's why we post and stream our FM saves, isn't it? Let's go back to the beginning... The FM fire is burning again... I hit New Career Game, loaded up the leagues, and got cracking... Just the one month's worth of in game play time right now to ease myself back in to blogging and playing the game again, and I'm absolutely loving it. It's been a decent start, with the main achievement being progressing in to the Europa League third round qualifiers. We love scoring only two goals against teams, which makes me a little uneasy. However the squad are still learning my tactic, which I'll detail in future blogs. I'm now using the 17.3.0 update so the squad is a little different from before. However, the core of the side is still the same. If we're to do well this year, we'll be looking to on loan midfielder Hany Mukhtar for inspiration. He's on loan from Benfica for one season, and I'd love to keep him at the club permanently. Benedikt Rocker will have to be the rock at the back, whilst striker Teemu Pukki will once again lead the line. The future of Brondby - 16 year old Karl Appelt is one to watch A major focus of this year is going to be blooding the youngsters currently in the first team squad. I mentioned Karl Appelt as the main youth prospect in my first attempt, and he's still the pick of the bunch at just 16 years old. He's not the only one now though, as centre back Joel Kabongo, attacking midfielder Rezan Corlu and striker Gustaf Nilsson will all feature this season. By opting to do this, I've also really cut back on my transfers so as to ensure they actually do get some playing time. We've only made two signings this summer - defensive midfielder Mavin Schulz joins us on loan from Monchengladbach for this season, whilst Argentine Emmanuel Ledesma gives us more options on the flanks. The aims for this season is to give the Superliga a good go. I'm not expecting us to win it as Copenhagen are very strong, but you never know what could happen. However opting to play the youngsters may cost us slightly, but I'm prepared to take the "hit" now for long term success. We're all set up again now, and I'm stupidly excited to start playing this save again. Let's just hope the FM Curse has been lifted. To keep up to date when the next post goes live, follow me on Twitter (@registafm) and also my blog for other posts related to FM!
  23. I am thinking of buying FM Touch 2017 but before I buy it at full price do you think it will get discounted soon like the mobile version?
  24. This is what I would like as well but theoretically it should actually be very easy to put together. You just need to merge a legendary player database with a World League database that somebody else has already put together. The key thing is that the player database must only have changes to players and mustn't have any changes to the clubs. I tried this with another legends database but failed because the clubs had been fiddled with. I'm really keen on this idea because it would make a really tough challenge. Once you win the Champions League with a small club it's difficult to get enthusiastic about a new save. In any case I think you're doing fantastic work here.
  25. Post some funny things that have happened to you here! (Screenshots, videos, etc.)
