  1. The Spartans A journey to make Spartans relevant. I was looking for a long term save to start during this work from home period, started a Bolivian league save but everything broke after 1 season so went for a more tried and tested database and the Scottish adventure began. Choosing a team was easy when I looked and saw one called Spartans, big fan of the races and lock down has had me miss a few events this year. A quick look into their history, based in Edinburgh and never been in the football league. First challenge is to get into the league, secondly become the best team in Edinburgh, thirdly best team in Scotland and finally best in Europe and worldwide. The team selected, game loaded it was time to begin. First things first, new kits. I have completed 2 season already before deciding to write this so will give a quick run through so everything is caught up. Season 1 Started poorly, we went with a 4-1-4-1 formation and controlling possession tactics. The possession controlling seemed to work but we struggled at the attacking end of the pitch scoring just 36 goals in 30 games the only reason we finished so high in the league was we conceded just 16 goals. Overall we were involved in quite a few competitions so here is a summary; Lowland League - 3rd Scottish Cup - 4th Round Betfred Cup - Group stage- 5th IRN-BRU Cup - 1st Round SFA South Challenge Cup - Runners up East of Scotland Qualifying Cup - Winners Lowland League Cup - 1st Round Biggest takes from this were, Scottish cup was great for income, beat Berwick from league above us in the second round then got a divisional rival in East Kilbride in the third round. Falkirk beat us after an own goal from the halfway line ended our chances and Tolmie’s Spartans career. The league showed we are a good side but need to be more attacking so that was my mine drive going into the second season. I didn’t see the need for wholesale changes so secured our better players to additional years on contract and brought in 4 new signings during the summer. Season 2 This season started a lot better, I have decided to change the tactics and move to a 4-2-3-1 with the extra midfielder going forward hopefully enough to get me the goals I craved. Mix this with my biggest summer signings Lewis Small and Aidan Wilson we would hopefully have a successful season. The fixtures speak for themselves, just the two losses all season (which I still don't understand) and we set records for most wins, points, wins in a row, games without losing, highest avg rating and most goals by a player. In the rest of the competitions we did fairly well in the cups the board does not care about and just about scrapped the results needed in the cups we were judged on. Here are the results in a nice easy to read form. Lowland League - 1st Playoff Lowland/Highland - Winners League 2 Relegation Playoff - Winners Scottish Cup - 3rd Round Betfred Cup - Not entered IRN-BRU Cup - 1st Round SFA South Challenge Cup - Winners East of Scotland Qualifying Cup - Winners Lowland League Cup - Semi Finals The league itself has issues with competitiveness as most teams let too many players go in the off-season and didn't replace them. A lot also had loanees that would not work now as bigger teams did not want to loan to clubs our size, I tried many times to get a senior affiliate (for money more than players) but failed every time. One benefit/bug I found was I could sign players to a youth contract on £5 a week and only give them a real contract if there was interest. This mean 4 or 5 players on top wages close to £100 a week took up half my budget and then the rest was a few youth academy players (can't afford to keep them all), players on youth contracts and rotation players who I had to give part time contracts to so that they stayed. This brings us nicely onto finances. On average our wage bill second year was £650-700 a week, rather than the £1200 in the first year so over the season we saved £26,000. This mixed with some good cup runs, in the low paying cups, meant we finish the season with -£11,000. Not great but much better than peak debt of -£62,890. I cannot see anything that says stadium sizes in the rules for League 2 so hopefully that's not an issue though last home game of the season I got a notification saying we were leaving Ainsle Park so not sure what's going on there as no building work or anything going on. Moving forward the squad want to challenge for playoffs next year, I think it might be an issue getting players of the right caliber but its wait and see for now, Scottish clubs have released players on the save so begins a few hours of trawling looking for the right guys, particularly a GK and LW. Around the World. Scotland England Rest of Europe If anyone wants info on anything let me know, playing on FM19 with Scotland as only playable but big European leagues viewable Planning to post a pre, mid and post season update from here on out.
  2. This is my video series of FC United on FM19. Here is the the forth episode. It's the best one so far but still needs major improvements for subsequent episodes:
  3. I have created a new gegenpress based tactic after being successful with my previous wing play tactic. Here are some ss regarding the tactic:
  4. Anyone have any tips for finding wonderkids ? Ive followed the tip here https://www.footballmanagerblog.org/2018/12/fm19-guide-easily-find-wonderkids-football-manager.html And going through this link https://dictatethegame.com/2019/09/09/finding-wonderkids/ But is there anything else I could to uncover wonderkids/rough diamond ? Thanks
  5. Just started a game with Dinamo and as I have Dani Olmo and Lovro Majer Im looking for a tactic that would incorporate at least 1 of them or even both Thanks for you help.
  6. I'm always interested in starting a save in other countries, this time its South America, just started a save with Colo Colo and a save with River Plate, which other teams should I have a go at. Peru, Columbia, Brazil and Uruguay are left. There's a thread about Brazil so Ill give that a read. I like teams with youth players with potential and facilities. Could anyone advise ? Thanks
  7. Hello FM fans and readers, i am from India and Manchester United die hard fan.. Hereby without taking much time, i am starting my personal FM19 journey... I hope you will enjoy it and also hope you will guide me to play to the best of my capabilities... Ok so i am starting with my favourite club Manchester United, season 2018-19. I had attached image of my Summer transfer deals, i desperately wanted to sell Sanchez, Mata, Fellaini, Smalling, Matic, Valencia, Darmian and Rojo, however i succeeded only in selling Sanchez and Darmian for 37M pound raising to 45.5M and 10.25M pound respectively. Dalot, Fred and Grant were already bought before i joined the game, and then i was succeeded in buying Alex Grimaldo for 32.5M and Hirving Lozano for 24.5M who both went straight into my first team plan, Grimaldo as LB and Hirving Lozano as RW (although his 1st preference is LW, but i have Martial and Rashford for LW, so have to play Lozano as RW, hopefully he will learn this position). Also bought Joao Felix, whom i sent back on loan for 1 year as part of transfer deal. Also bought few other young talented players, however few other didnt joined me who were not interested in Man Utd. This is my first season and learnt few tricks of not buying a players for high price, esp those players who are extremely interested in joining Man Utd, which i will implement in next transfer.... Also i sold Valencia to some chinese club for 7M, but that deal will go in winter transfer season, so till than he will play with us. Some players which i must target now is RW (1st choice is Federico Chiesa and 2nd is Christian Pulisic) as well as RB (1st choice as Joshua Kimmich or 2nd choice as Benjamin Henrichs as he can play both as RB and LB).
  8. Intro Hi . My name is Chris. I decided to go back to FM19 because I am simply not enjoying FM20's ME right now. I have been wanting to do a Sunderland save but never got around to it. My plan is doing a story about it will keep me interested in the save because usually I lose interest a couple of seasons in. Goals for this save are very simple. Win the Premier League and win the Champions League. The plan is to end the save when those two targets are achieved. I am using an edited database with promotions and relagations as well as transfers updated . The only difference to fm 20 should be the start date .
  9. Why FM19 isn't on Steam? Have any idea guys?
  10. I've been doing my Parma updates in 'The Italian Job! Italian league thread is here!' thread on the GP&TG Forum, decided to transfer my previous updates into one topic instead. Will be making new updates here from now on as well. I might use this thread for my FM20 save as well in the future, will see how it goes. As of writing, I'm currently in my 7th season with Parma. New updates will be for April 2025 onwards.
  11. Hey. I want to do small changes in advanced rules for Italy, but there seems to be something wrong with it to begin with. I load 19.3.0 database - Add nation rules Italy add lower divisions etc - convert to advanced rules. At this point i tried making changes that ive done in fm18 and before to make my game more enjoyable - Test rules All - Then I get this error at the date 5/5/2018 "Error in nation rules: Wrong number of qualified teams (57) found for competition (59 required)." I couldnt figure out why I would get that error so I tried to repeat my steps on new save except I didnt make any of the changes I did before; I just converted to advanced rules right away. I got the same error even though I made NO changes. I tried the same for England and there were no errors. How come I get that error with Italy? Thanks for any help!
  12. First stop. Third team to call me up for interview but first one to ring me back. So here we go... There's much room for improvements here. Currently in the black though even my grandma and her cats know this will get ugly really fast. Not that dire of a situation but board are ambitious. They're asking midtable position of me. When i saw this, i kinda understood why The Beavers under-performed. They've got two whole squads in preseason. Yikes. Few familiar names but not much to get excited about. This team is old, defense is slower than a snail but i can work with this. Few players worthy of mentioning: A fine goalie for this level. As slow as a tortoise but it'll have to do... Vanarama's Pirlo. Poor man's Nani. I like him. Old as the Bible but best striker we have. Random beaver in holiday mood for the end of the opening post
  13. A second game I have going is with Utd. As with my other thread I'm looking for opinions where I could upgrade on positions, who I could buy etc. 1. I have De Light coming in for next season 2. Left back as I plan to sell Rojo, Young and Darmian so would be short but I do have Grimaldo coming but could still do with another option. 3. Planning on selling Valencia so again I would be short 4. Am considering selling Matic and Mata, not sure who I can get to replace these 2. 5. Not sure about selling Sanchez, I feel he played well but he is 30 and his value isn't going to increase is it, if I do sell who could I get to replace him, would like to go for youth. Just finished the 2018/2019 season.
  14. Im looking for some second opinions on where I could reinforce my team. Just won the Bundesliga and would like to reinforce certain areas. 1. A new right back to replace Hakimi as no guarantee I could get him back on loan 2. Not sure if Ortega is decent enough so a new left back 3. Possibly a new striker, a backup to the 2 in the screenshot and Dejan Loveljic 4. Maybe a new keeper, even as a backup to Burki. Just finished the 2018/2019 season. Thanks in advance for your advice. 1
  15. I am currently 18 seasons into my FM19 save in Hong Kong. I took charge of Dreams FC at the start of the save and have remained there ever since. In this save my aim is to either have Hong Kong win a world cup or make the Hong Kong league into the most reputable league in the world. In terms of domestic success we are the best team in Hong Kong by a country mile. We have done well in the continental competitions as well we have reached the Asian Champions League final 3 times, winning 2 and have been knocked out in the Semis 2 two times as well. I came third in the Club World Cup once too. The Hong Kong international team currently sit 69th in the world rankings and the league has the 14th highest reputation in Asia. I will not be managing Hong Kong yet but I will post how they do as when they qualify for a World Cup. When I have made my team as good as they can be I may move around the league improving each team. For those wondering I am using the unedited default FM 19 database.
  17. Hi guys..One last trip with fm19 who will help me-us run faster weeks-days before fm20 release..I love this national team since my childhood (actually i used to take them in first versions of Pro Evolution ) and managed them in fm too(fm 15 if i remember correct).Anyway let's start! NATION Jamaica (/dʒəˈmeɪkə/ (listen)) is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea. Spanning 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area, it is the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles and the Caribbean (after Cuba and Hispaniola).[9] Jamaica lies about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres (119 mi) west of Hispaniola (the island containing the countries of Haiti and the Dominican Republic); the British Overseas Territory of the Cayman Islands lies some 215 kilometres (134 mi) to the north-west. Originally inhabited by the indigenous Arawak and Taíno peoples, the island came under Spanish rule following the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1494. Many of the indigenous people were either killed or died of diseases to which they had no immunity, and the Spanish thus forcibly transplanted large numbers of African slaves to Jamaica as labourers.[9] The island remained a possession of Spain until 1655, when England (later Great Britain) conquered it, renaming it Jamaica. Under British colonial rule Jamaica became a leading sugar exporter, with a plantation economy dependent on the African slaves and later their descendants. The British fully emancipated all slaves in 1838, and many freedmen chose to have subsistence farms rather than to work on plantations. Beginning in the 1840s, the British began utilising Chinese and Indian indentured labour to work on plantations. The island achieved independence from the United Kingdom on 6 August 1962.[9] With 2.9 million people,[10] Jamaica is the third-most populous Anglophone country in the Americas (after the United States and Canada), and the fourth-most populous country in the Caribbean. Kingston is the country's capital and largest city. The majority of Jamaicans are of African ancestry, with significant European, Chinese, Indian, Lebanese, and mixed-race minorities.[9] Due to a high rate of emigration for work since the 1960s, there is a large Jamaican diaspora, particularly in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The country has a global influence that belies its small size; it was the birthplace of the Rastafari religion, reggae music (and associated genres such as dub, ska and dancehall), and it is internationally prominent in sports, most notably cricket, sprinting and athletics.[11][12][13] Jamaica is an upper-middle income country[14] with an economy heavily dependent on tourism, with an average of 4.3 million tourists a year.[15] Politically it is a Commonwealth realm, with Elizabeth II as its queen.[9] Her appointed representative in the country is the Governor-General of Jamaica, an office held by Sir Patrick Allen since 2009. Andrew Holness has served as Prime Minister of Jamaica since March 2016. Jamaica is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy with legislative power vested in the bicameral Parliament of Jamaica, consisting of an appointed Senate and a directly elected House of Representatives.[9] NATIONAL TEAM The Jamaica national football team, nicknamed the "Reggae Boyz", represent Jamaica in international football. The team's first match was against Haiti in 1925. The squad is under the supervising body of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), which is a member of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), and the global jurisdiction of FIFA. Jamaica's home matches have been played at Independence Park since its opening in 1962. The national team has participated in three major football competitions. Their sole appearance in the FIFA World Cup was in 1998, where the team finished third in its group and failed to advance. The team also competed in the Caribbean Cup winning six times. Jamaica also competes in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, appearing thirteen times and finishing twice as runners-up to Mexico in 2015 and the United States in 2017. They also have been invited to the Copa América in 2015 and 2016 with both times being eliminated in the group stage. 18. https://binged.it/2rHHyUo EDIT: Check the link out above if you need the title explaining. Cracking tune, but I've seen both lyrics posted all over the internet!) Afternoon all. It's been a while, I hope all is good here on FMCU. After a bit of a break from FM as part of my efforts to deal with the black dog, I'm back in a position to enjoy the game once again. In order to ensure the pesky mutt doesn't keep turning up at my door, I've had to make a few changes in my lifestyle, the most important of those (at least for me) is to sort my sleep pattern out. Considering my main FM time used to be between 10pm and 1am, that means I need to change the way I play the game to help me get a good night's sleep each night. As a result, I'm embracing technology and the iPad, so I can find time here and there during the day for a game or two, without having to get out the way of the family to play on my usual system. It therefore looks like my days of playing full-fat FM have come to an end, at least until the kids are a bit older! I've been stuck on FM13 for a long time, and despite starting saves on FM15 & 16 I never really got into them, mostly because my computer found the games a real struggle. That means FM19 is brand new to me, so this will be a real learning experience. I shall however be using the cross save function on Touch, and so far on the technical side, things seem to be moving along just nicely. OK Withnail, so what is the plan with the save? Simple enough. While I normally find myself playing in a smaller football country, the restriction of only being able to use three nations has made we think I need to play in more mainstream leagues, and with Germany now being officially recognised on the game, it seems the ideal place to play. The goal is simple enough - to remove Bayern from their position of dominance, and then grind them into the muck. I shall be starting in the third tier, but I am happy to move on when it is the right time to do so, and I'll even cross borders into France or Holland for a while in order to attract the attention of bigger German clubs if required. While I have no intention of managing other German sides with a recent tradition of success in order to beat Bayern, I won't rule it out if they are in a weak position or if I'm getting to the end of the 30 year period (which is the career limit on the iPad) without having achieved my goal. EDIT: My career took a different path than originally intended, so I added taking down PSG to the save's goals. Game details: FMT19 Leagues loaded from Germany (3.Liga and above) Holland (Keuken Kampioen Divisie and above) and France (French National and above) The manager As ever in my saves, it's Johan Andersen. This time, the Norwegian is 38 years of age, and with German heritage. He spent most of his playing career with Celtic, who are his favourite club, and he can also speak Dutch and French if he is required in future. Andersen was a solid holding midfield player, and he likes his sides to play at a high tempo and on the front foot, without having possession for the sake of possession.
  19. Hi guys, Created a new nation and trying to recreate the World Cup and Main Continental Cups and their qualifiers. However, none of the cups are running (except the Copa America equivalent) because the Qualifier competitions can't find any teams. In Qualified Teams I'm currently using 'Get Best National Teams', selecting a Continent, and entering the number of maximum teams. I've tried many variations, both in the competition Qualified Teams and within Stage 0 and nothing seems to be working. The error I get while testing rules is "Wrong number of qualified teams (1) found for competition (16)" - which means the host nation is working in the main competition, its just the qualifiers that aren't. Tested this in game and none of the qualifiers even start. Haven't played in a few years but have experience with Advanced Editor from earlier FMs so not totally clueless but I'm a bit stuck with this! If anyone knows how to make created competitions use international teams I'd really appreciate the advice!
  20. As title says, has anyone taken charge of a team in the lower leagues eg not in the top 2 divisions ? What team did you choose and how did you do ? Got any tips to pass on ? Thanks
  21. Hello and welcome to my first (and possibly only) FM19 career on this site. The team I've chosen is RB Leipzig, and this will hopefully be a more light/humorous save. Aim: To win the Bundesliga at least twice. To win the Champions League at least once. To weaken Bayern Munich as much as possible. My manager: I am a relative novice at FM, so this save could go anywhere... but hopefully with Leipzig, or else the title may be a problem...
  22. The Frenchman Who Made Vietnam Cheer We've all heard of French Indochina, of the Sino-French and Independence wars, and of course of the Vietnam wars that started in the 50s, taking away the lives of millions and millions of innocent civilians. France has, admittedly, played an important part in every single intervention in Vietnam, and still has to this day a strong influence on the country's economy, political instability, and whatnot. What if its influence grew past the negativity it has always had a connotation to? What if France sent one of its brightest young minds to make Vietnam rejoice the socio-cultural infatuation it should have always had? The hero of our story, a young 22 year-old who was set to become France's greatest football star until he tore his ACL (you know how it goes), initially came to Vietnam as a tourist, but had some issues at the border that forced him to stay there indefinitely, don't ask any more questions, I didn't think that much about Alphonse's story. Oh, right, his name's Alphonse, as French as it gets, pretty cool, right? Alphonse had to find a job that would pay the bills in order to, well, survive, and turned to football, his only education. Few weeks later, he penned a manager contract with the legendary Phù Đổng FC, founded in 2015 with the slogan "Sports is life". One of his objectives as manager of this small Hanoi-based club; to make it the Asian powerhouse it should have always been. In fact, his list of objectives goes a bit deeper than that. I present to you, the 16 Commandments of Alphonse Levallois. Now, more information on this youth-only career update and our chosen team, the great Phù Đổng FC, will follow in the next post.
  23. Andrea Pirlo, one of the best and smartest playmakers in history, returns to San Siro to start a new era for Rossoneri. Beautiful legend, isn`t it? Big history, big ambitions, big expectations... let`s see where we go. Global aim - is predictably become №1 in the world. But on the way for this glory we should achieve a lot of short- and long-term goals. Some of them: 1) Champions league every season. This is what the fans want and this is crucial for many aspects such as finances, marketing, reputation etc. 2) Build strong verticale u18--u20--main squad. What i mean. Strong coaching team, unified tactical system for all levels. And i`m a fan of "manageriable" rosters. No more then 25 players in u18 and u20 squads and no more then 23 players in senior squad. 3) Attractive football (of course with DLP in the system ) . I`m not a fan of gegenpressing, "all in attack" or something like this but i prefer the rule "best defending is attacking". When you are with ball it`s reduces chances for opponents. But at the same time plug and play tactics are not for me too. I have nothing against parking the bus if its really needed and will help us to win the match. 4) Preference to Italian players. It`s not a rule but ideal picture for me is strong Italian core alongside with quality players abroad. 5) Very long term i think - become CL most times winner (now Real - 13 times). So let`s start: Season 2018-2019 "Transitional" Why transitional? Cause this season is time for everyone in the club including players and the staff to show their skills and abilities. No transfers, no loans, no staff moves. And i will decide who suits our high standarts and who will leave the club. to be continued...
  24. Hello Folks, A little late with this, but I currently have a save running in Gibraltar called 'The Rock'. We are managing FC Hound Dogs (yes, that's right) the worst team in the league system and set-up by a bunch of Elvis enthusiasts. It's a small club, so small in fact that our Chairman is also our best centre-back. I am currently on episode 50, and it has been a huge amount of fun to put together. The critics are raving about it. "I've seen worse" "My 3 year old couldn't do any better" "My Dad didn't make me turn it off immediately" Come along and give it a try from the start or perhaps at the beginning of the new season (episode 51). 25. DAVID JAMES - FROM EVERYTHING TO NOTHING David James... Over 800 games as a professional goalkeeper and over 50 international caps for his native England and now, nothing. Earning over a reported £20 million over an illustrious 25 year playing career in which he played for English greats Liverpool and Manchester City. In 2014, James declared himself bankrupt after accruing a large amount of debt after separating from his wife in 2005. In November of 2014, James placed hundreds of his football memorabilia for sale in order to pa off his ever growing debts. Now, in 2018, he is looking to earn that money back and is reportedly ready to try his luck within the crazy world of football management. Is anyone is willing to give him a chance? That remains to be seen...
