Well that depends. As quite an avid gamer, I find that betas are always looked at, as unfinished products of the real game. I don't think that is the issue. I think the issue is that there are several problems from previous editions that remain, and like FIFA, whose quality is dwindling substantially, it seems preferable to just churn out the next edition, and promise fixes in that one.

I would rather have the game delayed, and reach the highest possible standard, rather than have a point where I just do not want to play it anymore.
FM19 was the first time I quit playing a version of the FM series.
And it seems that there are issues that developed here because of issues there.
Long shots, Through Balls(My biggest annoyance), Inside forward movement, Balls over the top, the freakish amount of shots taken in some matches and several others.

What I'm saying is that, if these issues are not really fixed by now, in a game with over a year of development, is hardly going to become something special in a space of two weeks.

The problem is the financial aspect. This is a game that should not have a yearly edition, but a range of updates continuously to develop and nurture the game for as long as is needed. Again, I understand it is not viable.

But if the yearly thing is being done, it needs to be done properly, to meet the needs of it's players. Give your players regular updates, instead of reaching a date to say, no more updates. We're moving on to the next one. That doesn't seem right.

On another note, my largest complaint of all is how good my team still is. -_-
Barring a few, Manchester United players are not even average. They are below average, overpaid and overhyped.
The likes of Mata, Martial, Matic, Young, Pereira, Lindelof and Shaw just really are nowhere near good enough.

Was hoping to save my club from the horror of mid-table and make them champions again, but with it actually being challenging. :((

They could release fm as a subscriptions where the game is updated constantly and in order to play it you play a regular fee.

This model would make much more sense for fm than to release a new one every year which is barely any different with " features" which are often just rearranged menus.

They would mean they could work on the match engine continuously and not stop updating after a few patches.

Hey, for those like me who have been discontent with the ME 2000, I think you should read this from SI staff:

It may seem naive to some, but now I feel much better about the release date update. Miles already said this will be the best FM ever. Let's hope they can deliver

Why not say what they are working on?

Alsways vage statements like these, the same as last year which was also aparently the best match engine ever despite big problems which were never fixed

So many goals scored from crosses and long shots it’s really boring. The ball is always played out wide why can’t advanced playmakers play through balls. I’ve got two advanced playmakers and they barely make a forward pass between them. I thought the improved striker movement would help. Same old issues, it’s so noticeable watch the goals in your division and you will notice the vast majority are scored via crosses, surly I’m not the only person to see it.

Same for me which was also why I stopped plaiyng fm19.

Really disappointing that nothing has changed in fm20 regarding these issues

Whilst there are no match engine changes at this stage, we hope to make improvements (including amongst other things, regarding one-on-ones) in time for the full release of the game.

    this does not inspire confidence.

This means the beta match engine is the most current match engine and not like some users suggested an older version of the match engine.

Having so many blatant issues so close to release  in the most current version does not sound good at all

Match engine feedback! Having played 8 games now with a 4-3-3 formation customised from gegenpress.

Like some people have mentioned there are too many long cross field balls all over the place being pinged about. Between the two full backs or wingers.

90% of my chances seem to be created by spraying it wide to the wing back in space, or long shots from the CMs.

The AML and AMR are playing too narrow mostly, which i can understands in the IF role but I also tried just winger & IW.

Also feel like my striker is just not getting involved enough as well.

Is anyone else experiencing the same or could it be the tactic?

Btw I am playing with Middlesbrough so in the championship.

It's exactly the same for me.

Also players dont seem to run with the ball it all and rather opt for the 50m cross court pass even though there is space to move onto or players to pass to.

This is despite short pass instructions and balanced mentality

Players with in the aml/r positions being to narrow is an old issue which has been present in fm for years

People only tend to get banned because of unnecessary abuse, lack of respect or constant spamming - and then usually only after they've ignored several warnings (unless it's really over the top) asking them to stop.  Unless it's excessive abuse, Mods follow guidelines of general in thread warning > private warning (if in thread is ignored) > ban (if private warning is ignored as well).  So the only real reason why people get banned is because of themselves.  It's rare someone just gets a straight up ban without a warning (the last one I did was because of homophobic abuse).

The problem tends to come when people think they're just voicing their opinion.  "SI are incompetent, it's just my opinion, you can't ban me for expressing an opinion".  It may be an opinion but it's not only disrespectful, it's opinion laced with abuse aimed at individuals.

So if there is something you don't like about the game, say it.  Ideally in a constructive manner (as forameuss gave as an example) but feedback about the game is just that - stick to talking about the game.  It's usually when people start to mention individuals or groups of individuals questioning their competence, calling them names or spamming the same thing over and over (for example) that's when the wicket becomes sticky.

I think it's because people get emotional and therfore voice their criticism emotionally, this does not mean its spam or should be a bannabel offense.

Fm is an emotonal game,  you work hard on what are essentially spreadsheets in order to be rewarded when you finally get your team to play like you want, at least it is for me.

  7. vor 6 Minuten schrieb forameuss:

If you're voicing feedback and getting pulled up for it, then that's probably on you.  Maybe remember that, rather than rolling out tired old cliches about everyone being against you, when it's perfectly fine to raise constructive, negative feedback.  It's likely the most valuable kind they get.

    Constructive

I've noticed this bug where my defender isn't behaving as I think they should.  Here's a thread in the bugs forum with a pkm so you can investigate

    Destructive

Defending is broken!  Don't you ever test things?!

Both complaining about the same issue, but can you guess which one is more useful?

It's much more than just a defender.

There are multiple issues which are interrelated and are not easily broken down in a simple bug threat.

Also what is a bug? Everything which does not represent a real football game?

Bugs like interface issues are simple and easier to report.

I don't think the same can be said about how the match engine behaves

  8. vor 11 Minuten schrieb forameuss:

That's good news.  Was thinking that there definitely seems to be less clamour around this release.  Usually by this point we've had several tearful threads that get immediately locked because people can't play nice, and the feedback thread is a bit of a zoo.  Doesn't seem to be that way this year.

No because people get banned here for many reasons, I am not  even sure how I should  voice negative feedback without a ban.

... and in the defensive phase. Because IRL 1 of 3 crosses is accurate. In FM 1 of 6 or even 1 of 7 is accurate. Why ? Defender movement and decision making are not good enough to handle such a large number of succesfull crosses. IRL only one cross form 20 - 22 accurate crosses is an assist. Defenders are able to move quickly and to cover the space between striker and target. FM is compensates for the lack of movement and realistic decisions of the defenders by countless blocked crosses or crosses randomly thrown at the goalkeeper or the opposing defenders.  On the other hand, the average number of crosses is too high. An FM match usually generates 25 - 30 crosses per team. IRL average number of crosses per team is 15 - 20.  A realistic frequency of the crossing can be obtained, but only by significant tactical changes. Long shots are too efficient. Normally 1 of 30 shots from outside the box means goal. But in FM19 a goal is scored from every 10-15 long shots and the only restriction is related to quality of  the player who shoots. Some players looks to be "long-shot goal machines"

I have 50 crosses average per game even though a have all crossing instructions set to not cross.

It seems to me the ai always defends deep and narrow and the offensive movement is not good enough which leaves only the flanks open.

But if crosses were defended better the average number of goals per game would be way too low.

But if crosses were more effective it would be to high.

The average number of goals per game is somewhat realistic but how they are scored not at all in fm 19

Won't be buying this year.  My game time since 2015 is as follows:

    2015: 304 hours

    2016: 387 hours

    2017: 405 hours

    2018: 393 hours

    2019: 94 hours :D

Probably due to lifestyle/job that it's dropped off so much this year, but just couldn't get into it at all.

My wife is also due on 25 October so probably will have even less time to play (though that 2 week paternity leave could pose as a bit of an opportunity!)

Edit - just seen it's out on 19 November, so will probably be elbows deep in **** by then, literally!

My experience is similar to yours, 500+ hours in every fm up until fm19 where I have below 100.

And its not real life that kept me from playing but the match e engine.

Also it's not about winning, I have never been less exited to win the league then in fm19.

Won the league in the first season with Leipzig, by only scoring scrappy goals and from crosses.  Boring.

I'm like you mate, got bored with the game when they decided not to fix all the ME problems and leave it till FM20 to do the fixes, right now I keep starting a new save using the editor just to have a bit of fun with different players and tactics.

problem is almost all goals are scored in the same way regardless of tactics and players, definitely the most boring fm in 15 years

This is part of the problem I remember when there was three or four football management games out at the same time.  It can be argued that SI has seen off the opposition because of its quality and there is some truth in this however there is also the reason that because the profit margin in football management games is relatively small other developers have dropped out to work on other games that will make them more money but SI had less choice as FM was their main product.

yes also there is a high entry barrier.

The strength of fm is in its database which depends on the volunteer network which took years to build up.

a new company cant just create a convincing management simulation because it does not have this kind of database

This. Theres a demo available for free, so you have every chance to play the game yourself before buying it. If you buy it, and dont feel its worth it, that's on you not SI.

Would you go into a shop, eat a free sample, then buy the product before throwing it in the bin and demanding a better tasting one?

Folk seem to act like they have absolutely no choice but to buy every year, and then complain that they've bought it.

This is hard when it's bascially a monopoly.

If I want to play a football manager simulation I can't buy anything else.  So there is no real choice

Perhaps if you dedicated a small amount of effort to asking for help rather than being unhelpful like this, your impression of FM19 may be different.  At least try reading some of the really useful guides and strategies people have written about this year.

I dedicated enough time to the game trying to make the football I want to play work. Its impossible.

Every team defends like Atlético, extremely narrow and deep but the attacking players don't move off the ball well enough and don't use the space we'll enough to balance it out.

He quite literally said it. It's not hard to tell at all

It is, is it attacking movement improves because striker movement improves which results in a variety of goals?

Or is it general improvement on how players move when attacking, not just the strikers.

Both the now hidden post and the new update suggest the same thing in different words.

Attacking improvement because of striker movement improvement, not general movement improvement of all players
