  1. Anyone know if this change is save game compatible? If I need to load up a new save, would be good to know.
  2. I've been waiting YEARS for something like this, when you progress a building a nation save in Ireland (regular in Europe groups) the scheduling and transfer window is a massive pain. Thanks for this. Have you tested this for any length of time?
  3. My two cents: CA now declines slower than older FMs, world class players maintain their ability into their mid 30s. PA is now more difficult to develop than older FMs, both for the player and for the AI. Whilst I think these two changes were made with the best intentions for realism, players did fall off a cliff attribute wise once they hit 30, and it was far too easy to develop any youngster you wanted through tutoring/playtime, were they the right changes for game balance? As long as the AI manager still works with the intelligence of "Oooo reputation good, me like, you play", then the previous status quo was probably for the best.
  4. I wonder if there's a means for an unofficial mod to help remedy this somewhat. I know it's unrealistic but adding some squad/starting XI rules 2-3 years into a save to the top leagues might force some of the top club's hands in terms of actually picking youngsters.
  5. I wonder if someone could run a test with Ligue 1 to see if the big clubs (PSG probably a bad example due to sugar daddy) like Marseille, Lyon etc. are using their newgens or not. France has a pretty good youth rating so you should be seeing world class talents coming through.
  6. +1 just had this issue in Ligue 2, second season with Red Star:
  7. Interesting, but I think this is the point I'm trying to make. Even though you did not replicate my season, the bottom line is you had no input other than a tactic and were still able to perform at par with minimum effort put into the game other than knowledge of what worked from an earlier version of the game. There should be more at stake on the decisions made by the player in the game, even to perform at par for a side takes a lot of work in real life and the manager is at risk of the sack and the anger of fans for underperformance. New editions of the game should be introducing ways for seasoned and new players alike to learn and master, even paradox games like Crusader Kings still had something to learn for new players from the 2nd to the 3rd game. For us both to get promoted off one input from the player is being damning.
  8. I posted this on another thread but I honestly think this game is too easy. This is my first season on the beta. Without trying to sound la-dee-da look at me about it, this is my tactic I've loaded in from FM21 that I has some moderate success with. Most new strategy games at least give you a learning curve, for example Crusader Kings 2 and 3 are similar but the third still required a level of getting to know the game in order to master. On FM23, I'm already steamrolling up the leagues without as much as checking out the new features yet. In fact, after winning the first 12 games I holidayed/simmed the rest. No effort, no managing morale, no transfers (even staff), training, nothing. I had zero to no input on this side for the whole season (predicted to finsh 3rd) other than setting up my FM21 tactic. Red Star are predicted to finish 3rd, so this result isn't far-fetched, but I shouldn't be allowed to get away with only setting one input on the whole season (tactic) and over-achieving on my first season on a new game. I honestly think FM would benefit from taking a year or two out (like PES), release an official data update, and try to freshen/overhaul things to give seasoned players something new to learn. Also, my striker scored 46 league goals in 32 appearances. This never happened with this tactic in earlier versions, other than a save in Ireland where I brought Bohemians to the CL and I was a 1-100 favourite to win - AF seems to just bewilder defenders on 23.
  9. Just played my first season on the beta with Red Star Paris in the French third tier. We should do well, media prediction is 3rd. Loaded up my tactic from FM21 - basically a take on a 4-2-3-1 high press but with DMs. Idea is to let the front 4 take risks + dribble with a supporting back of 4 behind them, and 2 in defence. My striker scored 46 league goals in 32 appearances. This never happened with this tactic in earlier versions, other than a save in Ireland where I brought Bohemians to the CL and I was a 1-100 favourite to win - AF seems to just bewilder defenders on 23. Now - you may be skeptical still at this point, but after winning the first 12 games I simmed the rest. No effort, no managing morale, no transfers (even staff), training, nothing. I had zero to no input on this side other than setting up my generic tactic I used on FM21. Most strategy games at least give you a learning curve, for example Crusader Kings 2 and 3 are similar but still requires a level of getting to know the game in order to master. I'm already steamrolling up the leagues without as much as checking out the new features yet on FM23. I honestly think FM would benefit from taking a year or two out (like PES), release an official data update and try to freshen things up.
  10. I always think you should be thinking about how to exploit the weakness rather than how to stop a certain system, maybe that's my own managerial style. With 4-4-2, you want to overload the central areas which your system can do naturally. Looking at your system, there's small duties changes that'll help. Mez+IWB to support for example will keep these players more around their position whilst still performing what you want to do in the attacking phase (I find Mez/S better than A because they still make those runs and are more supportive of the other players in midfield). I'd turn on exploit the middle too. If you're conceding the goals you're conceding, it may also be an issue of your personnel not being able to hold a high defensive line well against two front men. You should always have some athletic defenders with good concentration/anticipation back there. Failing that, it may be worth considering a 3 at the back version of your system.
