  1. Good point, and similar to the recommendation that Jean0987654321 makes. If I change the striker to CF (A), I would normally change the AMC to Adv. PM (Support). Any tips on how to set up the two central midfielders then? An attacking role for one of them would increase the issue that the 4-2-3-1 naturally has with the gap between the central midfielders and defense. Or would an AMC plus Striker both on attack work fine?
  2. Hello all, I have been having great success with a 4-3-3 tactic build around optimizing my Raumdeuter Marko Reus. Now I want to build a 4-2-3-1 for home games to optimize the talents of Reus and Mario Götze. It seems to be working ok, but I have less possession and give away more chances. Anyone have advice to how to improve my below tactic? Thanks in advance! GK- D DL WBL -S (Schmelzer) CD -D (Hummels/Ginter) CD -D (Papastathopoulos) DR FB -A (Piszczek/Durm) MCR -D (Bender/Khedira) Close down less in order to keep position and lessen the gap between midfielders and defenders that 4-2-3-1 naturally has MCL -S (Strootman/Khedira) AMC Adv.PM -ATT (Götze) Run wide with ball to create space for the Raumdeuter AML Raumdeuter -ATT (Reus) AMR Winger -S (Blaszczykowski) ST DLF -S (Volland/Ramos) Shoot less, as it is his job to hold up the ball and play through the Raumdeuter and Adv. PM Control Push higher up Close down more Work ball into box Play through balls
  3. Would you still keep the two central defenders on "mark tall player"? or give them "zonally marking the six yard box"?
  4. Playing Reus as raumdeuter in my Dortmund game. He is performing superbly. Took some tinkering with the tactics though. At first I had a deep lying playmaker and a flexible mentality and he just did not perform. Changing the mentality to fluid with a central midfielder on support behind him did the trick. Also I play a wingback on support behind him.
  5. Same problem here. Playing with Atletico Madrid in a 4-1-2-1 (DM and wingers on either AML/R or ML/R). Playing away I cannot escape teams playing attacking football (especially when they are closing down heavily). I have tried keeping them away from my area by pushing up and retaining possession (the way I play at home) and I have tried direct counter attacking to exploit the space they give away. Going defensive with dropping the d-line and standing off is suicidal as it will just invite more pressure. I am completely at a loss.
  6. With my Newcastle team I play with Bony as CF and switch him with Ademilson as AF. AML and AMR are IF's (Fischer and Ben Arfa). Behind them I play an AP att (Bigirimana/McCarthy) and a B2B midfielder (Sissoko). Tiote is Anchorman at DM. For width I play with two wingbacks that have support duty. Works great.
  7. In my game (4th season) he is rotting away in Fulham's reserves.
  8. Man City, West Brom and Wolves away are impossible for my Arsenal side.
  9. I forgot to register the injured Thomas Vermaelen for the premiership. Now his status is alienated, wants first team football. He feels "the relationship has broken down" , and does not want to have any chats anymore. As I could register him in the second transferwindow I am now playing him again. He is however still unhappy, refuses to talk to me and still want first team football (?). Anyone knows if he will turn around or that I cannot get him to be a happy player again? I am not sure if the alienated status put me as an unliked person in the background.

  11. Is anyone else unable to start Steam at the moment? It does not go past "connecting to account"
  12. I really feel like giving up on the game completely. I play Wolves away with Arsenal. Odds are 3.2 - 2, so I am the favourite. I play a slow possesion based control tactic. have 60% possession, 6 shots all on target, no goals. The first cross that Kightly gave was converted by Fletcher (header): 1-0 for Wolves. This was their first shot in the game (8th minute) In the OIt he instructions I gave on Kightly were show on left foot, closing down always and tackling hard. What did my LB (Gibbs) do? He showed him outside en did not close down or tackle he gave him the amount of space I would expect with closing down never and tackling easy. I gave tight marking instructions on Fletcher, but Coscielny just forgot about him and left Sagna to pick him up who lost the header. In the rest of the match chances were evenly distributed but possesion remained on 55%. I am really at a loss here as the game gave me the signals that my strategy was spot on, the assman comment also stated this. Then they get one shot on target and bam! it is a goal. For people that are interested here is the pkm: http://www.file-upload.net/download-4250620/Wolves-v-Arsenal.pkm.html
  13. I see your point, but all did Rubin did was boot long balls to Martins and Valdez so it made perfect sense. I guess that me being the slight favourite away after having won the home leg 4-0 might not have been enough for them to play defensively (in which case drop deeper would have been fine to create space). It is really difficult to make the right choices in FM2012!
  14. Mertesacker was warming the bench. I played with Koscielny and Djourou who have decent pace. I replayed the match btw playing a very deep defense and low closing down and the result was an even game that I lost 1-2. Now I will try my regular high pressing short passing control strategy and see what happens. Note that I really do not see the use of shouts anymore if they really disrupt my tactic lke you state. If a TC tactic will be messed up by shouts then what is the use of them?
  15. Thanks for looking into the pkm! I used the drop deeper shout as they had very pacey strikers, but because of my team closing down often on default ("press more") it looks like my d-line was still too high (it was on the 10th notch). Interestingly my d-line would have been deeper had I played with "stand off more", but then the defense would have been even less inclined to close down.
