  1. So if I don't want the players to prefer TM/PM, can I create all the specialist roles from a base role? For example, DLP (D) seems to be DM (D) + Shoot Less + Risky Pass.
  2. Is there a way to derive the AI tactic settings from a PKM? I'd like to see what Mourinho is doing at Chelsea. Also, does the AI alter their tactic to fit the player strength?
  3. I used to recall pre-match feedback on squad integration and language barriers in previous FMs. Is that still part of FM14? Not sure when/if I should choose teamwork as match preparation.
  4. Started new game in demo as Arsenal and noticed that only Wilshere is considered trained in England. Gibbs, Woj, Walcott, Ramsey and Ox don't count towards the 8 for squad registration.

  6. Wow, this is freaking brilliant!! Nice job Nocuous. On a side note to SI, why is it so unnecessarily complicated? Does it really add anything to the game by including vague personality descriptions like Jovial and Fairly Sporting?
  7. Does anyone really know the backstory behind Arsenal's finances? Is Wenger not spending due to philosophical youth policies or capital constraints from the board? If it's the former, then Wenger needs to go. If it's the latter, then I can't imagine anyone else performing better. In the end, money buys trophies. Unfortunately, Arsenal is run like a business in a league where profit is ancillary.
  8. While I agree that scouting should be less accurate, I want the human player interaction to be simplified. The last thing I want to do playing FM is having to repeatedly micromanage individual scouts. In fact, I'd like FM to look at Out of the Park (OOTP) baseball sim for their single scouting director model. At any given time, you are given some estimation (never the real attributes) of all players in the game. The accuracy of the estimation depends on the scouting budget and abilities of the director. Obviously, some 16 yr kid from Kazakstan will be wildly inaccurate. The scout probably saw nothing more than a youtube clip or a story from the local paper. This way, you will have star ratings for all players at all times, but with a note on the perceived accuracy. In OOTP, you have the option to scout individual players as well for better accuracy.
  9. Were you buying established players or youth players? I think scouts should be fairly accurate for established players, but need to be toned down for youth. I don't see why the board should stop you. If you're spending within your limits, what's the basis of board intervention? Personally, I think Arsenal would take €20m for Walcott. I disagree about the board interjecting. You should have the freedom to build your own team as you see fit. However, FM needs to inject a harsher chemistry penalty for replacing a whole team.
  10. Isn't there an automatic filtering based on mutual interest? If Sunderland is on the list, doesn't that mean Wilshere would considering joining? We don't see the offer extended to league 1 teams.
  11. One problem of relying only on CA is that RL scouts have a sense of which attributes can be improved by age. Let's say a kid is dominating youth league by brute strength and size, but lacks vision or technical abilities. His CA might be higher than his peers, but scouts would favor a smaller player with technical abilities that would be able to grow into his frame. It's nuisances like this that are difficult and complex to program into FM.
  12. Absolutely spot on. I also think some sort of sliding window would work also. Let's say the good scout is able to read 20 points above CA. So he'll be able to differentiate a 120/120 player from a 120/140. But a 120/140 and 120/180 would be rated the same.
  13. I think FM scouting needs an complete overhaul. It's just too easy to build a superstar squad. I'd like to see PA almost completely eliminated from any scout star calculation. Rely on CA, age and personality attributes. Building through youth will be much tougher as teams will just buy young players with high CA, but their development will be a complete crapshoot. Kinda like RL.

  15. What does the unexpected actually mean? I'm not sure how that ties into decision. If a player has high C and high D, he'll recognize players in good positions and make the right decision. Why is flair needed here? What will it add?
  16. So what's the difference between creativity and flair? Low C and High F vs High C and Low F
  17. Get rid of this concept. There's no set and agreed upon market value IRL. The value is different for every club depending on their needs and style. Liverpool values Andy Caroll at 35m whereas Barcelona probably wouldn't even pay 10m. SI should have every club determine their own perceived value of a player.
  18. I asked this earlier and the reply was that it was not created using the set piece editor. However, even manually setting corner settings individually doesn't allow more than one to lurk. I have no idea how to recreate the corner tactic, but it is super effective.
  19. For your attacking corner insturctions, how do you get multiple players to lurk outside area? I can only get one player into that position. As soon as I try to set it for another player, it just swaps with the first.
  20. Have you downloaded 11.1.1? That was one of the bugs they fixed with the custom view disappearing. I personally have no problem with the view sticking.
  21. I just create a custom view with the scout information included. It seems to stick as I move around.

    It seems like any change I make reverts back after a couple of days. This ranges everything from attributes to CA to positions. Anyone know why it's happening and how to fix it?
  23. What a great thread!!! Kudos to all the folks contributing to this. This might have been already brought up, but I must have missed it. Which positions are most benefited from having ambidextrous feet? I assume skill positions such as ST and AMC would be much more likely use both feet as supposed to a lumbering centerback. Does the CA loss with "either" factor the position into account? Also, I wonder what actions in the match engine use feet as a variable. I'm sure shooting/passing/crossing would be affected by where the ball is in relation to the player's feet. What about tackling? Does the match engine calculate which foot is used to tackle?
