  1. Been saying it for years - mentality should be renamed risk. I haven't thought about mentalities as anything other than risk for ages
  2. Absolutely, if the AI is coming at you then there is space to exploit. If you have a support striker, switch them to something like an advanced forward, drop an attacking wide role or two to support and hit early crosses. I dont even change mentality
  3. No hard feelings at all. If you ask me a question I'll always try and answer honestly and be as candid as possible than tell you something that isnt true to make you feel better. Some people might take that as dismissive but its not, its just honest communication. For what its worth ive always argued SI should be more communicative. But the way that communication is sometimes received here definitely makes that more difficult for them to do so imo.
  4. Woodwork not being counted, which we weren't talking about previously, is different issue to hitting the woodwork too often. One of those will be a bigger issue than the other
  5. I'll ask about the AFC but i dont think they will be waiting till Christmas. Its the weekend but they'll probably be keen to get some info out early next week
  6. Except i haven shut anyone out. If peole want to understand why something is the way it is, thats why. Im not going to say something different from the reasoning, to make some feel better if thats not true. SI are happy with the variation in their numbers (and the numbers seem to vary from normal to obscene depending on user). Ultimately these shots need to be missing the goal, rather than going in. So if you've got something that is variable, you're happy with internally, but is subjective enough to vary massively from user to user, you've got a complex issue to balance that actually overall in their view is a low priority issue. And as its an endpoint issue (ie dependent on attacking balances etc) its difficult to balance every release. SI are looking into defensive AI, which will change shooting, which impact woodworks. How, remains to be seen
  7. I didnt dismiss it, so dont put words in my mouth. Its a matter of fact that issues have to be prioritised as you only have a set amount of times and resources. Something like woodwork being hit more when the shot should probably miss the goal more, isnt on the same level as say, defensive AI problems, or game crashes, or rule issues that break a league
  8. But ive already explained how people will be be able to understand why its not likely a high priority. Shots hitting the work when they could potentially miss more is not on the same level as tackling defensive AI issues etc. Communication isnt always hearing what you want to hear. They might not like that, but not going say something different just to make them feel better. Things will always impact people differently but SI have to look at and prioritise what are genuine showstoppers in their view, and what impacts the most people the hardest. Thats not really going to be woodworks
  9. You've got him on a support role so he will help support play more and retain a link. If you want him more aggressive in build up trying going attack role instead
  10. Its not about whether its helpful or not though. Its about what's likely to be true. Its so dependent on end factors and doesn't ultimately change the end result, or move the needle so its going to a lower priority. If your shot numbers arent crazy higher then you also dont see it as much either so it starts becoming quite subjective from user to user. That's why its not such a critical thing to chase down
  11. It might potentially ruin their immersion but given its the result of so many end products, and realistically these woodworks wont be going on anyway if they are toned down, I'm willing to bet its going to be very low down their list. Realistically the alternative is going to be 1-1, and the shots miss wide.
  12. They have to pick up the ball from the defensive line because you have no midfield. The DM they should be getting the ball from is in the defensive line, and there is no IWB acting as DMs. So they are using intelligent behaviour to react to poor tactical selection. Its been possible to play between the lines and half spaces with ease since at least FM18. The CWB-A isnt taking up deep support roles because thats not its role. This is what you said you wanted: "Players who you would never want dropping in front of their opposing 6/8 in the build up phase. Player's you'd either want level/outside of their opposing 6/8, or in between lines in a passing lane (beyond the opponent's 6/8)" Mezzalas with a DM support behind them and at least one inverted Wingback, if not two. Youre wanting to load the midfield base to play the 8s much higher up the pitch. Which is the exact opposite of the roles you have selected. I used to do this with a mezzala, RPM, DMS combination, one IWBD, one IWBS
  13. Your role selection and combinations are not good. Thats what several people are trying to tell you.
  14. Its extremely difficult to set up here because i dont think the role choices are particularly cohesive The image shows essentially what your movement is trying to be, you've got no build up or midfield. If you want them to play between the lines with a bit more movement, you want something like moves into channels, or even select roaming playmakers. You want a fulcrum so i wouldnt play a half back, unless youve got inverted fullbacks stepping from left, and perhaps right, to create a midfield platform. The aim of the halfback is to drop into the back like to create a man advantage passing out to bypass a press - i get your logic. But youre missing the next bit considering you want to play a lower tempo shorting passing game - wheres the next option to build up through the lines?
  15. By 10s, do you mean 8s moving into the half spaces, as you wouldn't play a flat 433 with two 10s? And you need players moving into the space they vacate. If they move into the half spaces and the HB drops into the D-line youve just vacated your midfield.
  16. My only issue with the woodwork is that more shots should miss the goal entirely. None of them should be going in with conversion rates as they are. But also sits firmly at the bottom of my personal list of things to look into in the ME
  17. Closing the thread as largely people having a pop at each other.
  18. I think you're being argumentative for argumentative's sake since i didnt say the above and you're putting words in my mouth, so im going leave it
  19. Testers dont fix bugs, they report them. Doesnt mean they get fixed before release, thats not their job. Where do you think alpha testers come from? The community of course. You keep talking about hardcore users, but have you thought about the fact that alpha testers would fall into that. Think about that before you post about alpha testers, because they've probably already spotted them before you've even got hands on the game.
  20. We did that way back and it was a cesspit and a disaster to be absolutely frank. The rules around engagement are a result of that. You don't need to be raw and unfiltered to provide the best quality feedback, in fact the best feedback is usually stuff thats been carefully considered, reasoned and backed up.
  21. No. For the same reason they took it away - was massively underutilised by users for the amount of resources going into it. We have this discussion every year. And there's no evidence thats going to change. People still dont get that testers track and spot the bugs, but its not on them to lead fixes. Its not si. ply about best eyes but dedicated ones. Most of the closed testers not only come from the community, they come from this forum,
