Thanks for this. Again being stupid, but worried the very attacking one would be too much for chelsea maybe? so if i chose the hgf v5 one, do i need to change anything when playing away against the top teams? or just leave it as attacking mentality?

@mickyt11 Chelsea have an amazing squad, be brave!

For home games I would use a Heartbreaker 4231 Very Attacking and for away games a 451.

If you see you struggling away to big teams change the mentality on the 451 down a little bit but my experience with Man Utd is to not be afraid.

  2. MUFC Season 3 | Heartbreaker 4231

Returned to Hertbreaker 4231 for this season and finally did the treble.

@knap congratulations, first time I have won the Prem and UCL for three seasons running from season 1 in non-game engine breaking FM. All tactics are amazing.

Includes probably my favourite result of beating Liverpool 10-0 with a UCL final demolition of Real Madrid.

My MUFC squad is very good but young, by no means the best team you can create so this tactic can go to the moon.

  3. MUFC Season 2 - Unbeaten Prem Winners and UCL winners

Combo of tactics that I think are a great combination

Route66 424 - Home, easy away games, and when you need a goal

    - Great mix of goals, very fun but a lot of away draws I should have won, my fault for not switching up/tightening up enough.

    - Home form was incredible, only one draw which was UCL semi-final second leg when already up 3-0.

WOF 451 ATTMCp102ALLCUPS - Away games, cup finals, when you see you are losing control

    - Fantastic tactic, very well balanced and easy to make more defensive

My Man UTD team was great as it could switch between the two without any subs

A lot more goals from corners, maybe because I signed Osimhen who is a monster (my CBs are not physical monsters).

  4. Heartbreaker 4231 - MUFC Season 1 Results

    Wow, what a tactic.

    Won Prem League & UCL

Runner-up in League Cup in a game we should have won.

FA Cup knocked out playing our reserves.

Used this almost exclusively, changing to Route66 424 sometimes when chasing a game.

Not too many headed goals directly from corners but many resulting from second or third ball.

MUFC are laughably overpowered compared to real life but not one of the absolute best teams in the league.

Bruno F is one of the best players in the game and 42 goal contributions without pens (Rashord took them) is outstanding.

  5. Man Utd Season 2 with Kashmir 4123 = :applause:

    Won everything.

League was a bit tight due to some bad away results, Liverpool blew a 10pt lead but we won it on the last day.

Overall, a very powerful tactic, athough we did concede a lot of goals. I should note that in some of the games where we dropped points we underperformed xG.

    Champions League form was amazing.

Suggestion for others: Left footed F9 on left and right-footed F9 on right as they put

Thanks again Knap, great tactic which is quite easy to build a squad for.

Can't seem to find a link for this one, can anyone help?

Here is the link to the 41212 narrow I used.

I had a modified version I used for many away games and at home for top teams (still lost to Liverpool and Citeh)

    Mentality: Positive

    CDM DLP: Support -> Defensive

Remove team instrucyion: Get Stuck In

I am not certain if a more defensive CDM is better than an actual playmaker.

I signed Bennancer as 1st choice but when he was out for ACN I used Tanguy Nianzou and results seemed better. Could just have been the opposition and general team performance but something to consider.

  7. First season results as Man Utd with ME22.3ECHOESKnap41212NDP106

    Definitely a recommended tactic.

Solid tactic with very good results, league winners and UCL semi-final loss to Real Madrid (should have won both games).

Season shoutout: Scott McTomminy at RCM with 13 goals and 11 assists :applause:

Going to switch to 4123 for second season to see how that performs.

I noticed in Spurs thread that Kwark made 109pts using I believe KASHMIR 433. There probably were transfers involved but should be attainable, as can win PL with Arsenal starting squad with 98pts.

The OP has ideas on being more defensive, has a guide on man marking and a mentality matters guide.

You are at a big disadvantage playing  Top 4 Away.. In general a 4141 formation should be a good option but I would try the 451 HB tactic.

@stevetemp This is always the case, I am playing as Man Utd, crushing it all and away to Man City in UCL quarter final I got stomped 4-1 using 4231 with Positive mentality.

Yes I rage quit, yes I tried it again and lost again, rage quit again. Changed to 451 balanced and other tweaks and won 2-0.

There is also a lot of variance as well, sometimes you concede or score early.

One big piece of advice is you need to remove hard tackling and check your players - Knaps tactics have hard tackling and aggressive players WILL get red cards.

  9. Finished Season 1 with MUFC using PILGRIMAGE 4123 P103 EC

Very good league results, was too lazy to adjust to more defensive version for cup/big away games which is needed with such an attacking tactic.

BETA issue with corners so loads of goals by CDs, personally not a fan of this

MUFC also not the ideal squad for the tactic so going to try 424 for season 2 and see how many Mbappe can score :)

Good tips thanks. Do u think this tactic will work with Leicester? If not, which one will.

I think it will work well and worth trying but probably need something like the 4141 for tougher games against the biggest teams (especially Liverpool, the evil empire of this year's FM).

TIME 4141 is great for me but interested in others who have used it.

I am not completely familiar with the Leicester squad but took a look and would think these are best players for each position:

    GK: Schmeichel

DR: Ricardo Pereira (elite!) / Justin

    DL: Castagne / Justin

DCL: Evans / Fuchs (maybe, left footed but slow)

    DCR: Soyuncu

MC: Ndidi (top quality) / Mendy

ML: Cenzig Under (train at ML, left footed and can develop well) / Maddision

    MR: Barnes / Maddision

AMC: Tielemens (not sure how good at AMC but should be great) / Maddison / Ayoze

    STCL: Vardy

    STCR: Kelechi

Main transfers would be another striker (Brenner is amazing if you have the money), CB (Papetti, always) and left-footed if you can (hard to get cheap), and fast wingers (lowest priority).

Remember that players do not have to show Green for position suitability. Example being Cenzig, especially if young they get familiar quickly (usually).

Which tactic are u playing with as there is a few on their??

DARK SIDE OF THE MOON 4312 P106 EC FA Salah 75 Goals

This link should download the tactic.

The link in my comment should open directly to Knap's original post.

    Some tips:

STCR: Play a left footer. Knap had Salah and I use Greenwood = Goooooaaaallsss

Wingers: Try to use ones with the correct foot, e.g. ML = Left Footed, and if possible without the trait to cut in from the wing they play on. They can get loads of assists this way.

  12. @Rengarfloki @smlrch1892

This is the tactic I use: https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/451185-fm-21-fm-20-tactic-list-fm-19-recommended-tactic-list/page/363/?tab=comments#comment-12864810

Changes I made and start all games with are:

    Mentality: Positive

    Defensive Line: Standard

    Tackling: Removed 'Get Stuck In'

In the screenshot you can see latest results, I think the new patch was from around the Burnley game. So still doing amazingly well. Playing as Man Utd, 3rd season with very good team.

    image.png.33560d43198de4377ef25973db9f21dd.png

My defensive tactic (which I do not use much) is a 4141: https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/451185-fm-21-fm-20-tactic-list-fm-19-recommended-tactic-list/?do=findComment&comment=12903872

    Mentality: Balanced

    Defensive Line: Standard

    Tackling: Removed 'Get Stuck In'

An example when I used it was Liverpool away, was leading 1-0 but saw in highlights (I watch Key only) that they were getting many chances.

After conceding a penalty (which was saved) I changed to the 4141 and ended up winning 4-0.

    image.png.075fdb5035533c749199459d65057ee4.png

I also changed to the 4141 during the Carabao Cup Final since I played my reserve players who were not very match-fit and also had not played together as a team.

Match engine looks pretty much the same after winter patch, except maybe for some small changes to set pieces. Was scoring at very good rate from corner and especially long throw in routine, now they seem less effective. Small sample, but maybe something to review.

In my limited run of games on the new patch I am scoring just as many goals from corners/long-throws as before. Could just be variance in your game (or mine).

Continued using HGF 4132 and killing it on the new patch, patch appears to have changed nothing.

  14. Season 2 Results: MUFC DARK SIDE OF THE MOON P100 ALL CUPS

As noted - having wingers with the correct foot (left on left, right on right) is very helpful.

Won all competitions except Carabao Cup (lost in final).

105 pts in league, scored 129 goals

Destroyed Liverpool 9-0 & Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate in UCL. Easy 4-0 win over Inter in final.

Greenwood scored 35 goals in league, new division record. 59 in all comps

Martial got 32 in league. 47 in all comps

Spent money but only major first team signing was Sancho, most of 1st team already at club.

Some notably fun games (see screenshots)

  15. Manchester United | Season 1 Results | DARK SIDE OF THE MOON 4312 P106 EC FA Salah 75 Goals

Won both Premier Division & European Cup.

Beat Liverpool at home on last game of season to win league and beat Man City 3-0 in UCL final :)

    Thoughts on tactic:

    1. Very dependent on the strikers who get vast majority of goals. Suffered mid-season slump in results when they stopped performing.

    2. Not that easy to build squad for formation due to need of ML & MR plus other positions

    3. 2nd half of season after drop in performance I played with Positive mentality, Standard defensive line and removed "Get Stuck In"

    As always, great work Knap!

    @AaronRedDevil

Having a control tactic as well as SUS can be very useful.

Mentality Matters is still in OP for details on how to set them up,

    Absolutely.

Considering how "lazy" I was with this test season the results are amazing.

No changes to individual or coach training, tried shouts and team talks to see new impact (throwing bottles not as effective as FM20). Forgot to put De Gea back in goal for a period after cup game... etc.

You mentioned previously that full release likely to more difficult. Kind of hope so.

  17. For those asking the 4231 I used with Man Utd is this one. It has been posted previously and I originally found it on a YouTube video.

Definitely suggest modifying mentality based on Home vs Away and strength of opponent.

Also lowering defensive line as needed based on opponents strikers.

The BBM midfielder gets better stats compared to the DLP - in my season Pogba's numbers were not very good. Van Der Beek did very well.

Note on fitness: This is an all action tactic (like almost all good ones). So if you are winning by 2+ goals in last 20 minutes I change many settings to reserve fitness of players.

I had almost no long range goals, so Long Shots is an attribute I think has little value in this tactic and likely FM21. Good realism by SI with that.
