  1. I have a visceral hated of Steam Workshop. I see tons of great downloads on there; to get them, you click on 'subscribe'. And then what? I waste hours searching through folders within folders - some turn up in random locations, some turn up days later, some never download. I would probably be playing FM24 now if I could download some recent league mods, but I got bored with the old ones and Steam is so damned unfriendly to the user, I've given up.

Hi all doing a tier 10 youth academy challenge and noticed the option isn't available to 'upgrade youth facilities'.

This isn't an issue at the moment because I'm in tier 10 but can see it being a problem later on in the save.

After researching the issue I think it could be down to the chairman's attributes being low for youth priority?

Can this be fixed by getting 'develop players through youth academy' in the club vision?

Check if your club owns the ground and training facilities. You can't upgrade facilities that don't belong to you.

this got me thinking about the Advertising Standards Agency ( i'm a UK player) and their crackdown on gambling in football. In theory could their reach be extended to FM? I'm not a legal expert in any way but since SI is a UK Company are they under their pervue for the advertising arrangements?

The OP is raising a moral argument. Whether or not advertising gambling sites is legal here or there, a substantial amount of players of FM are underage and, in my opinion, should be shielded from such influences when playing the game. I play fantasy football, and the site I subscribed to for about 15 years started taking money from gambling sites and starting promoting their sites. I along with many others have since ceased subscribing to them in protest as this development.

One of FM's great strengths for me, is that it is a football simulation that can be enjoyed separate from the increasing commercialisation and raw greed in both the real-world game and in other computer games which require more and more ongoing financial inputs.  I'd like it to stay that way.

Ha! Thanks for this! It's her* though, a rare enough beast in FM, although hopefully getting better with the next release.

I think all the ideas about stories and motivations are right. What I didn't say about DeeBoi's stream is that there's just something cool about visiting nice cities all around the med. Maybe manage in towns or cities you've been to, or want to go to? Go on a tour of the Baltics. Spend your time in the sun somewhere? Go between teams that have the same sponsors? Try to win all the top level cups in South America? Or in Britain and Ireland?

Sorry about that - your avatar threw me.

I'm big on the motivation you stress here - my last tho campaigns, narrated here

THORFINN – A Sporting and Social Revolution Begins

    A Highlands & Islands Journey

are as much travelogues around my beloved Highlands and Islands of Scotland as FM careers.

You could just as easily narrate a journeyman career around the South Pacific or Caribbean as you could a one-club save around the Hellenic League or Norwegian Third tier.

You don't have to post a thread - you can indulge your OCD by googling the stadium and history of every opponent you face, stuff like that.

  5. "House rules" is the way to go. Over a dedicated ago, I abandoned the regular game for LLaMa. As you say, that can quickly get too easy due to poor  AI squad building and the ability of LLaMas to purchase players too good for the level. So over the last few years I've combined LLaMa with Youth (Academy) - Only challenges. That is, you cannot buy or acquire ANY player who does not come through your youth academy. Given that at LLaMa level your facilities are minimal, and you have no money to upgrade, it is proper difficult!

It's best as a one-club career. Don't get attached to the players as if they're any good they'll get poached, but you can become a club legend over time.

EDIT: I just noticed who the poster is above me - his lower league file would be a great place to start! The Editors Hideaway is a great place for people like me who find the 6th tier not 'lower league' enough :)

Kind of follow up question. I have loaded extra english leagues down to level 13. What happens in the game if i delete them when i have "arrived" in Conference north/south?

The game ceases processing those matches and leagues. It won't calculate league tables of the deleted leagues, and it will speed your processing up. If you subsequently get relegated into a league you deleted, you lose your job.

If I remember correctly all grey players all stats are set at 10

That's not so. I'm a very low league manager and 10s would be way too high for my level. But at such a low level they do tend to be better than my white players so I have to avoid the temptation to sign them. What does tend to be the case is that their PA is close to their CA from what I've seen, so they won't develop. There could be exceptions that I haven't come across.

    First off:

    incredible skin.

I'm completely lost but I love it. :D

    Have a question, though:

is this skin at all feasible for an LLM-save?
I'm currently managing in the thirteenth english tier and since you stated that all data in the pizza chart is shown as a comparison to players in the top 20 leagues.... I wonder if the data I see is at all useful for me?

My players have an average attribute rating of 5-6, after all... :D

I use it for my level 13 save. I find it MORE feasible given I try to create a 'realistic' narrative in my head. Our (two coaching) staff are amateur, we have no analysts, I'm unqualified - how on earth would I know if my midfield destroyer has 2 for tackling or 4? The pizza chart shows me that all my lads are hopeless, but some are determined and work hard or can run a bit and so on, and that feels good enough for me.
