  1. They can make a difference- it depends on their mood, finances available, their trust in your, and the chairman's personality. But I have noticed that there isn't a single option better than the others- you just need to talk to your board and see what works best.
  2. Keep in mind, I'm an Athletic supporter and play them every year in FM, but I'd strongly recommend them. They have a solid squad that can fairly easily finish in the top four in season one; given their transfer restrictions it's also really fun to go around scouting/developing youngsters and trying to bring in (or bring back) the best Basque players. Also a minor challenge in fending off interest in your best players from other clubs.
  3. Save the game where you are. Take the Metz job and save it separately. If you don't like it, you can always go back- or you can have two saves running simultaneously.
  4. Last year I did the Big Euro challenge and took Portugalete to the top. I don't remember what I won with them (pretty sure I won the Europa League), but I turned them into a top-tier Spanish team with a number of fantastic youngsters. It helped a lot that I got a tycoon takeover only two or three seasons in. EDIT: Just looked at my photobucket albums from that save. I won Liga Adelante in 2020-21, Copa del Rey in 2023, Europa League in 2026. Finished 4th in La Liga 2024-25, and third 2025-26. 2025-26 was the last season I had completed. I'm getting kinda nostalgic looking at these and now I wish I hadn't uninstalled FM15...
  5. Find senior affiliates, sell players for profit, and arrange friendlies with larger clubs; a healthy combination of these things should help at least a bit as far as finances. As others have said, though, the race is long. Pace yourself.
  6. Work permits for UK teams are annoying enough...but, seriously, the OP's issue smacks of bull to me. A Celtic player for a while, no issues, moves to England and no UK work permit?! It just doesn't make sense...
  7. Being a perennial manager of Athletic Club, youth development is something I've generally gotten pretty good at (I like to think). What I usually do is promote my best youngsters and make them available for the youth team almost immediately. At the same time, I try to get them a good tutor and bring them into a few games here or there as a sub. Depending on the needs of my team and how they've developed, I'll loan them after a season or two. For other ones (good, but not the best), I'll leave them in the youth team for a season or two while trying to tutor them, before either promoting them as I do with the brightest or moving them to the "B" team (obviously a unique thing for Spanish clubs) or loaning them out.
  8. I don't know- it makes sense to me. I'm currently running a save as Dundee FC and I have a midfielder who used to be four stars. I'm in my fourth season and he's still with the team and still fairly good, but I've since brought in a number of good players and promising youngsters, especially in the midfield. At the same time, my club's reputation has climbed a lot and the SPL is also climbing rankings. He still plays well for me (although he now plays a lot less), but now he's rated at 2.5 stars; I really don't see how that's unfair. The star system doesn't necessarily mean that a five star player is world-class, he's just five stars relative to your team/league. If you bring in all five star players, then it makes sense that they are now shown at a lesser rating. If the star system showed players ratings based on every player that you can scout, I would probably not have anybody above maybe three stars in my Dundee save because I have been scouting a number of top leagues/nations/competitions.
  9. It's probably because the overall quality of your team/league is increasing.
  10. They'll develop better with the B team because they play competitive matches against higher quality (sorta) opposition, though this is relative to what team you're playing as and what division their B team plays in. Though, what I tend to do with my best youngsters is promote them to the senior team, make them available for B team games, and then tutor them/play them in occasional matches against weaker opponents.
  11. Disclaimer: I'm really biased. Athletic Club. Pretty easy to finish top four in season one. With their transfer restrictions and excellent youth setup it's really fun and rewarding to nurture newgens as the game progresses.
  12. Could be a fluke, but in my current Athletic save (currently in 2020/21 season) I've seen some good newgens coming out of Israel. Maybe take a look at the Krakow teams (Cracovia and Wisla) in Poland; apparently one of the most intense rivalries in world football. Spartak Moscow in Russia could be interesting for you as well.
  13. Nation: Any (preferably Europe) Division: Top; maybe second-tier European Competition: doesn't matter Media Prediction: A team that's competetive; not necessarily top-tier, but mid table or higher Board Expectation(s): As long as they aren't strict about the style of football played, not a big deal. Transfer Budget: See "other" Wage Budget: See "other" Finances: Healthy at least Other: My main save right now is with Athletic Club (as it is every year save FM15). My newgens are coming along nicely, but I'm looking for a team without restriction and I'd like to just mess around and experiment a little; maybe tinker with FMRTE/scouting tools (don't do that on principle in main saves). I'd like a team in Europe that can attract quality youngsters from around the world, and it's a huge plus if they can recruit/develop good youngsters of their own. Also helps if they're lax on team registration rules. This means the team should probably be from an upper-tier Euro nation in their country's top league (not a requirement). I'd like it also if they are not a title challenger but are at least competitive; or are at least not very good in European competition. Not really looking for England/Scotland (work permits) or Germany (the national team thing that I'm too lazy to fix). As far as budgets, a little wiggle room in the wage budget is good so I can re-sign players as needed; as far as transfer budget it won't need to be the highest since I'll largely go after promising youngsters in lesser nations, but something is nice.
  14. PORTUGALETE 2025/26 SEASON REVIEW (finally) Manager Profile Manager Info I began this season back in January, while I was going through the game very quickly. Then, toward the end of the season, my save got corrupted so I began again. Due to that, plus general procrastination and getting sidetracked by other Steam games, I did not finish the season quickly at all...I just ended it today. Some of my summaries may be a bit shallow because I forgot a lot of what I had been doing four months ago! COMPETITIONS OVERVIEW LEAGUE TABLE First Half Results Second Half Results An excellent season in the league saw us finish comfortably in the top three. For much of the season we even led the league. However, an over-abundance of draws saw us fall short of the title. COPA DEL REY Results We didn't get very far at all before Barcelona sent us out of the competition. No big deal; the board didn't put any emphasis on this competition. CHAMPION'S LEAGUE Group A Table Results We easily qualified for the group stage after dispatching CSKA Moscow, but mixed results in the group stage knocked us out of this competition. Third was good enough to bring us to the Europa League. EUROPA LEAGUE Results We scraped our way through the stages and into the final...where we scraped by Barcelona to take home the trophy! (NOTE: If anybody still remembers my players, check out who scored the goal to allow us to eventually win) Best Eleven (4-2-3-1 wide, 2DM): Goalkeeper Bobby van Putten- Another solid season with more improvement from the wonderkid. Already an excellent goalkeeper before 21, he also had some excellent World Cup 2026 performances with the Dutch team. Defense Gary Baldwin (DR/DL)- I am weakest on my defensive wings, but Baldwin is doing quite well for a young player who was originally brought in for less than $2million. Guillermo Serrano (DC/DM/MC)- Yet another young player who hasn't yet reached his prime, Serrano has nonetheless been great for me in the middle of my defense. Really love his height! Eugene Maa Boumsong (DC)- In his sixth season with us, the Cameroonian remains a fixture in the team, but missed out on the World Cup. Lucas Digne (DL)- Being relatively weak at full-back, the veteran was brought in as a stopgap and as a tutor for younger fullbacks. Started slow, but had a good season overall. Midfield Boris Feigenwinter (DM/MC)- Has all the makings of a star for many years to come. Rodrigo Cartes (DM/MC)- Had a solid season in a position in which I have plenty of depth. Aitor Eraso (AMR/MR/AML)- A new signing for me, Eraso was excellent playing primarily on the right wing. Steffen Stokholm (AMC/ST/MC, Fans' Player of the Year)- Stokholm remains a fan favorite and with good reason. Excited to see this guy enter his prime years very shortly! Petar Dimitrov (AML/ML/AMR/MR)- With the club's riches, I probably could go out and find a winger with better attributes. But, can I really argue with the results I get from my young Bulgarian? Forwards Jesse Simmonds (World Golden Ball, European Player of the Year)- Simmonds was brought in for my largest-yet transfer fee. He duly delivered, banging in goals for both club and country while raking in the accolades. At only 24, he should only improve from here. TRANSFERS Big money spent this year on two big offensive signings, Aitor Eraso and Jesse Simmonds. I wanted a superstar striker to challenge for the title, and Simmonds fit the bill. Meanwhile. Aitor Eraso was brought in from Athletic to further bolster my attack- I also really wanted to bring local talent so I looked to our regional rivals. Left-back has been a constant problem for me, so veteran Lucas Digne was brought to the team to cover there. He's not a long-term option, but did just fine. Another PSG player, Suso, was brought in on a free and did well covering in the advanced midfield spots. FINANCES Awash with money....facilities improving. GOALS FOR 2026/27 - RECOVER: I forgot what I had been doing! I will be evaluating my team and will come up with more concrete goals as the next season progresses...
  15. So between work, a move to a new apartment, and a new girlfriend I have been distracted. But I'm finishing my 2025-26 season with Portugalete today. I should have my update soon, but it'll be less intensive since I forgot much of what I had been doing since January!
  16. So, between a busy work schedule and diversions from other games in my Steam library, I have been progressing very slow in my current season. Almost finished, though...
  17. I actually do this a lot, but usually just kinda in my head. Generally I do it before bed or when I'm extremely bored. I also daydream up backstories for my players, as well as snippets about them, myself, or my team as though it's a segment on a TV sports network.
  18. If I were from Norway, I don't think moving to Belgrade would fit my lifestyle all that much, either...
  19. I actually wouldn't mind this, though I may be interpreting it a bit differently- I would like to be able to schedule training camps/friendly tournaments/tours in specific countries as opposed to just scheduling a bunch of friendlies in one country. Maybe make it a board action or a board request?
  20. So, I know it's been a good while since my last Portugaelte update. Long story short: I was out of town visiting my parents for the New Year. When I came back, there were some issues that made it so that I did not have internet again until tonight. I'm nearing the end of the season that I was very close to finishing before my corrupted save. I would have finished it sooner if I had internet, but I've been playing it slowly because I didn't want to finish a season without a way to create an update. Never fear! Expect an update from Portugalete within the next few days...and, if things continue as they have been, it could be quite epic!
  21. If you get a player on a long-term injury you should get a message asking if you want to deregister the injured player.
