  1. Personally, I think those names are hilarious and awesome. It would be cool to start a journeyman career at somewhere like "Eleven Men in Flight" and then try to move up from there. However, I appreciate the limitations within which the mobile developers have to work.
  2. This is cool. I would like to understand it better. Is there a thread about it other than this one? Is there an explanation somewhere else? Thanks for any info.
  3. Is that version 14.4.0 ? I will give it another try and see how it goes.
  4. Sometimes if I am starting a save with a lower league club, I want to speed through the first season with a focus on scouting because I know I am going to be clearing out the majority of the squad and replacing them with free agents the following summer.
  5. An advantage of making this a paid option (aside from generating revenue) is that the developers could track how widely used this option is. Personally, I enjoy watching my players perform and would actually appreciate the chance to simulate a full match every now and then. That said, I can appreciate what other people are saying about wanting to save time and focus on squad building. This is a good discussion thread with a number of interesting points raised.
  6. Unfortunately, this closer to my experience. The last 7 or 8 mentorships that I have set up have ended in a bust up. They were all partnerships recommended by my assistant, so I would expect that at least some would have been successfully completed. Often they fail pretty fast, too. I have stopped using mentoring in this career. It is not worth the discord that it creates in my squad.
  7. I am playing as a lower league French club (St Malo), so I often pick up youngsters to train up in hopes that they can improve and wither be sold or (if I can keep them) improve my club. In my first few seasons, I have tried mentoring 8 or 9 youngsters and most of the time the partnership ends in a fallout between the mentor and the "mentee". I am using the recommendations of my assistant and only trying partnerships that are predicted to work out. Is this something funny with the game (mentoring has generally worked pretty well in the past) or maybe I am doing something wrong? Anyone have any advice for me?
  8. I have had this issue with 14.3.0. Hard to send a save game since it hangs during saving. This is an intermittent problem. Also, the saving process actually works, but you have to close the game and restart to continue playing.
  9. Another thing (save-related) that I have seen with the latest update (14.3.0) is that some time when you do a manual save the game hangs. Fortunately, the save works, but you have to kill the game and restart when this happens. I am using a Galaxy S20 Note Ultra, so not the latest and greatest, but still a decent processor. Anyway, just an FYI. Since it locks up and only occurs occasionally I can't submit a save game to demonstrate the issue.
  10. Yes, that is a bit counterintuitive, but seems to do the trick. Thanks!
  11. I just hired a tactical analyst for my club and want to assign him to scouting the opposition and preparing the crouting reports on them. I have two scouts. How do I make sure that it is my tactical analyst and not my youth scout who is monitoring the upcoming opposition?
  12. I agree with you that inverted winger seems to be the closest to what you want from your forward player. I am confused about you wing backs. Are you wanting your wing backs to underlap or overlap? Should they go infield to combine with you inverted winger or do you want them to go outside your inverted winger to provide width when the IW cuts infield? I always thought inverted wingers acted a bit like central midfielders on offense, which is why I have never used them very much.
  13. I got these cash infusions in FM22 a few times and as I recall the cash showed up soon after the message. Maybe that has changes in FM23?
  14. This is more of a guess, but I would expect an inverted winger and and inverted wing back when playing together would try to occupy the same spaces. Maybe if they were super-smart they would interchange, but that wouldn't be my default expectation. I haven't personally tried what you are suggesting, but I find that inverted wing-backs do underlap wingers and that wing-backs do overlap inverted wingers/IFs. I play a lot in lower leagues, so you may be using significantly more savvy players than what I have at my disposal.
  15. When I am scouting, particularly for lower league clubs, I often run across players with Poor Judgememt. I sometimes sign them and they seem to perform reasonably well. What are the consequences on player performance of the Poor Judgement personality trait?
  16. Update: I figured it out. In the Board Request menu, at the bottom left there is a button to toggle between club board and national team board. By clicking that I was able to offer my resignation to the national team board. Hope this helps if anyone else ends up in a similar situation.
  17. I was bumping along a few years into my Lower League management career and surprisingly a National team offered me the job as manager. I decided to give it a try, but it turns out that I am not enjoying it much. I am considering quitting, but I can't find a way to do that. Am I just going to have to keep at it until I get fired? (Which might not take that long since my results are mediocre).
  18. I have been using Inverted Wingers instead of Inside Forwards. I am down in the VNS, so a slightly different situation, but it is working fairly well for me.
  19. I am looking for "Job Status" in FMM23. Is it still included? It was on the board request screen in FM22.
  20. Yes, click on whatever it says the personality is. For example just click on the word "Normal".
  21. I don't know if everyone has noticed this in FMM23. There is a new feature where the game gives you more information about a player's personality. In previous years, a player's personality would be, "Loyal" or "Normal". This year, if you click on "Normal" a little box pops up with additional information, such as "Lazy", "Consistent", "Unprofessional", etc. I like to have players with what I consider to be positive personality traits in my squad, so I find this extremely useful, particularly when considering a new signing. Great job FMM creators, I love this new feature!
  22. I have had a scenario where i am the most successful club in Portugal, I have a top academy with a gold star youth coach and no youth intake over several seasons. My guess is that I had too many young players in my squad already or maybe my squad was too big. When I moved to another club I didn't buy as many youngsters and I found I was getting youth intakes again despite the academy not being as good.
  23. It would be great to have Brazil. To me that is the biggesr omission in FMM. They produce a lot of talent and they have fun competitions. It would also greatly enhance the Copa Libertadores. Personally, I would also love to have Colombia, but I expect that is likely never coming to mobile.
