I want to set up an combined American Champions League that pulls clubs from North and South America, replacing Copa Libertadores and the Concacaf Champions League. I did this successfully in FM 13, but the Editor has changed quite a bit since then.
When I did this for FM 13, I was able to modify the Continental Qualification rules for South America to include all nations in both continents. I tried doing this by adding Club Continental rules through the Basic Editor. If I specify a continent (North America) for the rules, and I add nations from both North and South America under Qualification System, I get an error saying that "Qualification system uses Brazil from a different continent." I seem to be unable to enter "None" as the continent.
I looked at some files from this forum that set up a Worldwide Champions League (like this one: https://community.sigames.com/topic/505396-fm20-worldwide-champions-league-update-18112020/ ). It looks like the way to do it is to add a new competition, then use the "Required Teams" panel in the Advanced Editor to select the participating nations, and then use the Advanced Editor panel to add Stages, etc. to my new competition. Then presumably I would set the existing Copa Libertadores and Concacaf Champions League to extinct.
Does this general approach sound right? Any advice on how to best set this competition up is welcome. Thank you!
