  1. No belters, I think you're just making that up.

But placed finishes are unrealistically slow meaning that for finishes after you've taken it beyond the keeper the defence have a reasonable chance of reaching it before it crosses the line.

Watch finishes for low crosses, they don't tap it home but cushion it in a lot of the time taking pace off it, I don't know why this is in the ME but it looks horrible to me

The ability graph is unreliable as it's based on your assistant's subjective opinion and if the rest of your team improves too then a player can get better with no corresponding rise in star rating. And if a player is on a good run of form he tends to have a better star rating even though his attributes are the same, I have had a player fluctuate from 3 stars to 4 and a half stars and back over the same season despite his attributes remaining flat.

As one can see his attributes didn't jump in the same way his ability did

In the long-term it won't make a dent on their plans.

That's not why they are hosting it though. Just as the main reason brands advertise is to put their names into your mind, Qatar will have some legitimacy and recognition merely by hosting the world cup, and not locking up any journalists etc

I don't think any sensible people are suggesting that the excitement of the football makes any difference to the Qatari legacy.

    Bonjour,

Hmmm. I’m not asking them to cross less. Our crossing accuracy is 1000% better than the next best. Not saying you’re not right but there’s outliers then there’s different universe.

would love to hear from someone at SI on this. To confidently say the stats are robust. I’m having doubts and with so few outputs, stats are important. If they’re wrong it’s game breaking as that’s what FM players rely on to devise tactics, strategies and counter the opposition.

anyone at SI care to comment? Would love to stand corrected and hear stats are accurate

One thing that jumps out to me is that your rivals have bizarrely terrible crossing completion percentages.

I play vertical tiki-taka which is fairly narrow and prioritises working the ball into the box over crossing and therefore I have a high completion percentage comparable to yours. For some reason other teams on your data are in the low single digit percentages, whereas on my save other teams have much more normal success with crossing. Unless you've managed to clone David Moyes from that 2-2 against Fulham and put him in charge of all your rivals.

The issue is not your numbers, but those of your rivals imo

  7. Of course there's a lot of luck, otherwise the better side always wins, whether that's FM or real life.

What you can do is put yourself in a position so that an unlikely long range shot that goes in is less likely to be the winner and merely the first goal in a loss and so on. Kudos to anyone that reloads the game if they win when their small striker with terrible heading manages to convert a cross or they are outplayed but happen to win because it feels unfair.

If anything I wish there was more luck and less influence of morale on performances.

The issue with these threads is that people want rankings to match the eye test. The problem is that the eye test is subjective and so FIFA mirroring the ELO system is as close to objective as it gets

Yes, other than results what else can you base it on?

In the league we never hear that the table is clearly rubbish because a lower ranked side wins.

Also, by basing it on results and specifying the rules in advance you avoid accusations of fixing for World Cup draws and the like. Want to be in a better pot? Beat more teams to improve your ranking.

  9. It was a bit of a tossup between Livakovic and Bono for me but Morocco having a decent keeper with hands and feet allowed them to keep possession when appropriate and build up their own attacks in a way that most teams that defend first simply don't.

Overall Lloris did better than I expected, guess France conceded too many and had no penalty saves for him to win but he made some good saves in the knockouts, and got a bit unlucky that his save happened to go to Messi for the extra time goal yesterday.
