  1. I am glad you approve! He has since lobbed the keeper twice in three apps for AZ
  2. In the end I decided to cash in on Lucas as I could not risk losing him for nothing. With the strikers I noticed that Mbom could play as an AMC as well so in the end I decided to sell one of my AMC's instead and keep Ngah as backup for Sesma. That decision has been proven to be the correct one, since I got Ngah to sign a new contract that will keep him at the club for three more years with the same wage and his performance so far has been brilliant! I also decided to keep both Lenilson and Kozak at the club and give them plenty of minutes as backup for Van Diemen. However events on deadline day is sure to sadden @NineCloudNine! AZ Alkmaar came in with a loan offer for Lenilson at the last minute and I decided to let him continue his development with them.
  3. I am sure Man Utd think that someone cheated as well. This game cost them the league title in 2012!! These things happens all the time in real life as well as in the game. I just had this result. I won on penalties, but notice when Newcastle scored. There was a minimum of 5 minutes of added time. If the game cheated I would have lost the penalty shoot out. Since the game does not cheat it was just a freak result. Anoying and frustrating! Of course, but that does not mean that the game is out to get you! It never ceases to amaze me that some people really thinks that SI woud deliberately program their game to "cheat"so that their customer lose games. Why on earth would they do that? It makes no sense from a financial perspective.
  4. You do not put much stock in personality do you? Getting rid of two model citizens in one window.
  5. I just signed a word class 21 year old striker with model citizen personality in Patrice Mbom. I really did not need a striker but when this guy got transfer listed and I was able to buy him for just £63 million I had to sign him! The issue now is that I play a 4-4-2 narrow diamond and I now have 6 strikers competing for two spots. With the strikers I have I just can't give all of them the playing time they want, or need to develop, so I have to decide what I am going to do with my strike force. Who would you sell and who would try to arrange a loan for? The strikers are: 28 year old Ander Sesma. A world class player and club legend! He has two years left on his contract and he is one of the best paid players at the club. Since I am currently over my wage budget that is something I have to consider? Last season he scored 26 goals and had 16 assists in all comps. 29 year old swedish striker Junior Ngah. Home grown in nation, model citizen and highly influential player. He got one year left on his £650k a month deal. If I renew the contract we probably need to increase his wages. He scored 13 goals and had 7 assist as the backup striker last season. 23 year old dutchman Dave van Diemen. A world class striker with 3 years left on his £498k a month contract. Resolute personality. Scored 23 and had 10 assists in all comps last season. 20 year old academy prospect Branislav Kozak with 4,5 star potential. Perfectionist personality. 11 goals in 12 starts (18 apps as a sub) last season. 1 assist. 21 year old brazilian wonderkid Lenilson. Like Kozak he is a perfectionist striker with 4.5 star potential. What would you do? Would you sell Sesma to get rid of the wages? Would you arragne loans for Kozak or Lenilson or both?
  6. It is presason in 2041 and I am building my squad for the upcomming season. I have a few world class players that I need to decide if I am going to keep them or let them go. Since I'm having problems deciding what to do, I decided to ask the community here what they would do in my stead. The first player I need to decide on is Lucas. Lucas is 30 on massive wages. He has one year left on his contract and is currently unwilling to negotiate a new contract because previous negotiations broke down. I want to keep him, but Real Madrid came in with an offer of 46,5 mill for him and he can become unsettled if I refuse them. Normaly I would let him go since he is my best paid player and getting on a bit, but the dilemma is in his personality. I have a few high potential youngsters with poor personalities and this guy is a team leader with model citizen personality. He is the ideal mentor for them. That makes me want to keep him. However, I have another model citizen full back in Learte Capuchinho. Capuchinho is 4 years younger and he just accepted a new 5 year deal. He is a highyl influential player, but is unlikely to make the step up to team leader if I decide to sell Lucas. He will be a very good mentor for the younger players, but not as good as Lucas. With the new deal he earns less then half of what Lucas is on, but I do believe that I can get Lucas to sign a new contract on reduced wages. However if Lucas does become unsettled if I refuse Real then I risk losing Lucas on a free next summer. Another factor is that Lucas is home grown at club while Capuchinho is not, but I do have enough home grown players so that I meet registration rules even if I sell Lucas. What would you do if you where in my shoes?
  7. That's why I wrote etc.. If your rep is so low that you can't sign youth players from the championship then you go down and do the same for League One. Then League Two and so on. Even a youth player from a League Two teams, is probably good enough to make your team better. I would also load the scottish, irish and Welsh leagues and try to find players there as well.
  8. As V50 said. Loans and free transfers are the way to go. Make sure to scout every youth player from bigger leagues, (PL, Championship etc.) and sign the ones you can get when their contract expire. (Provided they are not completly useless). Focus on young players and plan several years ahead! Focus more on PA over CA when you sign players. You want players than can grow with you as you go up the ladder. Do trail farming! (Most contract expire on the same date. When that happends you offer trial to as many players as you can. You will find a few gems this way.
  9. And Voila! This has to be the most satisfying way I have ever gotten a job! I feel like an evil genius!
  10. Thankfully they just needed a little nudge 😏 Pressed continue once 😂
  11. For the record. I am managing Bayern Munich so this is not my losing streak, but how on earth has the United manager manged to keep his job after this streak? (Including a FA-Cup defeat against Millwall (20th in the championship)!! I amagine a scenario where the United manager has piles of dirt on the United board so that he is unsackable! That, or there is some kind of voodoo spelll!
  12. Firstly I want to thank you for this thread, you inspired me to try somehing similar and the results has been amazing! My version is similar to yours but with one major difference. I invert my wing backs to try and overload the midfield even more, and I though that maybe you could try something similar if you want to be more solid at the back for those big games? I am not scoring as freely as you have (91 goals in 34 matches), but I am not conceding as much as you either. (26 in 34). The Trequartista is performing like a beast here as well. (22 goals and 22 assist for the main man, and 19 / 15 for the backup)
  13. I must say that this forum is not what it used to be! I've been lurking on this forum for the last couple of days now, and there is hardly any activity at all! It makes me sad, because I remember the olden days when things were very different! (I have been on/off lurking here for the last 10 years at least.) I came back just to give you guys an update if you are interested, (You are going to get it regardless of interest 😏)as well as say thank you for the help I received. I appreciate the people that took the time to give me a respons, and even if i manged to solve the problems on my own, it is alwas helpfull just to write down your problems and get other peoples perspective on your issues. Thank you for that! Anyway. I managed to solve my problems against smaller teams. The way I went about it was that I looked at my formation and though about how well I covered space, and how I could exploit space better. Then it hit me that I am playing with inverterd wing backs and wingers with cut inside instructions. I realized that I was not exploiting the space in the wide areas and I tried to attack the area in the centre where the opponent usually have at least one and often also two holding midfielders. It's no wonder that I struggled to score goals when you try to make everything happened in the most congested area of the pitch. Having identified where I had trouble it was quite easy to fix my issues. I just removed the cut inside instructions from my wingers and voila! You can see the difference that small change made. I am still holding my own agaist the big teams, but look at the scores against the smaller side. Before I struggled to get 1 goal and two was almost a dream. Now I put 3 and 4 past them on a regular basis! However, I still struggle with the 4-4-2 though now I usually find a way to win, but I score less and I also have less possession. Often below 50% something that is strange because I usually dominate possession against all other formations. Does anyone have a theory why that is?
  14. From the data hun you can see that I do create chances and have a high XG, but we are quite wastefull...
  15. The screen shot above illustrates my point about struggeling against more defensive teams. You can see that so far this season I have beaten Bayern Leverkusen twice (They are very good in this universe). I won against A. Madrid and RB Leipzig and I managed a credible draw against Bayern. IE doing well against the good teams. However I only managed to scrape wins against Freibug and Wolfsburg (Both are relegation candidates) and I drew against a nevle promoted Werder as well as against Anderlecht in the Champions League. Alle the above is teams I should beat comfortably. One or two freak results against these teams is to be expected, but this is a clear trend that continue on from the title winning season as well.
  16. I know that Bayern still have a squad that is stronger than mine. And the same is probably true for Dortmund and Leverkusen. That is to be expected at a club like Augsburg because of the financial constrains. However I believed that the squad should be good enough to at least challenge for the title. Before the tactical change I was not even close. Since I managed to win the bundesliga in the last season I was proven right that I was underperforming with the squad I had, and the issue was tactical. I probably overachieved last season, because Bayern and Dortmund both had poor seasons. The original issue on this tread no longer apply. I can hold my own against the bigger teams now, but I often struggle to score against the more defensive teams, especially against teams that use a 4-4-3. Thats why I would like to hear from you guys how you go about breaking down the defensive teams.
  17. Tactic time 😊 I'll give you the context of the tactic switch first. I was trying to make the previous tactic to work against the big guys, so I ended up save scumming a game against Dortmund 30-40 times and doing minor tweaks each time to see if I could get something to work. The result. 0 victories, 0 draws, some close games, but mostly drubbings. The results made the decision to change tactic an easy one. Since my team is Man Utd, I decided I wanted to try a tactic inspired by Ten Hag. With my limited tactical knowlede I tried to analyse what I think Ten Hag is trying to do. I might be wrong but here are my thougts. Under Ten Hag, Man Utd want to play out from the back as much as possible. Both full back tend to invert to provide extra cover in midfield. The centre back tend to split wide and the defensive midfielder drops deep between them when defending. The second midfilder is more offensive thus creating a 4-1-4-1 shape when the team is attacking. The wingers stay wide on both sides but when in possession both wingers will cut inside. My Ten Hag inspired tactic looks like this: The inverted wing back on attack is the Luke Shaw role. He will be more free to go forward and support the attack, while the inverterd wing back on support is the Dalot/Wan Bissaka role. They are more likely to invert to provide an extra man in midfield although they will still attack if given the opportunity. To try to reacreate this I have created a mirror tactic that only switches the IWB's role. I frequently change between the two during matches to. The Half back is obviously playing the Casemiro-role. Providing an outlet when we try to play out from the back, and also dropping down between the centre backs when defending. The regista is where my tactic differs from Ten Hag in that he uses more of a Box-to-Box midfielder in that role. I tried a Segundo Volante in that role but with that role I struggled to progress the ball forward. I also wanted more of a creator from deep so thats why I landed on the Regista. The AM on attack is to recreate Bruno Fernandes role. He is a play maker, but he will also not sit in the hole and spray passes. Thats why I landed on the AM-A role but with PI's to close down more, take more risk and roam from position. On the wings I first tried to use Inverted Forwards and Inverted Wingers with the stay wider instructuion, but I felt that it did not work as I wanted to and the players playing there also did not get good ratings. Therefore I decided to switch it around and use winger-roles with cut inside istructions instead. That worked much better. Both wingers also has close down more as PI's as well. AS I mentioned in a previous post, my result is much improved with the new tactic, but I still have a few issues that I hope someone can help me with. One is chance creation. I seem to rely on long shots a lot, and often struggle to score against more defensive teams. Especially if the other team use a 4-4-2 formation. I have tried to use Work Ball into box, but without the desired effect. The most important roles in this tactic imo is the three in midfield. So here are my first choice for those roles. The Regista (Still has significant room for growth!): The Attacking Midfielder:
  18. Ha! Great minds think alike !😏 He was mostly played as a centre back in the previous tactic because i lacked quality players in central defence. I have sinces strenghtened the centre back position, and now he is killing it as a Half Back in my current system!
  19. Best player. Probably this guy. The issue was never the players. Squad building is what I am good at. I have never been good at the tactical side, but in previous versions of FM I have always been able to hide my tactical ineptitude by recruiting the right players for their roles. The issue was tactical, and lets be honest. The tactic I posted was not very good so I eneded up scrapping it and trying something different and more ortodox. With the new tactic I ended up winning the bundesliga in my first full season as well as reaching the semi finals in both the DFB-Pokal and the Champions League. (Knocked out Juventus and Real Madrid before Barcelona ended my CL dreams.) I will post an update with the current tactic when I have the time.
  20. Thank you for your reply. Funny you should suggest the car and IFB combo, because that was actually what I did in the "first" version of the tactic. With sadly much the same result. The DPL also started off as a DM before changing to a BWM and lastly to the DPL. Maybe I have to give up the treq to get more defensive stability, but I am loathe to do that because he is scoring for fun at the moment!
  21. I think that I am quite decent at FM, but FM24 has been a real struggle for me, and I need help! I was able to be succsessfull early on by beeing good at squad building in smaller nations before I got my big move to Augsburg in Germany. Initially I did well there as well, and I have managed to build a team that is good enough to qualify for the Champions League, but I really struggle with the next step (Winning things.) I like to focus on squad building and youth development and after 4 years at Augsburg my squad should now be good enough to challenge Bayern for the title, but I'm not. When I managed in other countries I had better players then the competition, and that camuflaged my tactical ineptitude. Not so in Germany. When I play the big sides (Bayern, Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Leverkusen etc.) it's like hitting a brick wall. I get completly outplayed every time. When I play weaker sides, I usually do well against the mid table sides, but again when I play the relegation candidates I struggle to score and I am so easy to counter against. I do not like to download or copy tactics that someone has created, and ussually I land on a tactic to a lot of trial and error. When I find something that I am satisfied with, I stick with that tactic for the rest of the save. In FM24 I have not found anything that works long term, and I have tried almost everything, but I can't get consistent results. My current tactic: There is no PI's. What is working well is the left side with the treq. He is my top scorer and avrages about a goal every 2 games or so. My problem is that I tend to lose the ball in the centre and get countered a lot. I have tried differnent formations. from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-3 and even 4-4-2. I have tried high press, mid block, low block, I have adjusted the defensive line, a have adjusted the mentality, but nothing seems to work, and it's usually the same story every time. I change tactic and do well for 5-10 games before I become incisistent again. Rince and repeat! If anyone has any ideas on how I can improve the tactic I would really appreciate it!
  22. The board for some reason thinks I am not growing the clubs reputation enough. They are a demanding bunch! NB! Before someone asks me to report it in the bugs forum. It's reported, and my save file is uploaded.
