  1. If you look on reddit, it seems to be all 99% of people who play it even look at. "MY five star youth regen dropped to 4.5 when I signed him, so now he sucks!" "This one star potential guy scored a hat trick? OMG HOW?" It's really tedious to see; People just really don't seem to understand the whole point of the stars at all.
  2. Funny that. I just came back here to post that this was the solution I worked out myself. I tried pushing him forward, making him take further risks etc, but eventually figured the issue was he was too close with the Mezz. With a stay wider instruction he now has a bit more room to move around in, is exchanging places/runs with the Mezz and is forming a triangle with the Mezz and striker. Now, when my left flank doesn't demolish the opposition (as is tradition), my right flank will demolish it instead. My IW is now contributing more in assists, goals and key creative passes, which is more of what I wanted to see from them. And I still see the behaviour I want, which is a winger cutting inside and causing mischief. My main IW/S - Sancho, from 16 games is averaging 7.36 (8.9-6.4), with 7 goals and 7 assists My young, somewhat inconsistent youngster from 14 games is averaging 7.03 (8.5-6.2) with 3 goals, 3 assists. A lot better, and exceeding their seasonal averages across the board, so the final piece of the puzzle is now in place and I can be confident that the tactic is more or less whole. So, I'm a happy manager now.
  3. A little wary of doing so, as I feel the WB/S is a fairly aggressive role as it is, and with the Mezzala moving out, I worry it may lead to exposure on the right wing. Not really interested in changing the Mezzala, or the DLP to be honest; they're doing the job I expect of them with the goalscoring and assists. I don't see the point in changing a role that is working very well in its function.
  4. Off the back of a 29 appearance season. He's 22, and essentially rotates often with Jadon Sancho on the right wing. He gets a lot of sub ins as well - the wingers run riot, so they're often exhausted. He is adamant he won't make it at United. He refused to consider loans, saying that he's not developed as much as others in his age group - he's one of the most highly rated 22 year olds out there. I don't really get his logic at all. At 22 years of age, if I look back at his forms page, he's playing in some form or another in 10/11 league games, and started in 7 of those, where he was subbed off just the once. For all intents and purposes, he's a first teamer. His squad status is a squad player and his playing time is matched, and he's delighted to be getting so many games. I don't really understand it at all.
  5. It's a bit dodgy. I've got a Squad player, who has agreed and actual playing time matched up. And he rocked the boat about his playing time. Normally I don't mind it, but the reports always get it wrong, by saying that I'm not holding my end of the bargain, when I am. I'd be more understanding if the reports changed to say that they wanted to improve their playing time rather than saying I'm not giving them the agreed time.
  6. Legitimate sites: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/footballmanager2022/info/ You could also check the SI's list of approved sellers, if you really want to avoid potential minefield sites. I can't remember where the list is though, I'm sure a mod will pop in with the list at some point.
  7. I have a tactic set up, which is performing well and is winning me titles and so on. But in the search for perfection, or optimisation, I come seeking some advice. My formation is a 4-3-3 (DM) variant, it's a modified template of the gegenpress, but is basically tuned to be lower tempo, so it's not total overkill. Anyway, it works put it that way, we've won record breaking points hauls for four seasons on the bounce. Everyone gets 7-8+ average ratings, my main goalscorer is an IF on the left wing (intended), and the team regularly scores via a DLF, DLP and Mezzala, so I have FOUR goalscoring outlets (crazy, I know). I also have a hefty amount of assists coming from the DLP/Mezz combination, so they're working like a well oiled machine. My issue is the right wing; When it works, it's superb, honestly. But say, 6 times out of 10, they're mostly anonymous, in fact, they're the ONLY position to get under a 7 average rating consistently across the seasons, bar the odd season where they outperform and score goals to pad the rating. Therefore, my conclusion is that I must have the wrong role selected for this particular position, since the rest is pretty much top tier. Here's my tactic: Again, as I said, main scorer is the IF, which is what I want. A lot of the play is central/left. The issue is the IW/S is underperforming. Checking the pass maps, I see the IW is probably too close to the Mezzala for comfort, but I'm trying not to switch them to a bog standard winger - I kind of like the idea of having them as a creative passing outlet. I'm not too familiar with using a Treq/AP out on the wings to be very honest, so would anyone be happy to advise on how they might play around a Mezzala? For the record, the people I use in the IW role are Sancho (right footed) and Diallo (left footed) - both blow very hot and cold in that position, again it's the only position averaging 6.8-9 basically, they'll have one or two good games then a sting of 6.2-5 performances, so I'm clearly not getting the best of them. Any help? It would be great to get that position working as it would basically finish off the tactic.
  8. Remember, you can always reject their demands. Don't offer them a contract. Don't offer them a pay rise. There's always younger, hungrier talents out there to buy. Don't get yourself an Anthony Martial, a player who is awful and you can't shift.
  9. It's me, but it doesn't stop the game automatically confirming transfers
  10. UK and Ireland count as the same 'home' for adaptability purposes I would expect.
  11. Nah. I think 22 would suit me for another season to be honest. I don't see any value in buying the game annually anymore. 22 has so many bugs slipping through it is quite poor in that respect, and I can't say with confidence that they would be stamped out for 23. But then again, I'm not playing FM as keenly as I used to anyway, so that's the major reason really.
  12. How do I take over confirmation of transfers? I have all transfer options in my control, yet my Loan Manager is reporting that the club is finalising the transfers without letting me confirm whether I'm happy for them to go through?
  13. Fired up a new game, and finding something a bit silly; Not even October and three or four players 'jaded' and in need of a rest. Might just be me, but I've never seen so many players jaded so soon. I did as full a pre-season as possible given the settings of the game, but to have them wiped out after 10 games is pushing it a bit at pro level.
  14. Probably a simple matter, but I'm just looking for re-assurance I'm on the right track here; When scouting a nation, my understanding is the scout will travel the nation's competitions, trying to find a 'squad' level player. I.e. set to scout England, he'll go to the EPL, the Championship, FA Cup and whatever. As a result, they will often miss young prospects as they're focusing on the senior level competitions. So, for the purposes of scouting youngsters would the priority basically be; 1. Scouting the U18 competition 2. Scouting the "Reserves"/ U23 competition 3. Scouting the nation as a whole Lastly; Can you assign a scout to scout two competitions concurrently; For example, if I set a scout to do U18's England the U18's World Cup, would he have the sense to switch between the two as needed, or will he refuse to do the International competitions until the domestic is 'complete'? I ask, because I tend to leave scouting assignments as 'ongoing', so if they won't switch, I guess I would need to set it to 'until finished'? However, wouldn't this be a bit of a PITA if there are mid-season qualifiers for example? Any clarification is appreciated. Thanks.
  15. I throw them on. Never really had an issue with performances, or having to bleed them in. I find they usually have an instant impact - a goal or a 8+ performance or whatever. Youngsters are the one I might break in with sub appearances and rotations, but more senior players just get throw in.
  16. Use the pre-game editor, in tools section of Steam to adjust United perhaps? You can have a lot of fun with it, because it's a single player game and its your own save file, and everyone will disagree on how far to ring the changes. I set it so Pogba, Matic, Lingard and Cavani are set to leave on a free transfer at the end of their contracts. I adjusted Matic's contract to end in 2022 for that to work, because he's contracted to 2023 in the game (it should be 22, with an option to extend). Immediately this gives you so many problems because you'll not be able to cash into Pogba's talent (though I suppose many United fans won't want him in the club anyway). I downgraded several players; Maguire, Martial and Rashford in particular, dropping some of their attributes to the 14 range, rather than the generous 15+'s they already have. I also gave a very slight boost to Ronaldo ~ personally, don't see how half the squad is rated higher than him in vision, passing and dribbling - he's not 15+ in those categories anymore, but I think Fred and McTominay are rated better than him in those categories for whatever reason. (Really? McFred? Come on...) Depending on how fair you are with your culls/attribute changes, you could be in for a fairly rough time. Gut the vastly over-rated defence (Bailly and Maguire especially, though you can argue for taking some points off Lindelof too), and perhaps AWB's attacking attributes, and you've got a fairly fragile backline, with arguably every player needing replacing except Varane. Adjust Fred and McTominay slightly (more Fred tbh) and you have a fairly weaker holding midfield grouping, although they're both poor anyway. So, that's another two positions to consider. With Martial and Rashford downgraded a bit (Rashford doesn't strike me as a 19 flair player in particular), and you may end up with a fairly unreliable left wing, and you need to consider your right wing given Lingard is leaving. After chipping away at the team, my top three in terms of current ability were; Bruno, Ronaldo, Varane ~ I didn't touch Bruno (I think his poor decision making will impact his credible technical abilities), I mostly adjusted fairly trivial attributes for Ronaldo (I felt his decisions, work rate and passing were a bit harsh compared to the entire squad...), and haven't touched Varane. And the following players make up the rest of the top tiers; (Pogba, Sancho, Rashford, De Gea) Should be a fun save perhaps?
