  1. Oescus: the team comparison screen can be found on your team screen - click the button/column marked "report" on the far right (below "continue" and choose comparison on the list that appears.
  2. Thanks for your reply, and sorry about being so slow to respond. Not sure how I got my specialist role count so much higher than you, will have to think more about the rigidity/balance. What would be the pros and cons of rigid/balanced/fluid with my formation and roles? About the point you make regarding team comparison and Liverpool being good on passing - I've always taken this to mean that my team have good passers, but not necessarily that they are the best at judging how we should play, this seems like an issue closer linked to mental attributes (if it should be left up to the players at all)? To try taking a different approach to this: Given my tactic - what shouts would people use to try to accomplish my desired style of play?
  3. Hi, was hoping to get some feedback regarding my new tactics. Just started playing this years version, and thought I’d change up my usual, semi-direct playing style for a more possession based approach. My board wants possession football, and I would love to get a good, balanced tactic going. I want possession, but I’m no fanatic, to put it that way. By this I mean that I would prefer my team to play patiently by building from the back with short passing and having an advanced playmaker who both controls play, plays some good through balls and gets into good goal scoring positions, but I still want the team to take their chances on the counter, and I do not want the tactic to be too restricting – the occasional longer ball or speedy attack when that is what the free space invites, is quite allright by me, as long as the main style is possession based with short passes. The main point is that I want shorter passes, and good use of the space that good movement hopefully frees up for my team. My tactic, in its current state, is a wide 4-2-3-1: GK (D) – WB (A), CD (D), CD (D), WB (S) – CM (D), CM (S) – IF (S), AP (S), IF (A) – AF (A). I use “attacking” and based on the specialist roles – “rigid”. Tried to base this on wwfans’ “Twelve Step Guide” and llama3’s “Pairs & Combinations” – both threads a great read by the way , really changed my views on quite a few things. I’ve noticed that my shouts seem to influence play more clearly than before, at least that’s my impression, but I’m still not completely satisfied with the way my team plays. I should mention that the PL has just recently started, so I don’t expect my team to play exactly as instructed just yet, I’m more interested in feedback regarding my formation and tactics in general, to see if I might have grasped some of the excellent points made in the various threads in this forum. My shouts are “shorter passing”, “slower tempo”, “stay on feet” and “press more”. My player instructions are mostly default, apart from GK who has shorter passing and distribute to defense, and my CM (D) who is told to shoot from long as little as possible. The lineup I use, or plan to use, will most likely be something like this, in case it could be of relevance: Mignolet – Corchia/Jonathan (Inter), Sakho/Zouma, Agger/Doria, Enrique/Cissokho – Romero/Zuculini, Gerrard/Alberto/Honda – Aspas/Sturridge/Sterling, Coutinho/Honda/Alberto, Suarez/Sterling – Lewandowski/Suarez/Sturridge. Would really appreciate some feedback, thoughts or comments from the many great posters on here.
  4. Played on a bit before reading your reply, and so far I've managed to play for a while without issues. Noticed you had advised another user struggling with blue screen errors to clear preferences, cache and reverify, so tried that in addition to changing the rendering mode, and this seems to have helped. If the blue screen issue returns, I'll report back, and try what you suggested in the post above this, thanks again for your replies! Btw: Loving the game so far!
  5. Had another go, got through about two hours of shortlisting players, setting up friendlies, firing staff and starting to build a tactic, and then the blue screen was back. If it helps - before the actual blue screen the image seems to get a couple of green/brownish fields scattered across the UI, and the game freezes for a couple of seconds, and then it goes blue. Pretty sure the blue screen text was the same as last time. Hope this can be resolved, my two hours was more than enough to get me excited about the new edition.
  6. Hi, and thank you for taking the time to answer me, I really appreciate it. Have not tried starting the game again, partly because of my fear that repeated blue screens may have a detrimental effect on my laptop (again, pls correct me if I'm wrong about this), and partly due to a lack of time. I've not had any hardware changes, but did install quite a lot of Windows updates (had neglected these for a little while previously) maybe a month ago, nothing besides this as far as I can remember. Will try running again as soon as I have the time, will keep my fingers crossed - and report back either way. Btw: Will turn on the "new file for every save" option, and I never have autosave set to less than weekly, most often i use daily autosave. Thanks again.
  7. Hi, as the title indicates, I just had a blue screen error. I started a new game, and didn't make it longer than to the meeting where I was supposed to introduce myself to the squad (I must have made quite a first impression), before the error occured. Had only played two hours before the latest update, due to the game crashing with a blue screen then as well, so was really looking forward to getting started on the update in the hope that what caused my first crash was now taken care of. I really hope someone may have an idea about how to rectify this, I really want to get going, but don't want to risk my computer in the process (correct me if I'm wrong, my technical competence is fairly low, but I suspect that continuing blue screen errors aren't the best way to keep my laptop in good shape...). I realize that you might need more info about my laptop, if that is the case, feel free to ask, and I'll do my best to come up with the info. Managed to get a picture of the blue screen with my cell phone camera, but (probably due to my already mentioned technical abilities) I was not able to upload it. Anyway, the text (didn't get a shot of the entire screen, but will write what I managed to get, with an asterisk at the end of the lines that seem to have been cut off) reads as follows: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent d(*) to your computer. Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options sych as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select safe mode. Technical information: *** Stop: 0x0000011+ (0xFFFFFA8008980010, 0xFFFFF8800442DB04, 0x0000000 (*) *** atikmpag.sys - Address FFFFF8800442DB 04 base at FFFFF88004426000 (*) 4f7d7e5c" - based on this, I gather that installing available windows updates is a logical step, and ensuring that my laptop is constantly up to speed in regards to these. Are there any other obvious solutions / answers, or things i should keep in mind? "Laptops for dummies" this, sorry about that :o Hope someone might be able to help, would be greatly appreciated
  8. Just got a blue screen as well, never experienced it on my current laptop while running any edition of FM (or anything else, for that matter). Unfortunately the restart was too quick here as well, so I couldn't read the text. In case it might be relevant: I had just finished agreeing terms with a player I was trying to buy, and I tried to end negotiations by confirming my offer - the game seemed to freeze for a couple of seconds, and then the blue screen came along. I've not tried to restart and continue playing, because this made me a tad nervous that my computer would suffer as a consequence...
  9. Hmm, seems to be a common problem then... Glad it's not only me I guess, but wish it could be fixed. Thanks for the answers to those of you who replied, maybe this will stop annoying me now:D...
  10. First of all, thank you for the reply:thup:! Currently at work, so can't check this out until later today/possibly tomorrow, but I am at least fairly certain I use a large database, and I know I have at least the top division playable, if that helps. Will check this out as soon as i have access to my laptop.
  11. Probably something I should know, but can't seem to figure this out: In my saves, INF Clairefontaine never gets "populated", never one single player in the team. Is that something that can be easily corrected? Thanks in advance:thup:
  12. Appreciate the quick reply! guess I'll just have to go with the suggested size then. And start saving for a new laptop, as it is way too low for my liking:). Thanks!
  13. First of all, not quite sure where to post this, so feel free to move the thread if another part of the forum is better suited. I've been playing on a saved game in the Premier League for four seasons, and the save is now completely useless due to Visual C+ runtime errors during almost every match. From reading on the forums I have gathered that the cause of this probably is that i have chosen to play with too many active leagues/too big a database/too many players(feel free to correct me if I am wrong and give me some clues to salvage the saved game, nothing would be more pleasing than to be able to continue my original save)... Of course I want as many players and leagues as possible, but the priority is being able to play a long term game. So, I'll have to start a new game, and was hoping that someone might be able to recommend a setup for the game in terms of number of leagues and players chosen, and database size, to ensure that I am able to have the saved game going for many seasons, 10-15 at least, and of course hopefully without having to think about the number of seasons at all (I am aware of the option to have the game recommend a setup, but not sure if the recommendation will be too restrictive/too optimistic). Would love some feedback if someone out there have the insight to answer, personally I have no idea. My laptop : Acer Aspire 5739G Intel Core duo processor T6400 (2.0 GHz, 800 MHz FSB) ATI mobility Radeon HD 4570 4 GB memory 500 GB hdd Let me know if this doesn't provide enough info on the laptop, I'm really not very competent when it comes to the technical side of things. As the post might indicate:). Hope someone is able to help.
  14. Don't know if you have already taken this into account - but the deals are usually (at least most of them) negotiated for more than one year at a time. Could be that they will rise when the time for renegotiation comes, if you have risen quickly to the PL?
  15. -MD-:...Is anyone else having this problem... I have the same problem on my game, have been beaten to the signature of many good prospects because of this:(. Have even tried going trough my entire shortlist (not an easy task on my old laptop) and making sure everyone is "subscribed", but after a couple of days the problem seems to occur again. Hope someone knows why this happens, and if it is possible to fix... (And yes, I am also playing on the newest patch)
