Think if Southgate was undecided on his future, those boos at FT will hopefully have cemented in his mind it’s time to leave this summer regardless how the tournament plays out.
Fully expect a story on his future to come out over weekend.

Ironically, lost our most threat in attack in these situations with no Maguire. One floaty corner / set piece masks all this when he gets head to it

With the attacking talent we have, how are we so blunt going forward?
When facing low blocks, it really needs good attacking coaching for patterns, players being disciplined and not stepping on each other toes. Had it far too much this game, players on top of each other, stagnated etc.
Alright when it’s an open game for individual talent to show.

Germany currently losing to Greece at full strength.

Stones is a broken footballer.

Can put it down to players not being together long, but so often we see games under Southgate where the attacking patterns are so bad for the players we have.

Finishing is still an area he can improve greatly in. Just doesn’t take the care that’s needed to move onto next level.

Palmer not a LW though.

Yeah. Saka is nailed on to start if fit. Been England's best wide player by some distance. Lets definitely drop him for Gordon. Ffs
It’s not dropping him for Gordon. Was more I can see it eventually being between him and Foden for RW as we settle into the tournament swing.
Can count on one hand amount of times Foden and Saka have started games LW and RW, despite both being clearly best players we have in attacking positions since 2020/21.

Walker, Stones, Guehi, Trippier: Rice, Bellingham, Gallagher: Foden, Kane, Gordon
First game line my prediction. Saka to rotate with Foden during group stages, most impact starts L16 and will start every game there on regardless of output. Gallagher doesn’t deliver first game, Mainoo in. Shaw gets fit for any group games, he’s in for Trippier.

Gordon will end up starting majority of games IMO. If we have to play someone like Trippier LB in the end, Gordon will have the work rate and defensive mindset to keep tracking back.

Oh no Genuinely gutted for Maguire.
Joke all you want, but the best international teams are built on defensive parnterships that have played a lot and know each other's games inside out.
Plus I was looking forward to the picture of Maguire holding the trophy so I could rub it in everyone's face.
BUT. Where there's change, there's opportunity... as my old man always said. Arise Ezri Konsa MBE.
And we all said for past 18 months that we needed to try more CB combos (at least the LCB) because of Maguire form.

Some chatter that Maguire won’t make it.

Yeah, he looked MUCH better later in the game once they’d started to switch positions around. But when we’ve got Walker, we don’t need another overlapping RB in the first eleven. We need a CM that can do the simple stuff alongside Bellingham and Rice and make sure we can keep hold of the ball against a top side.
TAA coming inside as an inverted RB, allows us to keep hold of the ball. Especially if the LB ends up being basically a CB, like a Gomez.

Big night for Trippier. Captain, home turf, walking out with his son. All feelings, but he needs to deliver a performance because it really can’t be understated how bad he’s has been defensively since like November.
Not convinced by going with Dunk as CB alongside Guehi. Dunk been woeful recently, was even bad in last England appearance too. Get someone like Quansah lacks the experience, but trying him or Brainthwaite (even Konsa at RCB) alongside Guehi feels a bit more proactive.

Looking at our defensive options going into Euros, not trying more players and combinations at CB/LB across 23/24 isn’t going to look well in a few weeks.
Maguire/Stones going to go into rusty, RB is reliant on Walker mostly who must be patched up loads considering the amount he’s played this season then LB, well less said the better.

A back injury. How worrying is that?
Pain killers will get him through the Euros.

I haven't seen enough of Guehi and Konsa to judge them, but surely Dier's great from for Bayern warrants a spot over two mid-table players?
Tomori has been really questionable this season and Southgate doesn't like him.Dier is fair, just not been in a squad for over a year, and not played minutes for England since World Cup 22. Feels like when a player drops out of the England fold under Southgate, it has to be something special to get back in.

What we thinking for England since it’s 26 man squad?
GK: Pickford, Ramsdale, Henderson
DF: Walker, TAA, Konsa, Guehi, Maguire, Stones, Shaw
MF: Henderson, Rice, Bellingham, Gallagher, Mainoo
Wingers: Saka, Palmer, Foden, Gordon, Grealish, Rashford
St: Kane, Watkins
I have that as three spaces left from this list:
Bowen, Maddison, Trippier, James, Gomez, Dunk, Lewis, Tomori, Colwill, Chilwell, Toney.
Falls down to what extra positions he wants to take. I’m assuming in defence as there’s enough question marks on fitness.
Might throw a few quid on Lewis Hall making the squad because of the LB situation

Its where Messi played most of the World Cup from
Was it? Seemed more like a 4-4-2 they played, with Messi strolling around the middle, picking the ball up where he wants, which tends to be just off right centre as he comes onto his left.

Saka was great. Not sure who else RW was better than him?

When he’s not being played balls into him like here, there’s not much he can do.
