Same Mbappe that scored 4 times against him. Clearly a very good goalkeeper but his arrogance is mindblowing at this point.

i dont think its arrogance, i think its just good old fashioned trolling

i think all the people reacting are forgetting what football culture is like in argentina, everyone loves the passion because you get the extremities of that both sides. extreme passion. extreme toxicity.

  2. messi was actually really good in 2014 too, think he was involved in 5 out of like 7 goals argentina scored :D yeah he didn't score or assist later stages but not without others letting him down

i remember him playing this unbelievable through ball volleying it from his own half to give di maria a 1on1 who pissed it away for one

but he's for sure been even better this time, but part of that is because he's had better supporting cast although let's not kid ourselves - he's still got donkeys to play with

de paul has been terrible at any part of the game where he's got to kick the ball :D lautaro has had enough chances set up by messi to make him a contender for the golden boot but hasn't scored a single one :D there have been entire segments of play where it sometimes seems like messi is the only technically good player

it's not true of course - entire defence and keeper have been good, and enzo/alvarez as others have said

maradona had a similarly good supporting too. they were tough ****s similarly and yeah valdano was really good. he was just coming off being la liga foreign player of the year 2nd top scorer in the league to hugo sanchez winning the title with real madrid. along with ruggeri and a couple of others who were at libertadores winners river plate etc.

  3. i don't think sterling is a shoo-in for 100+ caps either. you'd think he should get at least another 20 caps through to the world cup but after that, if he hits a rough patch then the competition is so tough he may get dropped. he is obviously great now but will he still be after an injury and loss to his electrifying pace/stamina? i hope of course he can be as good as he is now for years because i love him just as i love kane but they always exceed my expectations so i will expect little further than the greatness they've already provided :D

  4. yes the bench of attacking talent is better. but england have had better defenders, better midfielders during the 00s. we really underachieved massively in 2002-2010 period. i mean we had a period where we had neville, rio, terry, cole, scholes, beckham, gerrard, lamps, carrick, rooney, owen. literally all of those players were unquestionably world class. but no manager managed to use them well enough to make england a successful side at international level. fine owen dropped off half way into the decade but even still that is a great list of players. and it's not just them, we had also people like joe cole or sol campbell etc well

southgate is doing an absolutely brilliant job

Honestly can’t conceive a scenario where we lose this. I know people are tired of hearing about Euro 96 but Southgate’s story arc is just too perfect. Same stadium, same competition, same opponents, 25 years almost to the day. Masterminding our greatest victory to exorcise the penalty demons.

One day there will be films made about tonight. It’s the Busby Babes climbing out of the plane wreckage to win the European Cup at Wembley. It’s Drogba losing umpteen semi finals and then winning the Champions League with his last kick as a Chelsea player. It’s Denmark coming off the beach to win Euro 92. It’s Zambia lifting the African Nations in the same city where all their team were killed. It’s Derek Niven recovering from cancer to score Chesterfield’s last ever goal at Saltergate in stoppage time.

Sometimes football just gives you these fairytale moments. No way a third rate German side under Sniffer Loew are going to deny Gareth his destiny.

ah rob nineteen eighty one enjoy the dreaming. tomorrow may be rough but enjoy the dreaming.

I had a weirdly specific dream pre tournament where we made the final. It involved beating Germany in 2nd round and Holland in semis. I'm starting to get a little freaked out.

If next week we beat Germany on pens after a 1-1 draw Maguire goal then the dream was clearly a prophecy sent from the Football gods

    what happened in the final

He's ****ing ****, I don't know if it's England but he can't be playing like that in real football team. Spurs can keep him.

are we seriously questioning his quality in ****ing 2021 :D

Hasn't proven it at the top level yet.

yeah he's only just come off being top goalscorer and top assists in the best league in the world, has 20 in 24 in CL, won golden boot in wc but sure

of course i think he's been absolute garbage so far in these 2 games btw
