  1. Finished my first season at Sassuolo and I must say it has been very enjoyable and successful. In the Coppa Italia we reached the semi final before being defeated by Juventus but theres no shame in that. I had told the board I was aiming for a top half finish and anything more would be a bonus however we far exceeded those expectations. Absolutely delighted with the league placing and points total. On other occasions it could of been enough to win the title but Juve were too strong for everyone else. Lucas Romero was player of the season averaging just short of 8 but Simone Zaza was also incredible scoring a ridiculous 45 goals in all competitions. I was only given a budget of 11m for the 2nd season so bid all of it on Berardi's ownership decision, thankfully my bid of £10.75m was exactly the same as Juventus so he is now a full Sassuolo player. The only problem is that this left me with little funds to improve the rest of the squad so had to rely on frees and loans for most of it. That was until Vrsaljko decided he wanted to leave and could not be persuaded otherwise. I couldn't really find a good replacement for him so had to settle for Tomovic but will look for someone else next year. This year I'll be aiming to replicate last years form and with any luck close the gap on Juve a bit more. Also looking forward to a champions league adventure having being drawn with PSG, Benfica and Olympiakos.
  2. Well he is 3 star current ability and his potential has 3 yellow with an aditional black star, however his coach report says he is close to his full potential so he probably won't improve much more.
  3. I decided to purchase De Sciglio in the end so he will probably be my first choice right back for the coming season. Romanista here is the screenshot as requested. If you want any more I'm happy to oblige.
  4. I have finished my 2nd season in charge of Roma and it was another successful one as we retained the Scudetto. For long periods it didn't look likely as Juventus were top for long periods but a strong finish saw us catch up and sneak past them on the final day on goal difference which was only superior by 1 goal. It was an exciting finish to the season and resulted in another Juve manager, Unai Emery, getting the boot. The Coppa Italia campaign was less than successful, we were looking to build upon being runners up last season but somehow got knocked out in the first round on penalties by Cagliari. In the champions league we were handed a relatively easy group consisting of Benfica, Leverkusen and Trabzonspor which we sailed through with 16 points, 8 ahead of 2nd place Benfica. In the first knockout round we drew my childhood team Man Utd and unfortunately they were too strong for us winning 3-2 on aggregate. At the end of the season Totti announced he would retire in a years time when he is just short of his 41st birthday. He was very effective last season so if this campaign is similar I will consider asking him to reconsider his decision but if not I will have to start the difficult task of finding a replacement for the great man. Florenzi was once again the best performer contributing many goals and assists, finishing with an average rating of 7.66. It has been a fairly quiet summer in terms of transfers, here are the ins and outs: Sales: Dodo - Inter Milan - £6.5m - pre-agreed from the start of the game. Leandro Paredes - Cagliari - £2m - constantly complaining about not getting enough football despite being nowhere near the level of Florenzi etc. Maicon - Cesena - £250k - ageing and on a high wage, it made sense for him to leave. Davide Astori - Udinese - £9.25m - Did well in his 2 seasons but I had too many centre backs and made a decent fee for him, almost doubling what I paid. Pavel Savitskiy - Atalanta - £750k - Another player that wasn't happy about not playing so I wasn't bothered about seeing him go. Purchases: Adrian Ortola - Barcelona - free transfer - needed a backup goalkeeper after Lobont decided to hang up his boots. Marc-Oliver Kempf - Freiburg - £22m - Wanted more quality at centre back and this young German looks very talented. Isco - Real Madrid - £16.5m - Unwanted at the Bernabeu and I couldn't turn down a world class player at such a cheap price. Squad going into the 3rd season: GK: Valdes, Ortola, Zubikarai DR: Torisidis, Manea DL: Gaya, Holebas DC: Kempf, Manolas, Munoz DC: Romagnoli, Jedvaj DMC: De Rossi, Driessen (regen) MC: Florenzi, Isco MC: Strootman, Nainggolan AMR: Iturbe, Ljajic AML: Depay, Granara (regen) ST: Totti, Destro, Perillo (regen) Very happy with the squad although I have noticed that Mattio De Sciglio is available for around £15m from Milan and I still have £40+ sat in the bank so may get in and move on either Torisidis or Holebas. Target for the season is to win a 3rd straight Serie A title and improve upon last seasons efforts in both the domestic and european cups.
  5. Started a Southampton save today. Don't normally use other english teams as a Man Utd fan but quite like Southampton and feel like it could be an interesting and enjoyable save. I have just got past transfer deadline day and whilst no one was sold I did manage to bring in a few new faces after telling the board I would get a europa league finish and received a budget of £19m. The players I bought were: Gino Peruzzi - £3.6m - needed someone as backup/rotation for Clyne. Aleksandar Dragovic - £9.5m - Only Alderweireld looked good enough to start at centre back so needed to bring in a couple more. Eder Alvarez Balanta - £7m - Same as above as well as being a great talent for a relatively small fee. Patrick Roberts - £10.5m - Young English talent, going to train him to play AMR to back up Long. Had a tough start to the season drawing with Tottenham and losing to Chelsea before beating West Brom. Also beat Swindon in the Capital one cup. I shall update again when I have made more progress.
  6. Great thread Adzke. I usually only do one save per league each FM and I'm already two seasons into an enjoyable Roma adventure but this has convinced me into trying out a Sassuolo save. It looks like it could be very interesting with some quality players but plenty of room for improvement and also a good amount of transfer funds. I have actually begun and completed the first transfer window and I'm very happy with the business that has been done. The incomings have been as follows: Lucas Romero - £7m Eder Alvarez Balanta - £7m Tore Reginiussen £425k Josip Radosevic - loan Felipe Anderson - loan Outgoings: Sergio Floccari - Genoa - £210k Emannuele Terranova - Novara - loan Leonardo Pavoletti - Cagliari - £500k Francesco Magnanelli - free transfer Magnanelli was certainly not planned at the beginning however we clashed a couple of times in pre-season over sales and team talks and I didn't consider that to be the behaviour of a captain so stripped it from him and gave it to Zaza, this made him even more unhappy and he would complain at every opportunity so we agreed to mutual termination of his contract. The two big incomings were mainly over 48 months. I brought in Reginiussen after Genoa made a generous bid for our 50% stake in Acerbi but the deal fell through at the last minute so were actually quite well stacked at centre back now. Tried to sign Pione Sisto as well but he wasn't interested and couldn't be persuaded to enter talks and Joshua Kimmich moved to Dortmund despite my offer of regular first team football. Also tried to sell a few of the older, less talented players but there wasn't much interest. Team going into the first season: GK: Consigli, Pegolo, Pomini DR: Vrsaljko, Gazzola DL: Peluso, Longhi DC: Reginiussen, Cannavaro DC: Balanta, Antei, Acerbi DCM: Radosevic, Chibsah CM: Taider, Brighi CM: Romero, Biondini AMR: Berardi, Missiroli AML: Sansone, Felipe Anderson ST: Zaza, Floro Flores I shall be aiming for a mid table finish and think it is definitely achievable with this squad.
  7. He had improved to the point that they were very similarly matched (15/16 in all the right places) so I thought given Romagnoli's potential it would be better to give him as many opportunities as possible but Astori will be a big part of my plans as well.
  8. Since my previous update we have gone on to win the league with 2 games remaining ahead of Juventus which caused Allegri to lose his job. Reached the final of the Coppa Italia as well but lost 2-1 to Inter, no thanks to Holebas being sent off early on. Totti was rewarded with a new contract that will take him past his 40th birthday. Didn't do much business in the summer but after Ashley Cole decided he was homesick I needed a left back. I initially went for Alex Sandro but had competition from Juventus and he chose them so went for Jose Luis Gaya from Valencia, I was hoping to get him cheap but had to match his buyout clause of 25.5m. Palermo were relegated so I decided to take Munoz off their hands for just under £4m. Other incomings were making permanent the loan deals of Paredes, Astori and Yanga Mbiwa. In terms of outgoings I let Castan go for cheap, he was very poor all season including giving away a hattrick of penalties against Real Madrid so he wasn't worth his 75k p/w wages. I thought my business was all done until Man City came sniffing around Pjanic, I decided to see how high they would go as Florenzi was the star player last season and was keeping him out of the team. I negotiated them up to £60m thinking it would be enough to get rid of them but they offered it all up front and I couldn't turn down that sort of money. £100m all up front for Gervinho and Pjanic isn't bad at all. I invested £11m of it in a promising looking regen but still have the majority sat in the bank for when a good deal comes up. I also activated the release clause of Otamendi but he decided to sign a new contract with Valencia so will be on the look out for a new centre back at some point. Team going into season 2: GK: Valdes, Lobont DR: Maicon, Torisidis, Manea DL: Gaya, Holebas DC: Munoz, Manolas DC: Romagnoli, Astori, Yanga Mbiwa CDM: De Rossi, Nainggolan CM: Florenzi, Paredes CM: Strootman, Lulic AMR: Iturbe, Ljalic AML: Depay, Savitskiy ST: Totti, Destro, Sanabria
  9. Started a save as Roma and now halfway through the first season. Didn't do much business in the first window but Gervinho came immediately wanting to move and I managed to negotiate a deal for £40m up front from Chelsea. He was replaced by Memphis Depay for £12m and the only other player I purchased was Cristian Manea for around £1m who I am hoping will take over from Maicon within a couple of seasons if he develops well. My DoF also secured a deal for a young centre mid called Karlo Lulic who looks potential very good and has progressed nicely so far. In the league after about 6/7 games I was under pressure to get a win which is strange because it is now January and I am still unbeaten and 10 points clear of Juventus. Got a really tough draw in the champions league with Real Madrid, Dortmund and Shakhtar and unfortunately only managed to finish 3rd so will be playing in the europa league next month. In January Ashley Cole came to me with concerns about being homesick so I allowed him to leave for Everton but have been unable to secure a replacement as of yet. I identified Alex Sandro, Caner Erkin and an Argentinian whose name has escaped me as targets but all are non-eu and I have reached the limit this season. The ideal choice would be Gaya of Valencia but they were not willing to sell for any less than his release clause of £25m so just using Holebas and Emanuelson as back up for the remainder of this season. Also in January I brought in Pavel Savitskiy on a free transfer and secured a pre contract deal for Adrien Rabiot as well as making Leandro Paredes loan deal a permanent one. The standout performer so far has been Florenzi playing as a centre mid due to injuries even though I intended to use him from the wide positions. He currently has an average rating of 7.68. Iturbe has also been excellent from the right wing scoring and assisting regularly. Will update again at the end of the season, hopefully with news of winning the title and possibly a good cup run as well.
  10. I was very lucky as Southampton were relegated in the first season so I managed to pick up Luke Shaw for £3.4m and James Ward-Prowse for £2.6m.
  11. Oh you are too kind, I think its just as good though, if not better. Looking forward to my Lille save this year it should be a bit more challenging than it has been in recent years. I haven't really had a good look at possible targets but I did notice Anthony Revelliere is still a free agent, could be a decent option for a year or two if his wages are reasonable. As for wingers I think Salvio from Benfica is usually available on loan although I'm not sure if he would accept the move.
  12. Very nice thread so far, good work buddy. I'll be starting my Lille save in the next couple of weeks so will be posting here quite a lot.
  13. Balmont wouldn't of played much so it was only fair to him to allow him a move. As expected Rossi has been nowhere near prolific, he is probably better as an AMC. Also on a real life topic, I was saddened by the news of Landreau leaving the club, didn't see that one coming at all.
  14. A lot of people seem to be getting takeovers in October of the third season. Mine was a Romanian tycoon who basically gave me a blank cheque book so I bought players such as Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar and Ozil.
