I'm managing in Vanarama NL South, no key tackles recorded after 19 games. In VNL North (no human manager) key tackles are ok, leader has 19 in 19 matches

If I can help, i've uploaded my last match. Min. 46, I think there's for sure a key tackle, but it isn't registered in the stats.

As you are a promotion candidate, I imagine that most teams are happy to sit back and wait for counter, so pass into space is not an ideal instruction as there's no space to exploit. Also, an AF could struggle to find space to attack, for the same reason and because you're on positive mentality and with an high def line, so quite high on the pitch. You say that you want a possession tactic, so why higher tempo?

I'm not convinced that you need a stopper behind the CMa. On the other side, I still think that your left side could be exposed (in case, potential fix would be a carrilero instead of your BBM). The rest of roles/duties, seems balanced

Personally, on the right, it would make more sense leaving the winger on support if you want to leave the CM on attack. The fullback on support it's ok, although I'd try an IWB (defend or support). On the left, I would prefer a less aggressive role in midfield if you want an attacking fullback, like a carrilero or a DLP on support. Is there any particular reason for playing with a flat midfield? I'd prefer a player in the DM strata. Also, regarding your instructions, you're already on a positive mentality, an high LOE with more urgent pressing, seems a bit too much for a mid-table team

My 433 is quite similar to yours, in terms of roles I've better results with the combo MEZ (A) and IW(S) instead of an if(s). In midfield I had a dlp like you, but sometimes the wingback was too exposed, so I changed the dlp to a CAR. I usually start the match with less Ti, usually short pass, pod and high def line, sometimes counterpress if I'm the better team

TAMWORTH F.C. Season 2022/23
Sky Bet League One
Final Position 1st
It took me two months to finish this season, as I haven't a lot of time to play, but it was a great season again (results 1 & 2). We comfortably won the league and had a decent run in the cups, winning the Checkatrade Trophy for the second time. I did some business in the january transfer window, but I was forced to sell my star newgen Sung as I couldn't renew his contract and he had a ridiculous release clause. But I found a new promising newgen in Northern Ireland, league one topscorer Glenn Patton.

TAMWORTH F.C. Season 2021/22
Sky Bet League Two
Final Position 1st
It was un unbelievable season, we destroyed the league with an amazing point record of 119. I wanted promotion but did not expected such an easy season, we were really good from the start and by the end of february we had already won promotion (results 1 & 2).
We also had a very good run in the cups, only losing to premier league sides Wolves (in the carabao cup) and Arsenal (FA cup). The Arsenal game was heartbreaking, we were 2-0 up after 30 mins, but we ended losing 3-2 with a 93rd minute goal. We had our 93rd minute revenge in the Checkatrade Trophy semifinal when we scored the winner against Wimbledon and then went to Wembley to win the trophy!!
I finally spent some money in the transfer market as I paid the compensation for a newgen that i found at Boreham Wood (they had some sort of golden generation youth intake as there were 3 or 4 very good newgens).

TAMWORTH F.C. Season 2020/21
Vanarama National League
Final Position 1st
League We confortably won the league in style with a record of 105 points. I kept the same tactic of the first campaign and strengthened the squad during the year. Ebbsflet made a good challenge, especially as they kept to overcome my bids on free agents, but we had consistency during the whole season (results 1 & 2 )
Cups I aimed for a better result at least in the FA Trophy
Transfers 1 & 2 Again I signed too many free agents. From the squad of the first season, only Sharpe kept his place in the starting XI.

I decided to give this a go with Tamworth
TAMWORTH F.C. Season 2019/20
Vanarama National League North
The first season went very well and we comfortably won the league. It took a bit of time to find consinstency, I played all the season with a 433 (4141DM) formation but changed the roles until january.
Transfers 1 & 2
I signed too many players, but most were on non-concracts, so I released most of them when I found someone better. I kept 4 players of the original squad, Asante, Wallis, Sharpe, Verma, in my starting XI. Left back Sharpe won the player of the season award. I also won the manager of the year award.

I'm entering this, I've tried to reload several times to get AFC Rushden & Diamonds, but it seems impossible, so I'm starting with AFC Hornchurch

shoot less often does not mean never shoot

Because an ap should not shoot often? he's a playmaker, he wants the ball to make assist to his team mates. this is his main work. if you want a player who mainly try to score, then he's not a playmaker

I want to thank you for this thread as it's absolutely amazing. I'm finding it very useful and informative. It also provides a view of how far this game has gone in terms of connections with the real football.
Great work!

No specific suggestions, do you have specific problems? It's a good setup.
Thanks. I don't see specific problems, we are doing well and the football we are playing is good. I'm not completely satisfied with the left back, as I would like to
see more attacking play from him, and the rating of my CM is always low, although he's doing what he should do. Sometimes I struggle to defend well against flat 433, and in general against teams with an AM and two strikers.

hello, this is my main tactic in my current save with Vicenza (italian serie B). with a slightly different tactic i won serie B in the first season and now i'm 5th in serie A after 18 matches.
mentality: counter
team shape: fluid
----------------GK(d)
WB(s)----CD(d)----CD(d)----WB(a)
WM(a)---DLP(s)----CM(d)---WP(a)
---------------AM(a)
---------------DLF(s)
instructions:
retain possession
pass into space
work ball into box
play out of defence
be more disciplined
push higher up
stay on feet
PI: CDs shorter passing, close down less, WB(a) and CM(d) close down less, WM(a) cut inside, AM(a) move into channels
Advice/suggestions would be grateful

Strategy & Tactical Handbook by Loversleaper

This is a great thread, I really like your thoughts and this is my preferred way of playing the tactical side of the game. In my current save I've taken the job at QPR in 2026, they're down in league 1, the board want promotion, despite a poor previous season where they finished lower mid table. Using your guide, I decided to start the season playing on positive mentality at home (as I saw most opponent were expected to play on balanced or cautious) and on balanced in some tricky away games. Things are going very well, at the end of January I am 10 points clear of second place, now almost every opponent play on cautious or defensive and I start every game on attacking. Top work!
