Season 1 Basingstoke
Youth Player 1
Matthew Morton, DC (England)
Not a good player at all, mainly because I forgot to hire a HoYD until I saw the preview.

Overview
Premier League here we come! A second place finish was enough for promotion but was a bit disappointing as at one stage we had a massive lead at the top of the table. Pre-season saw us sign midfielder Brazilian Jose Antonio from Man United and Belgian defender Christian Irakoze from Arsenal to play along side his compatriot Kasongo. Beyond this, I knew I had to lift the quality to push on from last seasons near qualification for the play-offs. To do this, I relied on loan signings with Matej Bilelic coming in from Bayern and Jesus Moreira from Sevilla in attack and defender Niccolo Tempesta in defence.
This was an immediate success with a win against Southampton in our first game, although Jose Antonio sulked for the next two months after I subbed him in the second half. The remainder of August was patchy but from there form was much better and by the start of March we held a 12 point gap from 3rd place and a healthy lead over Hull in 2nd. With a small squad and big fixture list we fell apart. Players desperately needed resting but without adequate replacements this proved difficult. We won 1 game in the ten games up to the final game of the season. That lead over the play off sides evaporated and Hull surged to the title. Going into the last game at home to struggling QPR we held a lead over Cardiff in 3rd only on goal difference. This should have been a routine win but with the form we were in an with injuries biting we laboured to a 1-0 win with a 75th minute goal. Even then, QPR were always in the game and we were never comfortable. Up until the 75th minute I was watching Cardiff’s home fixture against Luton nervously. Things became very tense when Carfiff took the lead in the 82nd minute but in the end a 92nd minute equaliser for Luton meant that a point would have been enough anyway.
Key Players
David Tunde – Signed in January having been released in the summer by Arsenal. Tunde added a dynamic presence in midfield.
Jose Antonio – The Brazilian arrived from Tottenham scoring 16 goals from midfield.

John Gordon (Whitehawk):

Connor Marke (Stalybridge):
I don’t know why but he just generated. Weird considering the others generated last year and I’m pretty sure they’re born on the same year and days.

I’m going to be tracking the careers of strikers. I’m not using FM24, rather FM 2017 Touch. The goal is to see if any of these players get to 1000 goals.

Im going to be bringing this challenge back from the dead.
Introduction:
Every year, you get a new youth intake. The AssMan singles out the best of them.
My aim is to take this player, whoever they may be, and track their career.
Rules:
Dont edit your players, but other than that, have fun!
If you want to, mark a loaned out season with a "*".

Welcome to Wales, after a little adventure on FM22, I decided to return to this country, more precisely to the C.P.D. Y Rhyl 1879.
They are the phoenix club, established following Rhyl FC's formal dissolution in order to continue their history born in 1878 (according to some websites).Rhyl FC's history was grand with the following national trophies:Welsh Premier League: 2003-04, 2008-09;
Welsh Cup: 1951-52, 1952-53, 2003-04, 2005-06;
Welsh League Cup: 2002-03, 2003-04;The challenge is to at least equal this record...using the Youth
Welcome back! Wales seems pretty difficult, good luck.

Yeah that’s been happening to people… not me yet

Do these actually affect your team or are they just to be funny?

You gotta try keeping one of the GKs and get them to 100. To be fair not sure you have the guy to do it with in Welsh, but do you have any former Tullibody GKs you can sign?

This looks interesting. Will be following when I can.

Yes, but no, sort of. Players can't play until they are registered (and it's locked when the intake comes along), and they can only be registered after they are 16. So players not 16 when the summer window closes (~Sept 1st) will have to wait until the winter break. But they can be registered then, so it's not really bad. I think the old rule was 17, and that was a pain, but it's better now. I don't really have an issue with it.
Ok that's fine enough

Keep at it! And remember to enjoy the journey itself too!
This is unrelated, but should I do Germany next? I remember seeing that you couldn't promote youth players in the first season there. Is this still the case?

Tough one, but all part and parcel of this challenge. Expect many more of those if you keep playing here!
That's exactly what im expecting and also why im not stopping! At some point I'll not get relegated... hopefully

This is a good strategy considering the English nationality rules in the lower leagues.
