  1. I understand the above as occasionally I set it as to how you say to aid the development. There was a post in the training forum which said that if you trained position it trains more attributes for the position but at a lesser intensity so that the younger players benefit more to start off with. The issue is when the player can play in multiple positions ie DC and DL and the U18 manager plays him as a DC but under position training it says DL - does the game actually train him as a DC for that week he was played as a DC rather than the DL which the tab defaults to
  2. When adjusting your staff responsibilities for transfers you can allow yourself, your DOF, a club director or chairman to negotiate and finalise the transfers. There are no attributes shown for the club director or chairman on any screen so how would you know there negotiating skills for setting these people up. Therefore you would only be able to use the DOF who has negotiating skills shown. Is there a default value for them? A lot of clubs use the Director of Football to find players and then the club director or chairman would negotiate and finalise the deals once done, but without knowing the negotiating skills of these people in the game it is actually difficult to set this up as it would be in real life. even though the game allows you to use the chairman or club director. I wondered if there was a way of finding out there attributes in the game

For my U18 team I have decided to train the individual training myself and have told the players to train in there playing position - based on the above this will be a lighter session for them and will train more attributes so that they will become a more rounded player as more attributes will be trained which I believe is correct to start with for young players - currently I am in the Championship and my UI8 squad have attributes between 3 - 10 on all categories. My intention is once these eventually start to rise I may then look at putting them on more specific role duty focus to suit the players. I have also used my coach reports to determine the best Additional focus attributes I should look at for each player as when the attributes are all low it can be difficult to determine which is best to pick. Most of them needed strength training. One question when using the playing position for training - I have an appointed U18 manager for the team who runs the general training and also picks the team. What I noticed is that when I selected the playing position the manager has played a player as a DC but the playing position focus came up as DL on some of the players or DR or some DMCRS playing position focus comes as MC. Im not sure why this is the case - it could be because its the more natural position for the player when he can play in 2 positions or it could be that its the U18 Assistant managers best position for him. Does this matter and will the player actually train in the position selected by the U18 manager (DC) or will he train in the default playing focus (DL) as shown on the training screen or do I need to change the defaults to suit. I assume if you are training by playing position for that week the player will be trained in the position that he played for the previous match - despite what it shows on the playing position tab as this can be adjusted by the U18 manager For my First Team I have the individual focus to be more specific in that I will train the Position Role and Duty to suit the role and duty of the tactic. Some players though can play AML AMC and AMR, for those I have them set to just train in the playing position - from my understanding this will train them in the last position played ie 1 week maybe AML if played there and another AMR if played there - even though the focus says different on the page when set up as it defaults Thanks
  4. Some of my recruitment focuses have come back competed and the scouting knowledge on the player reads as extensive knowledge - is this the equivalent to the old full scouting knowledge. The reason I ask I have seen a dropdown panel on the skin I downloaded somewhere and it said full scouting knowledge - so wanted to check that extensive is the maximum scouting like I think it is Thanks

Ive looked at some other posts on this and have set the recruitment focuses to suit, I have waited length of time for the focuses to be completed which it says they have in my inbox and only get 1 or 2 recommendations. This changes if I change the CA to 3* where I start getting more players recommended. I am scouting England and surely the English Premier League would have 4 - 5* players as CA. Unless the reason is that they won't sign for me due to my reputation or don't want to step down into the Championship and thats why they are not recommended. Even if this is the case I believe with the wide recruitment focus I have I still should be getting more than 2 recommendations per focus on 3.5 *. On the previous FM's before the revamp you could see these players in a list but then if you clicked transfer not interested they would be filtered out. Any other people had issues with the recruitment focus and what where the conclusions
  7. In my inbox I generally get the below message saying players are unhappy with training and have never found a way to resolve it. I always set my players to have additional focus on there weakest attributes to improve them, however the players sometimes come back and say that the training is not beneficial. Take Christie he is a right full back on additional focus of defensive positioning as his marking and positioning attributes are 10 and his decisions is 11. This needs improving for a Championship player playing as a right full back. However he feels the individual training is not beneficial and is unhappy with training. The report for the coach also reports that the individual training focus has benefited the player. So what do I change to keep him happy while also hitting the attributes to that they improve. I have had this problem throughout fm and have generally ignored it by swapping training schedules to ones even though the attributes in the swapped schedule are better. What is the correct thing to do to keep the player happy while also hitting the bad attributes if he is unhappy even though coach says made improvements

I have scouts looking for 3.5 * Current ability and 3.5* Potential ability for Goalkeepers, Defender Left, Defenders Right and Defenders Central in England as my current GK.DL, DR and DC are only 3 * and there contracts are coming up for re-newal next season so I want to improve them. I first had the focuses looking to suit the tactic and role with an age range from 18-35 to widen the search and hardly any recommendations came through. Only 1 or 2 on each focus and on some none at all. I then used the same search to look for the same CA and PA rated GK and same Defender type focuses but set the tactics and roles to any with the same age range and again hardly any 3.5 * CA and PA recomendations are coming through. I changed the CA and PA down to 3* and now some more have started to come through I am playing in the English Championship and I would have thought there would be more defenders who are above 3.5*'s in the CA and PA range in the English league and cannot understand why my focuses are not picking them up. I have 2 scouts looking for them on each focus GK, DL DR and DC and some of the focuses are set to top. Any advice what I am doing wrong as I do not believe that there are only a few 3.5* CA and PA rated players in the England.
  9. For selling players using a DOF you add them to the unwanted list and for younger players who are to be loaned out you can add them to the Development list. However is there a way of loaning out 1st team players using the DOF or loan manager. I have a number of players whose contracts are coming up for renewal who I have set the DOF to sell for anyprice, even though there are clubs interested there has been no firm offers. So to get them off the wage bill without mutually terminating contracts I have decided to add to loan list, but there is no option to add them to the development list and the unwanted list is only for selling. Any ideas how you can get DOF or loan manger to look for loans for these players or is it somehthing you have to do yourself
  10. The Club Club Background and History The club has had relative success in the last ten to fifteen years, hopefully with the new owners backing I can get the club back into the Premier League. Once back the top league the first aim would be to sustain the club there by having the correct foundations in place. My Contract I have signed a 1.5 year deal at the club. To have any chance of getting my contract extended I am going to have to hit the ground running and achieve the boards aims. Club Facilities Club Finances Club Squad and Dynamics The first team squad is extremely large and will require trimming down in the transfer window as there is alot of deadwood. In the previous transfer window alot of new players where signed and they will need time to gell. This is why they possibly have not been doing well. The squad looks strongest in midfield as there are a few 3.5 - 4 star players. In defence it looks weakest and as there are 3 star players overall, this is an area I may have to look to improve once I fully assess the team. Due to my lack of experience of this league it will take a long time to get these players to believe in me. I am a motivator and strong communicator with the players and this may help get them onside in the beginning by constantly talking to them. Another big thing will be to get them to believe in the way that I will want them to play and for also results to go our way and quickly. Club Staff As can be seen from the above staff the club operates with a Director of Football model, there is no Technical Director. The Director of Football is Lee Darnbrough who has very poor negotiating skills in his attributes, this may mean I have to step in on occassions and re-negotiate his offers to get the players I want. Under 21's Under 18's Club Vision This season I must arrest the slide in the current teams form if I am to make the clubs goal of a top half finish. at least the board does not want instant promotion and have set a timetable of when this can be achieved. Looking at the squad I believe that they have enough in them to make a top half finish on paper. For some reason or another it has not been working on the pitch, which will need to change. Supporters Vision One of my first aims must be to get the fans on board with what I am about, they have a very high influence on the board and not keeping them happy could cost me my job. The fans would have expected a more experienced manager than myself following Shota's sacking, especially with the club aiming for a return to the Premier League. The only way I can see to keep them happy is to win games and create entertaining football. Media Prediction Current League Table on Appointment as Manager As can be seen the team has not been doing very well and the squad looks alot better on paper. The team on current form could be heading for a relegation battle rather than a top half finish that the board wants or the 8th place predicted by the media. I will have some serious work to do. One of the reasons for this poor start to the season could be due to the amount of key players who have major injuries and are out for some time, which may not have helped the team to settle under the previous regime. I am going to have to work with these constraints and try to arrest the fall. Contracts The club won promotion back to the Championship 2 seasons ago and there are a few players who are up for contract renewal who are only League One standard. I will have to assess these players to determine if I think they can make the step up to the Championship and gain promotion to the Premier League eventually. 16 player contracts are up for renewal or loan signings can be returned to there parent clubs at the end of the season, this will help reduce the squad size and hopefully free up some wages so that I can fetch in any players that I may want to attempt to sign if I think these players need moving on. If I believe I need to make signings in the January transfer window to help the team along from its current form a decision will need to be made on these players quickly. Aims and Plans The club does not have an assistant manager so I will look at fetching somebody in to help me, while I will also assess the team and decide what I think is the best starting 11 and tactics for them. I will look at bringing in some new coaches and scouts and may mutually terminate a couple of existing staff contracts. I do not want to make wholesale changes everywhere to start with and will bring in staff when the contracts have expired so not to cost the club money in alot of termination fees. I need to be strong with the players and motivate them to get them out of the current slump. I will start to formulate plans and tactics for the team to fetch the best out of the players and look at key statistics in the Data Hub to help me formulate these
  11. The Rules 1. The clubs board of directors are in charge of signing the Director of Football and Technical Director and I have no input into who they decide to sign. 2. The clubs board of directors are in charge of re-newing the contract of the Director of Football and Techincal Director. 3. I will approach the Director of Football with a list of my transfer targets, who I hope he will sign. I will be allowed to go an attempt to sign these players myself, if he is unsucessful or if the bid I believe he puts in will damage the clubs finances / transfer / wage budget and amend as necessary by using add ons and incentitives in an attempt to lure the player to the club. I believe this is realistic as the signing of players is a team effort by a club. 4. The Director of Football will be in charge of finding new clubs for players that are transfer listed / added to the development list. If I believe the bid for the player is too low, I will be able to intervene and attempt to sell / loan out the player myself. I will also be allowed to offer the player out to genearate any interest if necessary and the Director of Football is being unsuccesful at this. 5. I will be in charge of all contract negotiaitons with all the players. 6. If a Technical Director is appointed by the board, I will have an input and be able to tell him what staff I want him to bring in and which staff members contract he is in charge of re-newing. 7. If a club does not have a Director of Football or Technical Director model I have to obide by that and manage all transfers myself without there assistance. The Set Up I have loaded 123 leagues from 53 Nations some of which are playable and some which are view only. The Game Start I have normally started the game unemployed with no coaching badges and a Sunday League reputation, however for FM23 I have decided to start with my hometown club as I have not done this for a long time on FM, plus the club that I am going to start with has recently been taken over in the last year, which makes it more exciting for the save. In real life the existing manager was also sacked around October and the club has alot of first team injuries. To make my save as realistic as possible I have set the start date of the save to around October to replicate this while also using the editor to add in the injured players with the injuries and the estimated time out. I have also made sure that the position of the club in the league is close to where it is in real life terms on my appointment as manager. This will add to the realism of my save on commencement. The Manager I have Sunday League experience but have managed to gain qualifications so far up to the Continental A licence in my spare time. In the league that I intend to start with the coaching badges should help, however I may find due to my lack of experience that the board and fans are quick to jump on my back if things start to go wrong, which may lead to me been sacked sooner than if I started at a lower league club. The First Job It is October and Shota Arveladze is sacked as Hull Manager by new owner Ajun Ilicali Speculation mounts over his successor until a shock announcement is made

Thanks, what do you do for your player sales to make it realistic I was thinking I would initiate the sales with the DOF negotiating and finalising and for the U21s I would initiate, signings, DOF negotiates and finalises but for the U18's the HOYD finds outgoing loans for young players and also initiates signings for U18's squad with the DOF negotiating and finalising. My only input with the U18's would be to initiate any player sales. Wjhat do you do for the contract discussions I was thinking of having myself to negotiate these for the First team, UI21 and U18's - not sure if that is realistic though, my though was I don't want to lose the players that has been signed where the DOF may do, and by that time comes round to re-negotiating I would have built up a good relationship with the player to convince him to stay more so than the DOF as Id be working with him every day I also kept the original DOF at the club and set it for the board to negotiate his contract or find someone else as irl it would be upto them and not the manager, same for the technical director. If you set the negotiating sales at the club to the DOF, if you are set to initiate the sales for the club, I assume it means that if an offer comes in YOU will tell your DOF that its ok for the player to be sold and he wont automatically sell the player that the offer has been made for Thoughts?
  13. Thinking trying to make my save more realistic by using a DOF for transfers. On doing this you have 3 settings in the staff responsibilities that you can assign the DOF or board member to- 1 for initiating the transfer, another for negotiating the transfer and a third for finalising the transfer. What I want to do in the game is go to him or the board with a list of targets for them to sign under the transfer targets tab under DOF on the transfers page , WITHOUT the DOF signing other players who I may not want. Would I be right in thinking that to achieve this I would have to set him to initiate the transfer and negotiate it and for myself to finalise the transfer as manager so that he does not fetch in any other players or am I ok for him to do all 3 in the settings. Not really used this feature before, but I noticed on another blog post that the DOF will fetch other players in, which is not good for squad building and also players who you may not want, so want to make sure the settings are correct before I start. Also has the DOF improved on his negotiaition skills as I also read in previous versions of the game sometimes he negotiates bad deals and wondered if this had been fixed
  14. Played 5 games on my overall board vision for Play attacking football, the board have marked it as disapointing. When looking at the matches of the 5 games played the board on 3 times mentions that they are pleased with chances created especially with expectation of attacking football. So why is it at disapointing on the board vision when they appear to be happy.

  16. I have my scout to do the scouting, but the analyst reports do not show the oppositions last match momentum. nor the opposition formation data on the right hand side column of image 3, not does it show the images of the location of the goals, assists or where they were scored or conceded.

I have just started the game and have decided that I will commence mid October with my inherited team and have been in charge for 1 week, The scouting reports appeared to appear and show everything for my first 2 fixtures as I have a scout assigned in the scouting centre to scout the next opposition as shown below. However when the scout reports come through there are thinsg missing from them such as formation info, goals, assists etc as shown in post below Birmingham s last game was only 3 days ago, so the report should have come through, Is this a bug or have I not set something up wrong.
  19. Is there a way in the free editor you can force the AI to pick certain players in the 25 man squad registration. I basically am starting my save around October 22 to make it realistic as possible and also included the teams current injury list of players on the editor as this was the date the clubs manager left in real life. The issue is that the clubs squad is quite large and when I start the game in October the AI has not picked one of the players who is actually in the squad in real life. Is there a way in the editor that I can add him in so that the AI will force pick him when the 25man squad is done during the set up of the game by the AI and so that he is available for selection when I start the game in October. On the editor that you can pay for and modify in game there is a section which says 'allow squad registration' which I could use, but I don't want this to happen all the time and am concerned that if I use this it will take away the squad registration deadlines in the game which I don't want. I just want to change it at the start of the game to add him. Anyone had any experience with the editor and if this is possible.
  20. I am setting up a new save by trying to make it as realistic as possible to my current team irl that I want to manage who have just sacked the manger and also have a few injuries. To do this I have used the free editor by removing the newly appointed manager and adding in the injuries that the team currently has stating the date that the injury occured and expected time out. I am able to set the date of the commencement of my save to beginning of October by using the start dates of another country in the database when it is loaded to make this as close as possible to real life situation, My issue is that the squad I inherit is large and the free editor does not appear to let you state which players are registered in the team and once the game is set up it is opting for players who are not in the squad, which is making it unrealstic to how I want to play it in this area Is there a way that I can edit this data to say which players I want registering with the team so that the squad will look like in real life by the time the game has met the start date. I have seen the other in game editor which says on it 'allow squad registration anytime' but I am concerned that this will remove the dates for squad registration in my game altogether which I dont want to happen as Im just trying to make my start database as accurate as I can from the 1st October so my game represents the club I am taking over as close as possible in real life. I have also noticed that a couple of the players who have been marked down as injured have not played a single game from the start of the season to when I take over the club in October even though they are the best players in the team. I suspect this is down to me setting the injury date but they could have played and realistically did play before the injury as if the editor has ignored the date that they will be injured when setting up the game and not showed some stats for them to be played before they were injured Any help would be appreciated.

When customising or creating views sometimes you cannot click on the title area and move it in so that the full page can be fitted onto 1 screen without having to scroll the bar at the bottom. on occassions as well the Auto sizing of the columns leaves massive gaps between each column so that the last column does not fit on a page and has to be scrolled. The last attribute column sometimes appears on the page then disapears off it when there is enough room for it to be there but then forces you to scroll to see it
