Two separate things. I'd like to know why scouting was working when I had the CPU doing it automatically, but as soon as I took control (and didn't change anything with the focuses), the reports stopped coming in as often as they had prior. I'd love to know what I am doing wrong when I send a scout with extensive knowledge of Brazil to look for minimum 1-star ability, 2-star potential, and no other restrictions and get maybe three recommendations. I guess there just isn't much talent in Brazil these days! Can't really make my focus much more broader here, can I? I legitimately think no one knows what the damn issue is at this point, let alone how to fix it. As others have said, this worked as expected on release.

I think I am going to try and manage Koln soon because of their transfer ban. Want to get real results as well to get them in a relegation fight. There are downloads for real results right? Preliminary googling has given me real fixtures (not an issue in Germany) but would that give me real results too? And how would I go about making it work in game? Custom start date?

Typically the only patch once things get to the new year is the winter update, which comes in late Feb/early March.

The thing is that it worked as expected when the game initially came out. From a certain point, it's sometimes worked (albeit not like it did in FM 23 as per one poster's reply above) and then sometimes I get nothing. I was managing a smaller team in The Netherlands and had my scouting package as The Netherlands only and my genius scouts couldn't find anyone. Truly flabbergasting. I was totally dumbstruck.

This is pretty unacceptable tbh. Scouting is a big part of the game. I am giving up on the game until there is a fix at this point.

I find it unbelievable that there won't be another patch until late February at the earliest when scouting hasn't been working for months. I cannot deal with it anymore. What has it been, one "major" patch since the game came out? I find that really unacceptable for a game of this stature on a yearly release cycle. I am taking a break from this game until the winter update.

I sincerely hope that OP was typing up the first post, thinking it would be groundbreaking and lead to big change only for it to have been mocked and panned.

If they are on your shortlist, they get scouted automatically, unless you tick off that option.

I sometimes use a photo of people in bands I like from the country as well and create 3D versions of them using that feature. For example, when I was managing in France once, I had my avatar as Joe Duplantier from Gojira, just with a different name.

Thanks, I edited them when I played last night and I think it might be helping, but I may need to lower them even more. I too don't like the new scouting system. I didn't play 23 so coming from 22 to 24 was a suprise. I'm not sure what was wrong with the old way.

Is it normal for scouts to not come back with recommendations when playing as Athletic? I am unsure if this is an error in the way I have things set up or an issue with the game (there is a thread on the main forum about this). I don't have it committed to memory, but I believe I have my scouts set up for all of La Liga, the Segunda Division, the third tiers, and then young Spanish players (<= 21 years old), but they haven't come back with much. They should only be recommending Basque players, right? After a few months into the season though, the only recommendations greater than a rating of B- I have are the initial ones that my scout had before I created the focus. The recruitment focus update emails also continue to say "we are consulting our own internal staff for recommendations" or whatever the text is, but it is along those lines. I noticed that the default staff for Athletic have a few that are doubling up as a scout and an analyst, so I am also wondering if this is impacting the lack of recommendations thus far. Any suggestions?

What tactic do you use as a weaker side? I've been looking for something more "realistic" for the first few seasons when I use a weak squad.

You can probably create a new manager in-game and go back to managing Sochaux, right? I was planning on doing this to replicate Ajax's poor start to the season and was told it would work. I didn't actually end up testing it out though.

So glad to see that you're starting where the team currently is (or where they were when you wrote it) as opposed to the beginning of the season. They are too well-rated in-game, and you would probably win the league in the first season otherwise. Should make the first season/window a bit more interesting in this scenario.

I signed Alex Král for free at Southampton after the first season. Newcastle's Sean Longstaff was listed for about $15m after the first season as well, and he ended up being one of my best players in the second season. Pedro Malheirofrom Boavista is also a good cheap FB/WB, and can play both sides.
