I'm glad you liked the tactics.

    Any changes on player roles?

Kept majority of roles the same. Instead of 2 CWB or 2 WB's I used 1 each due to the profile of my players and that seemed to work better for those specific players. I keep tinkering with the Liberos on defend duty for that extra defensive capability and for them to be ready if they need to. So far so good!

Results on the save I use for trying new tactics:

It's attached to the post that you've quoted ;)

But attached to this post you can find the updated version.

I changed the Anchor Man to DM-D and the CWB-S to WB-S.

I think that i will stick with the DM-D but i'm still testing which wingback roles is better. The WB hits more and earlier crosses while the CWBs positioning is a bit more offensive.

This tactic has been refreshingly fun and unbelievably solid for me. Certain player traits can obviously help certain positions but appreciate the attempt to make an attacking tactic with 1 CB positioned back actually be incredible :hammer: @Maddux

@DarJ IF role does cut inside in general or not?

I think what @DarJ means is that from what he's seen, the movement of the Winger on Support seems to be better with the cut inside PI or atleast what he prefers compared to the IF with or without instructions.

Personally I agree with him that it's superior if you are looking for the Wingers/ Wide players to constantly be wider but then make that realistic cut in that happens in real life with a lot of players. IMHO- IF's with the PI's of Stay wider typically don't end up doing what a lot of people are actually intending or trying to get them to do.

All personal preference at the end of the day!

I don't recall exactly, I'll have to find it. This was back in the Sassuolo era. I set up a conservative build from the back, with the 4231 shape. Back for played always back, as ball recyclers, then the front 6 were very fluid with positional rotation/flexibility. I did use Cautious mentality, and the fb-AU role, as you can tell that specific combo to hold position and do very customized setups. It worked a treat.

Okay mate. If you do happen to come across it then I'd love to give yours a go as I came across your jdp a while ago and I loved the write up! Dont go out of your way for the De Zerbi one but would very much appreciate it mate

I'm sorry for the long wait

I was busy for a while but I'm free now

Moving on to my TACTICAL RECREATION

This is in no ways a plug and play tactics and might require a bit of Man Management

    Let's get right in

    TACTICAL SYSTEM

Starting from the back, arguably the most important role we have a sweeper keeper who mops up through passes from the opposition and is comfortable with the ball at his feet.He must be decent with his distribution and have good composure.A sweeper keeper on defence will do the job fine (but I use a sweeper keeper on attack because I have Onana one of the best sweeper keepers)

My Left back is more attacking and will provide that nice linkup and would get in with goals too be underlaping and overlapping the inverted winger. He has the PIs of "cross from the byline" and "sit narrower".The role of my rightback (Groß) the inverted wingback is to provide that link up anywhere in the pitch also be that wide option if space appears out wide.He must be right footed to limit his tendency to invert a little. He is told to get "further forward"

My two CBs are told to stay wide with the one with lesser passing ability told to take fewer risk to encourage that build up play (it is imperative that both centerbacks have the "tries to play way out of trouble trait learnt to prevent unnecessary hoofing of the ballScreenshot_2023-06-25-16-52-49-577_com_sega.score.touch.thumb.jpg.635824d9dc137636dde49daee878894f.jpg

Here I am patiently waiting for the rest

Love the idea behind PPMs etc but do you have a De Zerbi tactic that’s working to show on here (the whole tactic too)? Trying to give it a go with your advice as it’s intrigued me!

Currently trying to implement a de Zerbi approach to my Rennes team but it's proving to be pretty challenging. If it goes well I'll post the process on here. Key points to me seem to be:

    • Possession derived from playing out from the back in numbers - Play out of Defence/Short passing mandatory, distributing to CBs and FBs as well
    • Wide players holding width and attacking space aggressively - IW/W on A with 'stay wider'
    • Double pivot to drop deep in build up but also engage in attacks - two in DM strata on a support role
    • Wing-backs versatile in staying inside in build up, and sometimes going on overlap but occasionally under-lapping.
    • Offsetting the AM/ST? Watching Brighton play I'd consider them to be both on support roles, but worried that would lead to a lack of penetration up top

IMHO you’re spot on with your take on his tactic.
Any luck creating it or did you hit a dead end?
