Hello, I am trying to create a custom league format in Advanced Rules but I am running into some headaches.
Essentially, the league has 2 phases: the opening and closing stage. The top team of both stages qualify for the grand final that decides the champions. However, if the same team tops both stages, they are automatically chosen as champions. I got this working and wanted to mirror it with relegation as well. What I would like is that the bottom teams of both stages do a playoff that determines who goes down, but if the same team is bottom of the table twice, they get relegated with no playoff.
I can't seem to get this to work however, I thought that setting "do not add stage if not enough teams" would be enough to set them as the automatic loser, but that was not the case. Even after fiddling round with it, I can't seem to find any other settings that may work.
Is this possible at all in the editor? Do I have to do extra hidden stages or something of that sort?
