  1. I've tried a variety of formations and players of the five seasons I've been running the latest game, but whilst my central defender usually slot in fine, it's the full backs who can't do it. I play an attacking formation. Perhaps I need to look for out and out full bakcs?
  2. I've gone off what their strongest role is in that position and avoided signing wing backs, opting for out and out full backs.
  3. No matter who I sign to play at full back, they are always awful. 5.8 average rating stuff. Doesn't matter if I go for a kid, or make the two of them my best paid players by taking them from last season's champions or something, they never, ever perform. I tend to play a back four with the offside trap, and scout players to sign the ones best at being a 'full back' rather than a wing back'. Anyone got any tips? Is it just a difficult position to get right?
  4. How do I stop them standing still! About half the goals I concede are from my players standing and waiting until they have the ball taken from them. They usually ignore easy passes first, and the few seconds they hold on to it allows the other players to get forward, which leaves us open!
  5. I'd like to search for players with a release fee. And in the media, I'd love to be able to suggest my own players to the media for international call-ups. "XXXXXXX manager YYYYYYYY has said that England Manager Fabio Capello should look no further than his striker ZZZZZZZ to complete England's front line. ZZZZZZ has been in excellent form this seaosn" And also I'd like to be able to have a go at opposing managers for being too physical. Say if you get a lot of injuries in one game, you can accuse the other manager of sending his team out to hurt your players.

I was sort of experimenting, I went from 4231 to 442 Diamond. First I starting scoring lots but also letting in goals so I tweaked and tweaked until I am having (on average) reasonable games. I still get the odd 20+ shots to score 1 goal game but mostly the games are like my screen shot. <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by Cameron1911: You say that you changed your tactics and 'hey presto', but what exactly did you change? The way you team played, the formation... what? I find that the shot v goal thing exceedingly annoying and would like to be able to get back to enjoying the game like i could on 07. I dont want specifics, just what you changed. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> </div></BLOCKQUOTE> distinctly remember the arsenal-WHU game last season, arsenal had about 25 attempts on goal and never scored, we had one single effort just before half time and bobby zamora chipped lehmann to make it 1-0. Our goalie had the game of his life that day much as i suspect the one on yours got the MOTM! Strange yes, but certainly not beyond the realms of belief </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Yeah, it happens occasionally in real life. But in the game FAR more. I've seen a real life team take a direct free kick on the edge of the opposition area by passing it backwards, and back again, and back again to the 'keeper which was nicked by an opposition player who scored.. If that happened every other match in the game, you'd be peed off.
  7. I've seen many a centre back thrown up front, and sometimes It's worked. but my issue with 4-2-4 is that it's a standard 'go to' tactic for the opposition which always demands you need to change. I've tried all the counter-atacking options, but for some reason my players also stop being able to play at the same time. When I'm outnumbering them in midfield I should get more posession, but my defenders can't pick out a man anymore and suddenly refuse to tackle! What is most irritating with 4-2-4 though is that when the AI does it, they get chance after chance, when I do it, the game whizzes through with nothing happening.
  8. I have good runs and bad runs and thise makes the game very annoying. I rarely have a season where I don't blast into the top two then collapse in November. And the 4-2-4 issue is insane. No matter who you are and who you are playing, as soon as they go to 4-2-4, you have to desperately change your own formation and cross your fingers and hope for the best. And opposition managers always, without fail, go to 4-2-4 if they are losing.
  9. I like the 'fitness test' idea. I'd like to see some simple instructions. Take Ball Into Corner: As well as the timewasting slider (delaying taking goal kicks etc) you should be able to just tick a box or make a selection that says 'take the ball into the corner' so you can kill time like that rather than risking a booking. You could have others like getting players to feign injury to break up play etc. Not ethical, but certainly happens in real life. Get Yourself Booked: And how about an option to tell a player to get himself booked? If you have a big game coming up and a player on four yellows, he can get himself booked to serve his ban in a less important match. This definatley happens in real life! Ballboy options? Managers often decide on how the ballboys will work. they decide if they want multiball and even get them to call the ballboys in if they are defending a one goal lead.
