    A Bielsa approach?

You can try, but it will pull your tactical formation all out of shape. The marking OI is the most disruptive, more so than press more often, of OI's. You will need a very specific kind of player on the opposition players. I usually try not to use more than just a couple of the press more often and tight mark OI instructions to not overly disrupt my shape.

Opposition OIs on their front players can be especially punishing for you. I would recommend a high line approach and leaving the OI instructions off their front players for the most part.

Inspired by Gasperini. Agree, the downside is you lose your OOP shape. Thanks!

I don't think this is accurate. You could say its a 4-4-2 diamond w/Bellingham (which certainly it was at the start of the season), but recently it's looked like more of a 4-3-3 again to me (which Madrid deployed in 52 of their 58 games the season before) with Jude as a F9 type role.  Tchouameni has always been the solo 6 holding pivot in either formation.

Rodrygo's touch map vs Man City is that of a wide player, not a central striker in a pairing I think.

Based on the Real Madrid pass map vs City and vs Bayern:

What I've been doing is looking pretty wild on the tactic screen, trying to create the Rodrygo and Vini overload on the left side.

    Spoiler

I play Rodrygo as AML, Vini as lone striker. Bellingham AM, Tchouameni CM(de) in the middle, Valverde BWM(su), and Kroos as DLP(su) on the DMCL spot. The good thing is: Tchouameni is still acting as a lone 6 when we're in possession, with Kroos more advanced than him. But man it's hard to create what Real Madrid is doing irl due to their approach on realitionism.

I think it's better for me to create a separate thread about it soon! It needs more than a quickfire answer. Thanks for the help. :) @Cloud9 @Poison

Yes it’s like @crusadertsar explained. It’s really fun especially if your opponent has former youth players from the own academy and you can recognise them immediately because of the numbers. I played Oxford recently and they had two strikers, both were long time servants and fan favourites of Billericay. One of them even leads the goalscorer list. Amazing.
yes and it’s Billericay or nothing.

What are the letters behind the year though? For example 63 - YA1.

  4. Hey dude, looks like a nice save. Been thinking about making a new semi-attributeless(?) save like what you are doing rn. Is the skin available for downloads? Thanks ahead!

The only thing I can say, is it just looks nicer in possession. But I feel it does sacrifice the defensive positioning. Only using 2-3 players with a defensive duty leaves us rather vulnerable on the counter. I would normally have 1 more player on attack and 1 more player on defend if I were trying to win at all costs as I feel that gets better results, but that's no fun . When looking at the current most "Meta" tactics they all have 4 players on support, 4 players on attack and 2 players on defend with a balanced mentality, resulting in a "Flexible" team fluidity.

BTW: It seems like my luck at Bologna has run out! So don't take my word as gospel

I am currently hovering above relegation zone in my second season after about 10 league games :( In my defense I had to sell Zirkzee for €56M (who had a 50% sell percentage clause with Bayern) and Orsolini for €42M to Saudi and only got 60% of the transfer revenue for my budget. I also got a really tough beginning schedule playing against Napoli, Roma, Juventus, Inter, Milan, Fiorentina and PSG by October.

Who's the replacement for Zirkzee? Can already imagine the headache. :(

Your tactic looks great for an underdog, just plain and clear. Would you also play the wide men in AML/AMR?
would you explain some of your thoughts when creating this tactic?
    It’s for the learning lesions.

    Thank you

I created this tactic using 4-4-1-1 (or 4-4-2 at times) because of Sean Dyche's Everton (not a tactical recreation though, just inspired). The reason why I don't play my wide men in AM strata is because there aren't roles that I am looking for. And besides that, placing my wide men in AM strata will push them up more out of possession. I feel like WM(su) or DW(su) is important in my Everton side as I require the defensive work the roles provide and I have the players for it. Renato Veiga and Dwight McNeil as WM(su), and Dan James (yep, Dan James) as my DW(su). And from what I see in recent times, many football teams (for example: Sean Dyche's Everton) are not afraid to challenge their opponents when they try to build up from the back, hence the use of 'Prevent Short GK Distribution'. The risk is that my 'high press' at that moment gets bypassed and I have less men behind the ball. But, when the press is successful, a dangerous turnover and things like this can happen.

    Spoiler

Picture 1. Man City were trying to play out from the back, my players were ready to disrupt their attempt.

Picture 2. Danjuma quickly shadow marked their RB (Kyle Walker), forcing Stones to play a risky ball to their RCM (Matheus Nunes, marked by my LCM (Doucoure).

Picture 3. Danjuma tackled Nunes, Doucoure got the ball and struck it from +- 30 m. Beautiful goal!

Man City were using Foden as F9 instead of Haaland. My OI for him was to never tight mark him, since I didn't want my line of back 4 to get dragged by Foden.

Here is another defense first approach which is strongly influenced by @OYTNANAK. In fact I just pushed the wingmen up and switch the TF with an AF sometimes, also some PI's slightly different. It works like a charm, thanks @OYTNANAK :applause:

shot! I forget, the defenceline looks different, too

Hey, I'm glad if it works for you! :D

  7. Hey everyone, it's 22nd of January 2025 in my save and I just got a job at Iceland National Team. The upcoming competition is FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualification. The first match is going to be in 22nd of March 2025 against San Marino, closely followed by a match against Netherlands in 25th of March. Since this is my first time ever managing a NT, can you guys give me tips or tell me what to set up? I just looked at my calendar and seems that there's not going to be an international break to set up a friendly match. Thanks ahead! :D

Can you post a screenshot of the current tactic and add the team instructions/player instructions?

Here you go mate. The PIs are:
    - Moves into channels for the TF
    - Tackle harder for the SS (McTominay used for big match). Regularly, I use AP(at) with Miranchuk with roam from position.
    - Close down less and ease off tackle for both FBs
    - Take more risks for Onana
    - Dribble more for Doucoure

    image.png.4ae8d5fdf9c4a7306a7446922071fbf1.png

For the match against Liverpool, Danjuma is playing on the left to have a field day against Trent. In the game, he created a very beautiful cross after going past Trent. Unfortunately, Scott McTominay's header was saved by Allison, hence the 0.4xG on McTominay. Here's an example of OIs that I used during the match in Anfield:

    Screenshot2024-04-03034204.png.f5bd0ee4c6c2c54de115bafb75e7a6fd.png

My thought process was to let them TAA (Right DM in possession) and Thiago (Left DM in possession) to pass the ball to the winger on their respective side. Since they are playing with 3-2-5 in possession, their wingers could be easily isolated, especially by showing them to their outside foot. Then, my winger will help my FB to form a 2v1 against the winger. Here's one moment of that:

    That's some good ****!

Really like your tactic a lot as well, It has been fun using it! Did you make any changes in the mean time?

Thanks :D. And yeah I did. Basically:
    - I didn't use the trap outside in recent matches. Instead, I use prevent short GK distribution (to buffer their attack, so opponents don't advance up the field to easily).
    - I changed some of the roles too (add/remove some TIs)
    - I started to incorporate 'Show onto foot' more often especially in big matches where they usually line up with 3-2-5 in possession.
    - I formulated my Big Match starting XI.

All of the mentioned changes are due to the 2-2 draw away against Man United and 1-2 home loss against Brentford. Hopefully I can get the time to finish the season so I can write a more a in-depth one. :)

    very strange

what is everyone expecting from a final update?

Can confirm, in my save, Haaland has only played once in the last 3 games after the last update. And it was only against Ludogorets in CL league phase. He was not even on the bench against Liverpool and Arsenal. He was not injured for those matches.

  11. Off to a good start with my Everton side going into the 2nd season! My approach is aggressive mid-block paired with fast attack.

    Screenshot2024-03-19212806.thumb.png.d436340e266bb5c4cfe39749bf8d4861.png

    Screenshot2024-03-19213023.png.ee2d882ee8dd81a83fe524dc7ad2f2dd.png

I am happy to not dominate the possession of the ball, but still aim to disrupt the opponents' attempt to circulate the ball and progress the ball forward. My side currently won the most headers in the premier league, although the header win rate is 4th with 55%. The win rate deflates a bit as my Everton side cross the ball a lot.

    Screenshot2024-03-19212927.png.f1ca4fd3abc3684c1bbd61e089ae2381.png

The biggest result is obviously the victory against Manchester City at Etihad. For this match I went with cautious mentality, but the TIs are the same. Vitaliy Mykolenko was a double agent, subbed in on 60th minute and got sent off after a two-footed tackle on Kovacic. Changed my formation to 4-1-2-1-1 from that point to protect the middle, since Pep Guardiola played with 3-2-5 in settled possession.

    Screenshot2024-03-19212958.png.7f04bfdf545e9467ee2d335d148931a6.png

My tactic is shown below, the PIs:

    - Shoot more often on the striker (Calvert-Lewin and Beto)

    - Dribble more on Onana

    - Take more risks on Garner

For this season, I start to switch Danjuma and McNeil based on which side of opponent's full back is weaker/less attacking. My aim is to let Danjuma 1v1 his side's full back a lot and let McNeil support the team more by tracking the more attacking full back. It was very effective when I put McNeil to deal with Trippier and let Danjuma destroy Dan Burn. The role of both players stays the same, Danjuma with IW(at) and McNeil with WM(su).

    Screenshot2024-03-19212855.png.eedd5ace0996fbffd60f46c4f5e14fbf.png

I set my own attacking corner tactic and across two seasons, attacking corner has been fruitful.

In this save, I set my recruitment focus based on my version of team DNA, which are (yellow is 12 to 14, green is 15 and up):

    Screenshot2024-03-19212909.png.0c41971c47f2b50fb39c1b406c3363ea.png

Besides that, I am aiming to arm this Everton side with physically imposing, hard working players. Shown by a couple of recruitments that I've done, which are:

Here is the result of my first season (with 10 points deduction):

The improved quality of the squad is really showing in my 2nd season.

  12. Hey Shrew, I just started a new save with Deportivo La Coruna. And I noticed that my B team isn't exactly playing the same tactic as my first team. Unlike the B team, the U-19s team is actually playing like my first team. The result is every one of my B team player doesn't develop their tactical familiarity. Is this the same case as you with Sporting Gijon? Sorry if this issue has been addressed before in this thread. Thanks!

First photo is my first team, second photo is the responsibility regarding the training, third photo is my U-19s, and the fourth is my B team.

I would get Filippo Galli. His favourite formation is 4-4-2 which is pretty close to 4-4-1-1. Also he is a Model Citizen. It's in my opinion the best personality that you could have for HoYD. Newgens who can inherit this personality is very prized. Finally, his attribute spread is the best out of all the choices you showed

Thanks for the answer! Filippo Galli was my first pick too. One more question just to confirm it: there is no way to possibly increase the physical aspects of the newgens coming through my intakes through the HoYD, right?

The corner kicks with this team has been very, very effective. I tweaked the attacking corner kicks a little bit to get more men crowding the far post and the result is 4 goals from corner kicks in 6 matches. My Everton side is currently leading in terms of most headers won and most headers won percentage.

It's still very hard to be solid defensively though as I have conceded 9 goals (3 from corner kicks, 1 from penalty kick).

  14. Hey everyone, I am currently on a new save with Everton. My goals of this save are:

    - to be solid defensively

    - to maximize set pieces by having tall, physical players across the team

    - to maximize the newgens produced by my club that reinforce those two points mentioned above.

My question is: which Head of Youth Development should I get to maximize my chance to achieve those three goals (considering their coaching style, personality, etc)?

    These are the candidates:

    image.thumb.png.a9191b076086ff51555045ecb6c0ee1c.png

Correct me if I'm wrong, but coaching style or/and playing mentality of the HoYD matters right?

    Thanks ahead!

    Edit: I'm playing mid block 4-4-1-1 (with 2 CMs and 2 ML/MR).

Besides the attribute growth (which is really insane), his potential also went up from 2,5 yellow stars to 4 yellow stars. I know that the stars are just based on one of your staff's opinion, but still. I'm getting a lot of players like Luis Ochoa who just came through they youth intake only having 2,5 yellow stars (3,5 white stars) potential... my question is: should I take those guys into my team too and hope that my staff's opinion on their potentials are wrong? Or did you just get lucky with Ochoa.

Some beautiful growth from Ochoa. Out of interest do you control his full training and add him into the senior team unit? Youth development is something I really need to get better at.

For now, only Spain is full detail. I was thinking of experimenting with full detail elsewhere but didn't want to screw up and make my game unbearably slow

For a future save where I'm back with graphical attributes (say if I good back to Verona) then I think I'd bump a selection of 5 or 6 leagues to full detail and use the stats from there. With the focus on youth and the Mexican market, I don't think I need it in this save

Thank you for the reply. Yeah, I think full detail in some leagues other than ours is much more needed when playing without attributes.
