  1. This is interesting...the transfer embargo is not much of an issue at this point if this gets resolved quickly.
  2. November 2074 Great start, particularly from Samson Yussuf who has 3 goals in his first 2 games. Better yet, ASEC Mimosas have already dropped a couple of points at home. Next Fixtures December is already busy and a couple of Confederation Cup games on top of that dont help, but hopefully we can carry on the good form in Ligue 1 and guarantee Group football on the continental stage.
  3. 2074/75 Season Preview Media has usas favorites again and we have 6 out of the Media Dream Eleven. We did invest heavily, will this finally be the year we topple ASEC Mimosas? Transfers In Out Last season we sold Hicham Abdalas and Georges Codjo for a combined $2.1M and reached another Champions League final, which enabled us to make some bigger investments for this season, we did also make some decent money on selling fringe players to offset our spend. These are probably the biggest changes in the First Team for a few seasons, here are our new First Team contenders: He is naturally a left back, but is capable on both feet and will primarily play on the right for us. He is actually a signing from last season on a free from ASEC Mimosas and will fight for a centre back spot. We may have overpaid on this one but I am exited to see a true attacking full-back on the left again. Very excited about this youngster who threatens to bench Aristide Ouattara. Bargain signing on a free from Nigeria, the perfect DLF for us. Assistant XI Dont agree with this XI entirely, especially at right back and Kapolongo is a sub for me, albeit a very good one we signed last year. Initial Fixtures Feels good to have Ligue 1 games again! A nice home game to start us off before a tricky trip to AS Tanda.
  4. September/October 2074 From two time finalist to not even making the Group Stage...we got a really tough draw in Zamalek and it was their ability to score at the death that got them through, with two goals after the 90th minute in the first leg and another in the second leg when it looked like we would squeeze past them on away goals. This will be a huge blow financially, luckily we have a buffer but I think that will be gone by the end of the season. We have a shot at making it into the Confederation Cup, which is a lot less financially rewarding but would still be good for us to get into. CF Rahimo are not a walkover by far but hopefully we should have enough quality to get through.
  5. 2073/74 West African Review CAF Champions League 7 teams again with three from the Ivory Coast, although Séwé FC had a terrible campaign. In the end only Cosmos and the big Ghanaians go to the Quarters. Another painful final defeat for Cosmos, but at least the title stayed in West Africa. It is an impressive 9th title for Hearts of Oak. CAF Confederation Cup 7 sides here again with two from Burkina Faso, Étoile Filante being the surprise. 3 teams make it to the Quarter Finals. Another West African final as Génération Foot beat CNEPS Excellence in the Semi Final before walking over Enyimba Aba to claim their first Confederation Cup. West African League Rankings Surprise, surprise - Ghana and Nigeria swap places again. League Champions Former Champions MC Breweries: Finished 3rd in the second tier again, but this time won the promotion playoff so will be back in the top tier! Kamboi Eagles: Another season spent in the unplayable leagues. Nô Pintcha da Brava: Disappointing season as they finish 3rd in Liga Brava and are knocked out in the Semi Final of the Taça Brava. AFC Nhacra: A bit better as they finish 4th, but are knocked out early in the cup again. Ayéma FC: Slight drop as they finish 9th in the Championship Group. CNEPS Excellence: Another 3rd place in Ligue 1 but do well to get to the Confederation Cup Semi-Final. No domestic cup success this season. Banjul Utd: 4th again in the First Division. ASN NIGELEC: Finish well in the Superlige in 6th and get to the Quarter Final of the Coupe du Niger. Unisport: Slightly better in the Championship as they finish in 5th. CFFEB: Really strong season as they finish 2nd again and win the Coupe du Faso. Flamme Olympique: Great season as they finish 2nd, just 3 points off the top. Avenir AC: Unlucky not to have won Ligue 1 as they finish level on points with Stade Malien but end second due to their head to head record. Do win the Coupe du Mali, but fail to reach the group stage of the Confederation Cup again, this time losing to a good Enyimba Aba side.
  6. Some good news, league fixtures have been generated for next season, so we are back to trying to wrestle the title off ASEC Mimosas!
  7. In 2074 we have our first World Cup winner from Africa and it is a West African side as Mali edge out Brazil! This means Cosmos has a World Cup winner as our goalie Abdrahmane Coulibaly was part of the squad!
  8. In more positive news the club finally confirmed plans to build a new stadium. It is not massive but is over double what we have now and will not come at a huge cost for the club.
  9. 2073/74 Champions League Final Ugh...we lost Ouorou in the eve of the final and it made a huge difference as we just didnt click up front. Have to say I am getting tired of finishing 2nd with Cosmos.
  10. 2073/74 Champions League Semi-Final - Second Leg An amazing first 25 mins put the tie to bed and we just managed the game from there to reach another Champions League final! And we play Hearts of Oak in the final in two weeks time!
  11. 2073/74 Champions League Semi-Final - First Leg We were wasteful and should have won but, but at least we take a lead with us to Algeria.
  12. 2073/74 Champions League Quarter-Final - Second Leg Never really in danger and we breeze past Raja. Two unfancied sides playing in the Semi-Final as we face USM Alger whilst Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak play the Ghana Derby in the other Semi-Final.
  13. 2073/74 Champions League Quarter Final - First Leg Great win in Casablanca and we are in control of the tie.
  14. I am not going to go into any transfers etc., just report our results in the Champions League this season. 2073/74 Champions League Group Stage Guess having fresh legs helps, dominated a tough group, finishing 5 points ahead of Asante Kotoko and qualifying first. Tough but at this stage all teams will be difficult. We got a win and a draw in the Group Stage against them last season so hopefully we can get past the Morrocans.
  15. Absolutely, ASEC Mimosas and their 32 consecutive titles is almost like the ultimate challenge on this save!
  16. I hope so too! Been weird dimming through the season just waiting for the Champions League games so hopefully next season things go back to normal.
  17. Tough group but at least we will be fresh for games with no league fixtures...
  18. So I just noticed something discouraging...there has been a bug and we have no league fixtures for this season...unsure what to do right now. Think I will play out this season in the hopes that it will auto-correct for next season and if it doesnt I think I would need to skip Ivory Coast, which I really dont want to do.
  19. September/October 2073 As easy as you like this year and we will have Champions League Group Stage games for another season.
  20. Was hoping to have a Champions League to Kojo's name, but without it still just sneaked into the Ghanaian Hall of Fame. 20th place in Africa has 427 points so Kojo is some way off that...
  21. 2072/73 West African Review CAF Champions League Strong showing from West Africa again with 7 teams at this stage and 5 going through to the Quarter-Final We all know how this one ended, but a proud moment for Ivorian football and 4th title for ASEC Mimosas. CAF Confederation Cup 7 teams here too, but only 3 progress further. Not a great showing from West Africa as Asante Kotoko are the only Semi-Finalist. An all-North African final sees Wydad Casablanca win their 5th title. West African League Rankings We have the typical yoyo between Nigeria and Ghana again and in the lower rep leagues Guinea Bissau is now ahead of The Gambia, League Champions No big surprises as most big teams continue to dominate. Former Champions MC Breweries: Decent first season back in the 2nd tier as they finished 3rd but missed out on promotion due to losing the playoff. Also did well to get to the Semi-Final of the LFA Cup. Kamboi Eagles: Another season spent in the unplayable leagues. Nô Pintcha da Brava: Retain the Liga Brava and finish 3rd in their Group in the Cape Verdean Competition, but are knocked out early in the Taça Brava. AFC Nhacra: Terrible defence of their title as they finish in 6th and are knocked out early in the cup again. Ayéma FC: Slightly better as they finish 7th in the Championship Group. CNEPS Excellence: Look to be fading away with another 3rd finish and a poor Confederation Cup Group Stage campaign. Did at least win the League Cup. Banjul Utd: Up one position from last season as they finish in 4th. ASN NIGELEC: A very strong 4th place in the Superligue, but an early exit in the Coupe du Niger. Unisport: Did make it to the Championship Group this year but finished rock bottom there. CFFEB: Manage a 2nd place finish in the league, but exit the Coupe du Faso in the last 16 stage. Flamme Olympique: Improve from last season and finish in mid table at 6th. Avenir AC: 3rd place in Ligue 1 and a Quarter Final exit in the Coupe du Mali. Will be disappointed with their continental campaign again as they lose to Zamalek in the First Round of the Champions League, which is fine, but then lose to Al-Shat SC from Libya to miss out on a place in the Confederation Cup Group Stage.
  22. 2072/73 Season Review A painful end to a season of second bests. We accumulated the most points by a team in the history of Ligue 1 without winning a title, behind an ASEC Mimosas side that beat the record of points in a season. The same ASEC Mimosas beat us in the final of an excellent Champions League campaign, we went ahead in the first half but couldnt hold on and to be fair they were deserved winners. Squad by Appearances With the amount of games we had this season, there was bound to be a lot of rotation, but we also had some healthy competition for places in defence and midfield which helped us keep a strong campaign on the domestic and con fronts. Awards We sneak a couple of players in the Champions League Dream Team. In Ligue 1 Coulibaly is Goalkeeper of the Season for a second time and Aristide Ouattara becomes the player with the most goals in a single season in the story of the league, scoring an impressive goal per game. We actually have more players in the Team of the Season than ASEC Mimosas too. Top Performers Keeps getting better and better in front of goal. Had a really good goalscoring season and continues to improve. With continued interest from Europe and only a year left on his contract I do believe we will have to sell him in the off season though. Surprisingly consistent player. Moving back home after the end of his contract, but at 32 I dont think that is necessarily a bad thing. Finances A huge windfall from the Champions League campaign, debating whether to wait on the stadium plans from the board before making requests for Facility improvements or just going for it. Progress Another year, another 2nd place. We were somewhat unfortunate in the league as our first encounter with ASEC Mimosas we had half the first team of in the AFCON. It is small margins now and we are close. Other than Abdalas I believe we can hold on to our key players and Aboubakar Coulibaly could well fill that gap in midfield anyway, so hopefully we can come back strong again next season and keep challenging ASEC Mimosas.
  23. Those would be really challenging on a continental level, would be very interesting to follow!
