  1. Update: I finally got sent on my first coaching course! It was 2 weeks before my contract expiry having rejected a new contract twice, and was not long after winning the Welsh Cup which may have helped. I did go for a new contract after they finally let me do the course.
  2. 2023/24 - Haverfordwest County AFC - JD Cymru Premier Board Expectation - Top half finish Media prediction - 5th Once again, I had a busy transfer window. A large number of players came in, including a couple of loans and I managed to clear out some more of the deadwood. The biggest struggle I had to begin with was arranging friendlies. In amongst them, my somewhat lacking in match fitness squad faced Irish team Dundalk in the Europa Conference League first qualifying round. We got smashed 11-1 on aggregate, including an 8-1 loss in the away leg. Yeah, that wasn't great. We also lost in most of the pre-season friendly matches. I was wondering if we were in for a very tough season. I needn't have worried - the league campaign got off to an absolute flier, with it taking 10 league games for us to taste our first defeat, having won 7 and drawn 2 of the first 9 games. Indeed, we only lost on two occasions before the league split and we finally managed to get some results over TNS, which was nice to see. In amongst this all, the board were still refusing to allow me to go onto a coaching course, and so I did start applying for jobs. I didn't get a single interview. Our league form remained good, although it did drop off a little bit after the league split, as is kind of to be expected when you're only facing the better half of the league. Although we went into the final day in 4th place, with there only being 2 point separating the 1st to 4th places (Bangor in 1st on 60 points, and Connah's Quay and TNS on 59 and us on 58). We finished with a 2-2 draw against TNS to keep us in 4th place, with both Bangor and Connah's Quay winning to keep themselves 1st and 2nd respectively. The domestic cups were a great success. We reached the League Cup final, where Connah's Quay edged it 2-1. We also reached the final of the Welsh Cup and this time, we emerged victorious. Again, Connah's Quay were the opponents - it was looking very much like we'd be looking at defeat again as they took a 10th minute lead. The final whistle was approaching with the score 1-0. I made a quick alteration to the formation, and we managed to equalise in the 88th minute to take the game to extra time. There were no goals in the first half of extra time so it seemed penalties were looming. However, despite being tired the players really turned on the style in the second period of extra time, scoring 3 goals to win the final 4-1. I was offered contract renewals on two seperate occasions as my contract was coming to an end, turning them down both times on the basis that the board would not allow me to start my coaching badges. However, on the 17th of June, the option to ask came up again and the board finally agreed to let me take the course. As they finally agreed, I went back and asked for a new contract, which they offered and I signed - so I have another year here, unless something drastic happens. One thing which confused me massively was Europa Conference League qualification. Winning the cup meant we qualified. Despite this, we still went into the qualification playoffs which we lost to TNS in the final. Even so, we still qualified so I have no idea what that's all about. 3. I did ask at a point when I had an A+ rating - they still refused. I think the board for this club are just jerks lol.
  4. Yeah, they do cite this kind of thing. It's very annoying! However, sometimes they just say they don't see the benefit. I've tried this. Doesn't help sadly!
  5. I'm managing in Haverfordwest County AFC in the Cymru Premier. I started the save unemployed, minimal rep and no coaching badges. I've done well in the role - outperformed what was expected in almost all competitions (I'll brush the Europa Conference League under the rug) and have reached 3 cup finals (potentially 4) in 3 seasons, winning one along the way. Still, my board refuse to send me on a coaching course. I ask as regularly as I can. We're not in an overdraft and I'm well under budget - the club can afford it. They're happy to send every other member of the coaching team on courses though (without me asking them to). As it stands, I'm the first team manager and the only member of the coaching team without any coaching qualifications. It all seems kind of ridiculous to me.
  6. Based on the info I can see, I'm assuming your broken laptop has the Ryzen 5 4600H CPU. If that's correct, then this laptop you've linked is comparable in terms of the CPU (both score quite closely to each other on https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html?). The 3050Ti is a definite upgrade on the 1650Ti, That said, for the same price, I'd go for this as it's an upgrade on both the CPU and the graphics card: https://www.box.co.uk/82JU00PDUK-Lenovo-Legion-5-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-RAM-512G_4095715.html
  7. I was talking in general - numerous sources state that Ryzen CPU's work better with dual channel RAM, however I accept this difference doesn't extend to FM performance.
  8. I've added an edit to the post with another suggestion (while you were typing I think).
  9. https://www.box.co.uk/G5-MD-51UK123SO-Gigabyte-G5-Intel-Core-i5-16GB-RAM-512GB_4146282.html It won't run all recent AAA titles with settings maxed out, but it should be able to run anything acceptably as long as you're prepared to reduce some settings in the more demanding titles. Edit: Just seen this is actually out of stock..... I'll take another look. Edit 2: https://www.box.co.uk/82JU00PDUK-Lenovo-Legion-5-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-RAM-512G_4095715.html If you're looking at AAA games, 16GB RAM is preferable...... however there isn't anything in the budget with 16GB RAM in the stores I've looked at which is actually in stock. This however has a very capable CPU and GPU.
  10. As you have a Ryzen CPU, dual channel RAM is definitely what you'd want to go for. From what I understand, it makes less of a difference with Intel CPU's. Also, as far as I know you won't see any difference between 3200MHz and 3600MHz RAM with a Ryzen 5 3600, so you'd be just as well saving a bit of money and going for the 3200MHz sticks.
  11. It'll run FM. It likely won't be terribly quick, but for the price it's ok. Not sure how good the integrated graphics are in these - I'd assume not great so expect to need to turn the 3D settings down.
  12. There weren't any links om your post at all, hence my request. Going by UK sites, this is the sort of thing I'd look for: https://www.box.co.uk/82KD002LUK-Lenovo-V15-G2-Ryzen-5-8GB-RAM-512GB-SSD-_3614141.html
  13. All good - you don't often get the dual SSD setup on laptops, so I wouldn't use that as a reason to put you off.
  14. If you're referring to the old systems where you plonk a monitor on top of them, you don't really see them these days...... at least not with all the things you're looking for. If you're happy with a full PC case etc, then this is good for the price: https://ao.com/product/90n900fcuk-lenovo-ideacentre-g5-desktop-black-90977-253.aspx
  15. Can you provide actual links to the ones you're looking at please? Model numbers can be a bit hit and miss with laptops so I want to make sure I'm looking at the correct ones.
  16. This is a known issue with one of the most popular custom skins. The answer is to use a different skin.

  18. This passed me by at the time.... but I just checked how the 2022 World Cup played out. And it's fair to say the winner was a little bit surprising:
  19. 2022/23 - Haverfordwest County AFC - JD Cymru Premier Board Expectation - Top half finish Media predction - 4th A few players departed in the summer, most notably Ashley Richards who had been on a frankly ridiculous £800 per week. And so a bit of a rebuild was needed. The issue was finding players who would come who were actually any good. I managed to get a few players in, a few of whom weren't as good as I'd have liked but there were holes in the squad which needed to be filled and they were the best I could manage. Plus, I brought in a few youngsters, none of whom were actually any good but would count towards the home-grown quota if needed. I also brought in a handful of loan players, but the mistake I'd made because I'd taken a bit of a break from the game was that two of them had expected to play specific roles, which I'd largely not played them in, which meant two of them got recalled by their parent clubs after a handful of games and seeing as the league allows a maximum of 4 loans per season stuffed me up royally in that regard. Still, I had to work with this and just get on with the job at hand. The season started out pretty terribly as we lost both of the first two games and then drew the third, leaving us with a bit of a hill to climb if we were going to meet our expectations. Thankfully, the results soon picked up and we generally won games, unless we were up against any of the other teams near the top of the table - once again TNS and Connah's Quay proved to be very stiff opposition, as well as Bangor City who had emerged as a force to be reckoned with following their dominant promotion from the Cymru North last season and were actually the early pacesetters of the league. TNS had started as slow as we did, but unsurprisingly soon got going and ended up winning the league by 9 points. We did manage a draw against TNS near the end of the season, but this was likely helped by the fact they'd already secured the league title. The league was a success, although we definitely showed that we still had work to do after the league split as we weren't so good against the teams around us. But a 3rd place finish was an excellent result, and equals the club's highest ever finish and saw us qualify for the qualify for the Europa Conference League, albeit at the first qualifying round stage. The cups were a mixed bag - the Welsh Cup, for which we were beaten finalists last season saw us crash out at the first hurdle on penalties against lower league opposition. But we won the Welsh League Cup, largely helped I think by TNS getting knocked out early on and we managed a very impressive 3-1 win against Bangor City in the final. Once again, the board refused to allow me to go on coaching courses - I'd considered not renewing my contract due to this, but seeing as there's European football next season I decided I would renew my contract for a further year. But once we're knocked out of Europe (and I'm not expecting us to progress beyond the first qualifying round), I will probably keep a close eye on what jobs become available. 20. RAM can be upgraded sometimes, but it depends on the model of the laptop. If you can give me some examples of sites you're looking at, I'll have a look and see what I can find for you.

  22. You can, but it won't be ideal given the 4GB RAM. Is this a machine you already own, or are you looking at a new one? If you're looking at a new laptop, let me know your budget and I'll see what I can find.
  23. For that price, I'd take it back and get one of these if they're in stock: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/asus-vivobook-m515ua-15.6-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-256-gb-ssd-silver-10230027.html https://www.currys.co.uk/products/dell-inspiron-14-5415-14-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-256-gb-ssd-silver-10230731.html Much better CPU in these.
  24. How much did you pay for it? It's not one I'd have recommended due to the base clock speed on that CPU being lower than SI recommend, but I don't doubt that it'd run the game.
