Southgate was hardly this must-have guy beforehand. I joked about Aidy Boothroyd before, but he's probably entirely the sort of guy the FA would go for though...

    Thing is, and let's not make out I would advocate for Gerrard here...Southgate hardly had this stellar managerial career before getting the big job.

    I hope (and I say that in the sense of it not being a tactical decision) a slight knock was the reason, otherwise it's really poor. I get why we might want to get Sterling in the game but given the situation he's been in was it the right place to throw him out there? We had other options on the bench to turn to.

    Yeah, no idea why he's taken Saka off. He had the run of the French team, and barring terrible officiating, was causing them problems. Poor decision yet again.

    Agreed It's ****ing galling because if there's one player you'd put money on to bury a pen he'd be up there. Another what could have been moment, but he's not a villain for missing. And he might have only got 2 goals this tournament but he was at the heart of other chances and goals.
