When there is a bug in the match engine, it can be fairly simple to see what it is - for the sake of argument long balls in behind. That situation might arise because of multiple different factors however and identifying as many as possible maximises the chances of getting a meaningful resolution. Changes made in the match engine have knock on effects which need to be tested and reviewed, I appreciate it can be frustrating to wait.

I think in general the match engine is a great improvement btw, that's why its annoying, this one bug is ruining it. Even when playing low defensive line and low block, defensive line are sitting way too high when opposition have ball in their half which causes the easy long balls over the top. Surely it wouldn't be too just difficult to just edit the defensive lines back a bit? IMO they are way too high

Thanks for providing some additional examples to work with.

tbf you've been given more than enough PKM's / examples of the tragic defending on this game to at least implement some kind of fix by now. This issue is making the game unplayable. Long balls in behind are ridiculously overpowered and defenders act like 5 year olds.

  3. in FM22 teams in lower leagues would complete 600+ passes per game with 88% passing accuracy which is ridiculous. This year the passing completed % is much more accurate so i disagree with you here. Lower league players should be having poor ball control, misplaced passes, losing the ball, otherwise there is no difference between playing with the best teams. there are issues with the match engine but this is actually one of the things i liked, fm22 was completely ridiculous on this front

    Thanks for the link!

When comparing real life to FM statistics it becomes clear that something is not right. Hopefully something they can correct for the official release.

As you wrote Swansea average 85% pass completion while WBA avergae 62%:

In FM Swansea average 92% pass completion while the lowest teams average around 85%:

So there is a clear mismatch going on here and hopefully this can be fixed. My biggest problem with FM21 was that it was way to easy to achieve success in the lower divisions, and it seems like a lot of people find the beta to easy as well. But i have no idea how difficult it will be to tweak this in the match engine.  Perhaps if the teams with lower passing ability reflects the stats from life more realistically, that can have knock on effects on other areas....?

Yeah I also feel like it's gonna be a big one and take a lot of time for them to get the issue fixed. Possibly a whole revamp of the pressing system/passing accuracy in general. In real football, the reason teams will have lower passing % will be because the other team is pressing and not giving them time on the ball forcing them to make bad passes or long balls. On FM the pressing doesnt resemble the actual intensity of real life pressing therefore making it much easier for defenders to just pass between themselves and rack up 98% passing accuracy. As I said, the rest of the game is really good but when im seeing every team have 88%+ passing accuracy every game it kind of ruins the whole game for me. On FM21 I could go to lower divisions JUST so that the passing accuracy was kind of more realistic, but i shouldnt have to do this. I want to play with championship teams and not instantly be able to turn them into a team who can have better passing accuracy than a real life Man City. If SI can get this somewhat fixed, even if not perfect, for full release it would make it the best FM release yet imo, because the passing accuracy has been an issue for a while now yet they never seem to address it.

  5. Here is a link for the average pass completion of teams in the championship:

As you can see, the highest here is Swansea who average 85%, with the lowest being West Brom who average 62%. The problem with FM22 is that every single team avaerges like 86-90 which looking at the real life averages, is completely unrealistic which then means that the new 'Data Hub' becomes irrelevant as its pretty much the same for every team. I have decided not to play the game until the pass completion is fixed and it reflects real life averages. I understand it isnt going to be perfect but this change would honestly make such a huge difference. Also the match stats seems a bit crazy and 4-2-3-1 is once again overpowered to the point where as a non league side i have around 25 shots and 10 on target every game with a pass completion of like 86% every game. If this unrealism can be fixed for full release I will be very grateful as currently it really kills any enjoyment that the game aims to provide
