In fm 23 I ran into  a few annyoing things but these 2 are VERY annoying.

    1. While playing in Italy I get a player back from loan in January and I want to loan him out again. BUT  I can't if the player plas 1 game for my reserve team AND no matter if I put the player in the A team or the U18 squad the game pick out the player for the reserves forcing the player to play and blockin ANY loan moves for the rest of the season. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING and makes ZERO sense since I DO NOT WANT THE PLAYER TO PLAY FOR THE RESERVES!.

Will only weigh in on the first part as the second sounds just like the latest instance of broken player interactions.

But I feel like the first point might not be a bug. If you're playing as Atalanta or Juventus and your reserve team plays in Serie C, a loan player coming back in January and then playing one game for your reserve team will have now played for two teams in the same season, and your first team (or any other team) would count as third team in the same season, which is not allowed by FIFA rules.

  2. These are minor points, but:

    • Has a penalty been disallowed after VAR check in your saves yet? I'm two full seasons in, and haven't seen a single penalty call disallowed by VAR. Sort of breaks the game immersion and the anxiety/excitement I should be feeling once a ref is called to VAR. Especially since IRL, if a penalty is allowed and the ref is called for a VAR check, it usually means there's something important he has missed, therefore the penalty rarely will stand. Seems to be the entire opposite in FM.
    • Why does a highlight pop up, just for nothing to happen for 10 seconds... Because the team doctors are on the pitch to carry someone out? Why in the world would I need to see that? It just makes the highlight start off "wonky" as I keep wondering if the game broke down.

Didn't Brighton do this with Mitoma? And probably a few others like Enciso, Buonanotte, Ferguson etc.  There are a few more examples, but the fact that this is possible in real life, should mean that it's possible in-game, even if it's incredibly difficult.

Couldn't you look at this also the other way around? Just to make an example, Mitoma could have been a player born with 160 PA in FM that has then stagnated around the 110 mark for a few years due to a variety of reasons. Then, after the move to Brighton, he's now in the perfect conditions for his PA to show and he's finally reaching what he has always had the potential to achieve.

Honestly I find the above a much more realistic condition to implement in FM, instead of a dynamic PA. There would certainly be the need to adjust how the current player development is working, as a Mitoma situation would call for an attribute increase that is much quicker and less progressive than how regular player development works in FM, but I would personally love to see something like this implemented in game.

There really isn't much wrong with the AI. In most cases, as I've seen over the many years I've played FM, it's down to user error or incompetence. Let's face it, none of you are as good as you pretend to be. :brock:

    The AI, however, is.

Honestly I find praising the AI pretty wild as, in the vast majority of cases, it's exactly any interaction with said AI that completely breaks how immersive the simulation feels.

Whether it's unbelievably stupid AI squad building, player/squad/board talks or press conferences, the AI is by far what should be top of the list for a revamp.

  5. Hello All, I started getting more "tactically involved" in my save, trying to make slight adjustments to how I want my team to play based on the next opponent. To do this, I rely heavily on the Scout/Analyst report for next opponent, but... The scout and analyst I assign to the task seem to reset every week in the dedicated screen. At least from what I can tell, there seems to be a "Confirm" option, but I can't find anything to permanently assign them to the job. Unfortunately I don't have my personal laptop at the moment so I can't provide screenshots of the in game page, but I assume most people will be familiar with what I'm talking about (I can load it when I get home if needed).

Is there any way to save this assignment as permanent? I understand them resetting in case I don't renew one of their contracts... But having to assign them every single week seems absolutely unnecessary, I can't believe there's no way to have this confirmed automatically. Hoping I'm the one doing something wrong here and that someone can help

  6. I'll add myself to the question here, I've seen it happen in my Wisla save. Was unable to renew basically the entirety of the staff I had on an expiring contract, as the max I was able to offer was suddenly lower. Could it be something related to the Jan. update? I find it hard to believe it's something related to Club finances, as, at least in my case, they are definitely better now than compared to the time when those staff members were originally signed.

I'm still playing FM22 but it's probably still the same as it was the same on FM21 as well.

I get players moaning a lot that they want more first team football when they are classed as regular starters. The problem is with champions league and long domestic cup runs I'm often getting 2 games scheduled just 2 days apart or maybe 3. So usually a rest/recovery day off training and then maybe one session before the next match. They just can't recover in that time. So I basically have 2 outfield teams and a constant goalkeeper (if not injured) that I rotate every game even if I get games a week apart.

How do others manage this? I can't manage to get a player playing over 40 games a season or they'd be basically dead most the time even without much training.

I recently had it where my team suddenly took part in the world club championship which was in the off season and my players just weren't recovering whether rest was set or not. This must be a bug in the game as there was training scheduled once they started the tournament. so by the quarter final they started in the orange/red and 2 players got injured as a result.

Club World Cup schedule is bugged as hell, or at least it was until FM22. Don't know if they've fixed in FM23 but I've read tons of complaints, and experienced this myself, but it's absolutely something they had missed until the latest version. About expected playing time, at least where possible I try to never go over Regular Starter. Haven't really had a lot of issues with it in FM22, seems like players were pretty much fine with rotating CL/League matches, but I think it's a thin line to walk

Damn, I wasn't even aware that Wisla Kraków had been relegated. Sounds a fun save for sure 👍🏻

Highly suggest it, or even just to check out a Polish save with a different club. Poland has little to no squad registration rules in the first division, just a couple of extra ones in the second tier (starting eleven must include one U20 polish player and no more than 2 non-UE players) which make for a fun time. Basically no money of course, at least at the start, but it's also an extremely balanced league where anyone can win at any given time, especially when the top teams qualify for European group spots and have to manage the balance of playing every three days. For instance... To my surprise, I got to the Polish cup final from the second division and only lost 1-0 to Legia. Had I won, I would've qualified for the Conference League playoffs directly from Division 2 :D

  9. Have played just one season so far as I've just moved on from FM22, but having an absolute blast with Wisła Kraków, fallen giant currently sitting in the second division of Poland. Strong side for the league, you start off as a top 2 favorite for promotion and have a really young squad with a couple of really talented youngsters. Check out Piotr Starzynski and Mikolaj Bieganski in your saves. I have no idea what their PA is as I prefer to not have any insight from the in game editor, but after a season of regular playing time they look like genuine gems. Shame I've had to sell Bieganski to Stuttgart (although was at least able to keep on loan till the end of the season) already, but 1.5M (and a 40% future sell on clause) is a lot of money for a lower division polish team, couldn't pass it up

When faced with a player demand, we need an option between saying "no, too bad", which pisses them off, and a promise.  Something like "I'll do my best but can't promise anything," which is more like real life.

When we promise a player to sort out a loan or transfer, but get no takers, the player gets angry.

Isn't this somehow already in the game? I'm quite sure I've promised players both to sell them IF an offer comes in, while at the same time stating that I would not proactively offer them out, and just to flat out do all I can to get them out. In both cases, if no adequate offers come in, I believe more often than not the player accepts to wait as no offer was received?

This at least is my experience with it

  11. Of course this is just a detail, but it's not unrealistic to think that a player that has played an X number of years in a country has built friendships, relationships, etc with people from that country, and therefore that speak that language, that may last long after moving away to play for a different club. And therefore that, to maintain those relationships, he keeps using that language even though he's moved away.

Maybe it doesn't really help the feature discussion, but hopefully it can at least help mitigate this bugbear of yours :)

  12. Read this a couple of times around the forums by now, but to be fair... Are those number really all that unrealistic? In RL, Haaland has currently scored 25 goals in 19 PL games (1 goal every 63' played) and 5 in 4 CL appearances (1 goal every 50').

21 in 5 is of course insane, but it's also just a 5 game sample size. The numbers @rp1966 posted are a much more reliable sample size, and are actually consistent with the craziness that Haaland is IRL

On the pre match screen before the dressing room or in an email the day before the match have the kitman send you an email asking you if you have a preference for which kit to play in. This can be delegated but allows for players to choose which kit to play in rather than only using the second and third kits in a clash. Real clubs do this as well e.g. Everton debuted their new third kit vs Aston Villa despite no kit clash. It's a small little thing and it would be nice to see my team play in the away or third colours once in a while since Bodo/Glimt has a single kit clash in the Norwegian top flight with Lillestrom. Creating an option to design a new away and third before the start of each season would also be a nice addition.

I understand why people would like this, but I'd be surprised to hear that the manager has any say on this IRL, so I don't think it should be added into the game

Not sure if this has already been requested or not but I'd love to be able to cancel my shouts after a phase of play.

The amount of times I've gone to encourage my players at 0-0 and then we'd score so my players would get upset at me.

It would be good to have a message pop up the same as when you make a tactical change after you've scored asking if you want to keep that shout or if you've changed your mind.

I agree that it would be good to have. For the time being though, you can work around it. If you're team scores before the shout has become effective, you should pause the highlight, go into your tactics screen and click on cancel the changes. Once this is done, the shout will be canceled

But when I play games almost every 3 days. I have no chance to give any player 80% of starts. I have this problem with Jesus at Arsenal. Granted he is star player.
I have to keep starting him and take him off at half time so he'll be able to start the next match. Coz when he played roughly 75% of games he was concerned about his playing time.
He didn't come to me and complain. But under happiness tab he is concerned about his playing time.

Since I often rotate the squad to keep my most important players fit for CL mathes, I find myself having Important players worried about their playing time.

What I usually do is, knock down their expected playing time every time I can, in addition of course to regularly play them in CL+League matches played once a week (maybe twice if I don't have a close CL match). I found that if you have a good relationship with them, more often than not they will come to chat because they're worried about their decreased playing time, just to then drop their worries immediatly because they're happy I approached them to talk about it. Worse case is if they don't, and you can just apologize and bring things back, which pretty much makes them happy again.

Of course you won't be able to turn Star players into Squad players, but Star player -> Important player and Important player -> Regular starter usually work for me. It might not be ground breaking, but it definetly helps, especially for someone that you want to keep but would not be willing to renew his contract unless he gets a role that's one level higher than what you'd be willing to give them.
