  1. Hi and thanks a million to both of you, that’s really helpful. @Rashidi yeah I get what you’re saying completely. I’ve always ended up going that way myself. I’ll stick to that for this year and maybe in the future SI will find a way to make it less tedious in some ways and less crazy in others. Thanks again for the help!
  2. I've been reading the forums for a long time but never contributed so firstly thanks retrospectively for all the great help you've given over the years! Anyway, I have a question just to save my own sanity more than anything. Last year I had some success with a semi man marking Bielsa style system (Usually ST as a pressing forward and then the Ws man marking FB often with one CM man marking the DM but I would change it match by match depending on if it made sense) but this year I was hoping to emulate Bielsa's way properly. The attacking part isn't so much of a problem but the defensive system causes issues. Here is a link to a page that explains his general system to save me explaining it badly, though I'm sure most of you are familiar with it. https://totalfootballanalysis.com/team-analysis/leeds-united-20-21-assessing-their-defensive-tactics-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics I've tried to recreate it but I knew it was going to be a long shot. If you look at what he does he leaves Bamford free and has him press and leaves Cooper free and has his as the free man who can press and pick up people who break past their marker. Everyone else has a man they stay on for the whole game unless someone breaks off their runner and then when the ball goes past them they leave their man and press. I'm current thinking having experimented a little is that it's impossible to truly recreate this on FM as there's just too much going on for a simulator to really recreate. I wondered if anyone else thought it would be possible though? All I'm finding is that the players are too literal with their marking and I can't find think of any way to add nuance using the in-game instructions. Look at one of the pics on the site I linked to and see Costa is standing off whereas on the game he would be tight. Also, the players are constantly running off their markers (I know this happens in real life too) and no one leaves their markers. After a set piece all the players immediately run off to take find their marker leaving their ST with a 1 on 1 from the half-way line haha! I had to set Cooper to stay back for corners to avoid this but I think this was the final straw for me. I was already struggling due to the fact that a you can't tell a player to leave their marker once the ball has passed them if necessary etc but the set piece stuff was for me the final nail in the coffin. Anyway, to reiterate, I know this is a special system, many think it's stupid IRL anyway, and I know that it's always going to be to emulate any tactic in a game let alone this one. This isn't a whinge or me saying the game is bad, far from it! I just thought before I gave up I'd ask if anyone thinks there is a way to emulate it after all? Thanks in advance!
