Brora Rangers – Season 28 (2051/52)
Europe A bit of a de-ja-vu in Europe this season as, after getting through tough knock-out ties against Man City and Barcelona, we faced Milan in the semis (like last year) and, having beaten them thanks to 2 own goals, faced our conquerors Spurs in the final again (and they, like last year, beat Man U in their semi).
I played the final on a different computer to try and break the curse and of course, completely logically, it worked
We were 2-1 up, Spurs equalised with 3 minutes to go, and our players looked knackered, so I thought that was it. But going into extra time we had a huge slice of luck as one of their players got sent off for a 2nd yellow, and we managed to score 2 quick goals to make it 4-2 and finally win the whole thing!
Ta-da, CHALLENGE COMPLETE!!
The stars of the CL-winning team are
Andy Morton 17a (AMRL) - just an absolutely world class player, maybe the best I’ve had in all my years playing this challenge, guess that’s what you get after 28 different intakes!
Robbie Clark 15a (DMC) - a very well rounded elite defensive midfielder who chipped in with quite a few goals this season.
Jure Galic (ST) - the man who beat all odds after being rated 1* PA at intake; you need a good striker in this challenge and he was the man.
Niall Reid 19b (DR) - my defence is still comparatively terrible but it got much better over the last few years, and this man was key, defending and attacking well from the full-back position

Ryan Nelson 08c (DL) (appearances) came through in the Championship and was our starting left back and captain for the best part of 20 years, 100+ assists and 50+ goals in 536 league appearances, a true club legend

Brora Rangers – Season 27 (2050/51)
Europe/League We played great in the CL this year, and some kinder-than-usual draws saw us reach the final. I thought we were finally going to do it but a very even game against Spurs was decided by a late penalty, unfortunately in their favour. Domestically, we won the treble.
Players Think I got a few more years to give the CL a good go before our star players age out. Andy Morton 17a (AMRL) was the star of the season, he even made it onto the “best players in the world” list!
Youth intake (preview) Some decent prospects this year, though the best one is an attacker yet again.
Facilities No upgrades.
Transfers Sold some backup players for decent money.
We’ll keep plugging away…

I had exactly the same issue, the way I got round it was by loading a few autosave backups and holidaying past the "dreaded" date. I never really figured out what was the exact issue but eventually it worked (eg I loaded a 1 month old save, holidayed for a month, it worked, then loaded a 1 week old save, it didn't work, then after that the 1 month save stopped working but another save suddenly worked...)

Brora Rangers – Season 26 (2049/50)
Europe We did well beating Real Madrid in the last 16 of the CL, and built up a solid 2-goal lead in the first leg of our quarter final against Inter. But the second leg left me absolutely fuming, I thought I could catch them on the counter so didn’t play very defensive, we conceded 3 quick goals, went more attacking, and ended up losing 7-4 (and 9-8 on aggregate :z) Some of it was self inflicted but we seem to be fading away in Europe over the last few years, unfortunately.
League Easily retained the title
Players Waiting for my defenders to develop, our wonderkid striker Gary Fyffe 20a had another storming season with 30 goals and 14 assists in all comps. In general it feels like I might have a few transitional seasons ahead, some decent youngsters coming up (4 on the NxGn list, 3 of whom are defenders!) but quite a few of our regulars are ageing out, which leaves some gaps in the squad.
Youth intake (preview) Looks like it could be a good one, no elite talents but some 4.5* PA players and a couple of defenders to boot.
Facilities No upgrades, I guess that’s it for youth facilities unless we get a board takeover.
Transfers Nothing major.
This must be the longest youth challenge (or any other save) I’ve played in FM, feels like I’ve gone too far to give up but I do hope I complete this at some point so I can manage another team on this FM

Brora Rangers – Season 25 (2048/49)
League/Europe Close but no cigar again, a CL semi final exit in extra time at the hands of Atletico Madrid. Domestically very dominant, winning a treble.
Players Squad stagnating a bit, but I might have a decent young center back coming through in Trevor Chiken, finally. From the senior players, Jure Galic (ST) had a great year for us, rated as 1* PA at intake, I signed him up because of his 20 determination. Turns out he actually has a terrible personality but is definitely not a 1* player, our best striker at the moment
Youth intake (preview) Disappointing, mostly attackers again and very little talent.
Facilities Stadium expansion completed.
Transfers Nothing major.

I'm blessed with a squad full of players that are like just under that Clark/Morton band of players, but can't seem to get any over that line and those that do ask for minimum fee release clauses.
Yes, in hindsight I was pretty lucky with those two, none of my other players are close to that level, and the intakes are typically 2-3*PA max these days; just hope I manage to complete before these two get too old, which could be done if I get some decent defenders. Funny thing I was almost thinking of selling Clark because he didn't develop at all for the first few years, then once he turned 20-21 suddenly all the attributes started skyrocketing, a strange one for sure - maybe his personality improved or something.

Brora Rangers – Season 24 (2047/48)
League/Europe I’ll cut to the chase, we made the CL final for the second consecutive year, but once again it was not to be, as we lost on penalties to Barcelona. So close!!!! Try again next year I guess. Domestically, another double.
Players We have two truly world class players in the team now, DM Robbie Clark 15a and winger Andy Morton 17a, just look at these guys… Then the attack is generally good, the defence is generally poor, and is going to get even worse as my center backs are ageing and I forgot to renew the contract of my top defensive prospect who will be joining Celtic on a free next year. D’oh!
Youth intake (preview) Another attack-minded intake with one promising winger who I’ll try to retrain into a full back.
Facilities No upgrades.

Brora Rangers – Season 23 (2046/47)
League A bad start saw us closer to the relegation zone than the title in the first third of the season, but we recovered well and even managed to retain the league with a game to spare. Won the league cup as well.
Europe Finally, we went past the quarter final stage, beating Milan, and then a brilliant second-leg extra time win saw us beat Spurs (who are 1st in the PL) in the semi. I thought we were going to do it but it wasn’t to be, Bayern beat us 3-1 in the final. Was a really close game too, could have easily gone our way if not for some great finishing from the Germans (plus the customary own goal for us).
Players Our attack is superb, and the latest addition Gary Fyffe 20a (AMR/ST) had a great debut season, scoring 26 and assisting 17, he is some player! I worry about our defence though, our two starting centre backs are in their 30s and have been our starters since the Championship, and there’s literally nothing waiting in the wings. So I’m not sure we’ll be able to challenge for the CL again as our starting CBs get even older, but maybe our attack will bail us out.
Youth intake (preview) Another very promising striker added to the collection, otherwise nothing memorable.
Facilities Stadium expansion complete, but still can’t upgrade youth facilities.
Transfers Sold some back up players for decent fees.

Brora Rangers – Season 22 (2045/46)
League Another treble, pretty dominant throughout really.
Europe I thought that last year’s extra time loss to Leeds was painful, but this was definitely worse. Up against Inter in the quarters, and by far our best shot at winning the CL since all the big guns somehow got knocked out. We win the home leg 2-0, second leg disaster strikes, sending off and 3-0 down. We then peg it back to 3-2 and into injury time, about to go through on aggregate when Inter score 2 goals in added time, 96th and 98th minute out of 98, and the last one is an own goal from our substitute right back who was only on because of the sending off…
Pff, a rough one to swallow for sure but since my save got corrupted half-way through the season and I managed to recover it using an old backup, I’m happy to just be able to keep playing for now anyway ))
Players Andy Morton 17a (AMRLC) is really amazing attribute-wise, up there with the best players I’ve had in this challenge. No way he’s signing a new contract but I got him tied up for a good 7 years (including the extension) so I aim to get the most out of him while I can!
Youth intake (preview) This is actually a pretty good intake, the star ratings are just completely skewed by Andy Morton’s ability - and we got a keeper and a full back, two positions where we desperately need reinforcements. Now, if only some centre backs would arrive then we could really challenge in Europe.
Facilities No upgrades but a stadium expansion is planned for next year.

@TerminalPortugal Nice, you got some real gems in there! What I like is that most of them are solid all-rounders, no real weak spots attribute-wise; plus a center back with good jumping and a good striker (and a goalie if you can get one!) are super helpful in this challenge from past experience

Brora Rangers – Season 21 (2044/45)
League Our second domestic treble of the save.
Europe After a 7-1 loss to Man Utd in the opening game we did well to recover and qualify for last 16, but I’m still fuming about our exit to Leeds in the quarter final. We completely bossed the home leg but only won 1-0, then were 1-1 until the last minutes of the away leg only to concede a last-ditch (aggregate) equaliser and lose in extra time.
Players Our attack is getting very impressive - another amazing season from Tom Thomas 07a (AML/ST) who’s having his best years towards the end of his career (28 goals and 8 assists this year), Andy Morton 17a (AMRLC) is our best player on paper, and we got another good young attacker in Jake MacGregor 16c (AMR/ST). The less said about the defence the better, however.
Youth intake (preview) Terrible PA this year but we got some ok CA and some decent personalities so maybe some of these will make it.
Facilities No upgrades.

Brora Rangers – Season 20 (2043/44)
League Very dominant in the league, and managed to win the Scottish cup too.
Europe Another good campaign (yes, I have no idea what happened away at PSG), but we fell to an English team again, this time Man Utd in the quarters. We did take them to extra time however.
Players Tom Thomas 07a (AML/ST) had a great season in the supporting striker role, with double figures for both goals and assists, and Andy Morton 17a (AMRLC) won the NxGN and is fast becoming one of our best players, so I made sure to tie him to a long contract while I can.
Youth intake (preview) Looks like we have a potential superstar in Gary Fyffe 20a (ST) - he’s touted as the next Joe Jordan and based on his stats I kind-of agree. I hope we do get some defenders at some point, though - maybe next year…
Facilities No upgrades.

Brora Rangers – Season 19 (2042/43)
League We won the league but exited both domestic cups this year, with a hilarious Scottish cup final where (in the 90th minute) our center-half back-passed the ball to the Dundee Utd striker who was hanging out near our goal-line to score into an empty goal… Good job I don’t need that trophy for the challenge!
Europe We played well in the group stage and comfortably dispatched Leicester (!) in the last 16. An epic quarter final against Man City followed - we drew the home leg 2-2 and went 3-1 up in the away leg, only to be pegged back to 3-3 until the last minutes of extra time. Then I noticed that Man City got 2 players off injured so were playing with 9 men, went to ultra-attacking and our center back scored a 122-nd minute winner from a corner. Alas, we still lost to Aston Villa in the semis, but this is the closest we got to the trophy so far.
Players Hamish Maguire 09c (ST) was fantastic this season, scoring 32 in 40 appearances, and some youngsters are breaking through too, with Andy Morton 17a (AMRLC) the most promising of the lot.
Youth intake (preview) Still a bit top-heavy and poor personality-wise, but we got a couple of 5* prospects, one of whom is a defender - so not bad!
Facilities Finally, a youth facility upgrade! Now to wait another 10 years til’ the next one… We also moved into our new originally-named Brora Rangers stadium.

Brora Rangers – Season 18 (2041/42)
League/Europe Won the domestic treble this year, and made the CL quarter finals for the first time, only to be outclassed by Barcelona.
Players Not many youngsters coming through but youngster Alan Clark 14c (AMRLC) made a promising arrival as a squad player. We’re a bit heavy up-top in terms of young talent, I’m hoping for some defenders come through in the next few intakes.
Youth intake (preview) Absolutely awful personalities, and that’s after changing the HOYD. One player looks like he’ll make it, the rest - not so much.
Facilities We will move into our new stadium next year.

Brora Rangers – Season 17 (2040/41)
Premiership We easily retained the league title, and won the league cup as well.
Europe A great CL group stage saw us win 6/8 games and qualify straight for the round of 16. We narrowly lost the first leg at Newcastle 2-1, and were 3-1 up in the reverse before collapsing and losing 4-3, somewhat undeservedly I must say
Players Not much new talent coming through, but the established players are doing well with Owen Young 12b (DL/DMC) again the best of the lot, 10 goals and 10 assists from midfield for him.
Youth intake (preview) Not much to write home about, maybe aside from 1 decent-looking winger. Bad personalities again despite changing my HOYD.
Facilities No progress, so stuck on great youth facilities for now.

Brora Rangers – Season 16 (2039/40)
Premiership Both Celtic and Rangers completely imploded this season, finishing outside of the CL places. And we took full advantage, finishing 1st, winning our maiden SPL title, and giving the league its first non-old-firm winner since Sir Alex’s Aberdeen in 1984.
Europe We had to go through the qualifiers and got two tough draws in Hoffenheim and Benfica, but managed to edge both, beating Benfica somewhat undeservedly, in extra time. A dramatic last-game win at PSG qualified us for the playoff, where we beat Schalke before losing to Man U in the round of 16.
Players Owen Young 12b (DL/DMC) is going from strength to strength, and a few more youngsters are developing, with untagged Aidan Jablonski (DC) looking the most promising of the lot (and to top it off, he’s a defender!).
Youth intake (preview) Not great, though a promising goalkeeper is very welcome. Once again I’m not happy with the personalities, should really find a new HOYD.
Facilities After rejecting all my requests, the board offered to upgrade youth facilities, and I gleefully said yes.

Brora Rangers – Season 15 (2038/39)
Premiership We actually played better than in any previous season and were right in the title race, but in the end we couldn’t keep it up and a resurgent Rangers pipped us to the usual runner-up spot, with us finishing 3rd in the end. On the plus side, we won our first real trophy of the save, the league cup.
Europe A great run in the CL, we only lost 2 games in the group stage and dispatched Red Star in the playoff before narrowly losing to Real Madrid in the last 16.
Players We have our first wonderkid in Owen Young 12b (DL/DMC), who won the NxGn award and is generally just a top class player. He made 16 assists this season, with our other standout player Hamish Maguire 09c (ST) netting most of them, with 27 goals in total.
Youth intake (preview) A strange one - I kind of feel that this could’ve been a really amazing intake given the ability ratings, but it’s all in the wrong positions (center mid, we only play with DMs and our best player is already a DM), and the top prospects have terrible personalities, shame on me for getting rid of a model citizen HOYD and replacing him with a professional one with better overall ratings. So, not overly impressed in the end unless I can design a narrow 4-3-3 that takes advantage of all my new center mids and strikers.
Facilities The new board kept refusing youth facility upgrades, then at the end of the year complained that I didn’t develop the best youth system in the country. Classic. The new stadium plans are getting more concrete, however.

We were 2-1 up, Spurs equalised with 3 minutes to go, and our players looked knackered, so I thought that was it. But going into extra time we had a huge slice of luck as one of their players got sent off for a 2nd yellow, and we managed to score 2 quick goals to make it 4-2 and finally win the whole thing!
I'm blessed with a squad full of players that are like just under that Clark/Morton band of players, but can't seem to get any over that line and those that do ask for minimum fee release clauses.
