  1. So I decided to go back to Portsmouth again for a longer term save. I know the first season should be formality from previous experience, but we are on course to break the 120 points last time.

However one of our losses is in this ridiculous fashion, not only we threw away a 2-0 lead, two of the goals are conceded in stoppage time after they were down to 10 men, and of course the last second goal was a worldie. Probably my worst loss I can remember in FM, if we were not well ahead in the league I would be super mad.

We did have our epic comeback as well against Charlton:

Another entertaining game in EFL Cup against Chelsea, we were in lead in Standford Bridge at one point thanks to Kepa, but Ben Close's red card after just being subbed on ruined our chances.

Again since first transfer window is disabled, we only added some additional domestic loan deals for more depth, as shown below the original squad is just too good for this level (wish I could say the same IRL)

All files (except Agents pack, as I can't find a solution for it yet) are now updated on Steam.

The Real Names & Nicknames pack is now using the correct Brazilian colors - apparently, it was an editor glitch that made specific color changes from last year change to others this year, for example red switching to blue. Fixed manually.

Anything wrong with the agent pack with 21.4? I just resaved it with editor.

  3. I had already decided this will be my last season no matter what happens, and I think this is the perfect ending. First we edged out Tottenham and Arsenal to take the 6th place by goal difference with our perfect run in the last few games, including an away win in Old Trafford and a crucial 3-2 win against Arsenal. We also need to thank West Brom and Sheff Utd who are already relegated for the goal difference.

Then we went on to lift the 3rd FA Cup for pompey after beating Man Utd and Chelsea in a penalty shoutout.

We were eliminated in Europa League quarter final by Lyon, but I think it was a blessing in disguise. I couldn't be happier to finish the save in a high note with a major trophy win for Pompey.

In retrospect, this save was going too smoothly I would say, I did have some signings with prior knowledge like Matt O'Riley who is still performing very well in pl, even won team of the year this season. Ricky Jade Jones, who was not that good until second half of this season, especially when our main striker was out, he stepped up big time in our last few games.

So that's it, I think I will take a short break and come back with next update for a long term save.

  4. We continued our good from into Feb and March, advancing against Rangers and AZ Alkmaar in Europa League quite convincingly. Only two league losses are away against Tottenham and Liverpool.

    1.png.6ea82ae36efe2b264a5d945059dff4e7.png

We are still just behind the big 6 plus Wolves who is really overperforming this season, but since West Ham somehow won the EFL Cup, our chance in Europe next season is slim, unless we pull a miracle in other two cup competitions.

And this is the fixture for next month, not sure how can we pull through it with our 23 men squad without the luxury of backups in u23/u18 teams (all the quality ones are out on loan).

  5. @Daveincid Yeah, its with the previous udpate.

I might be able provide some insights into Chineses football, I don't follow the league closely but I'm from China and read the news quite often.

We all know its not sustainable to pay ridiculous amount of transfer fee and wage even with relatively large domestic market. Covid situation expose this greater than any other country. The league winner from last year Jiangsu just folded, after winning the league, they did some auditing and found out even with winning the league, they are basically dumping money into a buttomless hole, coupled with other factors like China FA not allowing team name sponsorship any more, so they decided there's no point investing.

As for the game, at least in my save, the tranfers are mostly inline with real life, for example the past transfer window in real life the highest fee is Quintero for ~6m, in my save its never over 10m for past three seasons, no more blockbuster signings like Oscar, Hulk, etc.

So maybe some small adjustment to league reputation? Unless more bad news break out, who knows

  6. Thanks for the update, been playing with the previous update, one thing I like the most you can't just dump any unwanted player to some random Chinese or MLS teams which is very unrealistic.

So from what I gathered the most significant change is the transfer tax, is this new to this update, guess I need to start a new save then. Any other significant change worth noting?

Anyway here's some of the top transfers in my save three years in, mostly in line with what I imagined, only anomaly is 77m from Sporting CP, and Mason Greenwood to Juventus, don't remember any high profile English player not in his 30s in Serie A in recently years, but its Juventus, who knows...

  7. What a turnaround! Suddenly 14 winless run turns into 14 unbeaten run now, so glad we were able to power through these two crazy months with hectic fixture.

    It didn't start well:

Against Chelsea, we came back after two goals deficient but lost to the last minute winner from Timo Werner.

Against Man Utd, we were in lead most of the game but had to settle for a point due to a late goal.

Games against Newcastle and Everton are the turning point, we were 0-2 down half time in both games, but managed to came back in the end.

After that its smooth sailing, although a 3-3 draw against 20th place Fulham is not idea, but we finished the month with our best performance of the season so far, a convincing win against Man City in FA Cup.

We also qualified to the knockout phase in Europa League after the away win in Moscow, we will face Rangers next.

  8. I know 2nd PL will get tougher but I still had high hopes we can replicate the success of last season. We actually had a perfect start with 4 wins in a row and a 3-1 win against Roma in our Europe debut! After that things going downhill.

3 points in 7 league games, only 2 wins are against Qarabag in EL, and we also missed our chance to qualify from the group stage, we had to fight for at least a point in our last game away in Moscow.

    1.png.85f3f8e919c744c10701c144b82860e1.png

We still sits midtable thanks to the early wins. Good news is that board expectations are low, so we still have time to turn things around...

    2.png.d482650c8ec3a31afca782d22d38ec4a.png

However, looking at the fixture next month, things are only gonna get worse before it gets better, wish me luck.

All things considered, an undefeated start to the campaign and a place among the playoffs is encouraging. The board wants promotion by any means possible but I'm hoping to achieve that without the lottery of the playoffs.

Nice start, Norwich has really strong fundation to build on, in my current save even they are yoyo team currently back in Championship, they still have some really strong original players I can't afford.

Will be following your journey, hoping for auto promotion first season!

  10. Its been a busy transfer window, and its nice not to be interupted by transfer embargo

We spent most of the budget on Ronald Araujo so the rest are most trading of squad players.

    1.thumb.png.2969d20ba1d75b00575278678c67d3ca.png

    Most notable signings:

Our most important signing was towards the end of last season, we paid 20m (potentially goes to 27m) for Araujo from Barca, who was on loan last season, our absolutely backbone in the defence.

    3.png.4bd6dbd9f882eca50cb3fda9f69fb6e3.png

We also somehow got Phil Foden on loan, its crazy Man City would put him on loan list, although his wage is on higher end, I think its a no brainer since we have no chance nor budget to buy someone of his calibar.

    2.png.3044c5b45011b1e9531f653fadba21ac.png

And this one is probably my best signing so far in this save, a media certified wonderkid on a free transfer, we are very lucky to sign him since no other team even put a bid. Could be the core of our team for next 10+ years.

    4.png.cf8fd410d7eb622f0908ad9337fd6df6.png

  11. What an incredible end to the season! We stood up to the pressure and win 3-2 against Brighton in an away game. We could easily end up out of top 7 in the end. FA cup final is between Chelsea and Tottenham, so that means we should be in Europa League instead of the new Conference cup, really excited to bring Pompey back to Europe.

Elsewhere, Chelsea really want to win the league with 8-0 against Southampton (another plus for us ), they had an incredible unbeaten run 2nd half of the season with 16 wins and 3 draws, well deserved.

@dastrokes88 A really impressive season there. I only took Reading up one league and am really struggling much more than that.

Thanks, I think the fixture helped me a lot, we don't have any long losing streak, the games against top teams are not that spread out but we can always bounced back against weaker teams. Also I basically threw the cup games (both out first round), turned out to be good decision.

Also I don't assume everything will have 50m budget after getting promoted, I know pl money is crazy but still...

  13. @hasdgfas Yeah, I'm more than happy for the results, I would never image the wins against likes of Man Utd and Man City in my first PL season!

So here is the update before the final push of the season, we faced 4 of the big 6 in this month, although Arsenal is not that competitive this season, and we took an important win against them.

The battle for euro spots is incredibly close with 4 of us on the same points, 3 of us even on same goal difference. We will face 2 of them Newcastle and Brighton, which will be the deciders.

  14. Feb & March

It started well, draw against Liverpool, first win against Southampton (Finally!) and Watford. After that its 3 losses, my longest streak so far, fortunately, we pull a win against Man City, Pep was sacked after the previous game, so they are a little vulnerable. After that we are back in form with 2 comfortable wins.

As for standing we are still in reach for euro spots, but its very close with so many midtable teams, I don't rate our chances highly. Anyway, we should be clear of relegation, that's all that matters in debut season.

  15. Looking forward to the new saves from your guys with the new update, as for me, I think I'm going to stick to my current save until the next update, mainly because its going pretty well.

Back from the world cup, we've been very inconsistent, overall I'm satisfied with our result, except maybe the home game against Bournemouth. We had chance to go 2-0 but missed a penalty.

Good news is that Rodrigo Macedo is gaining his form, scoring in all situations, including a later winner against Leicester.

Half season in, we still sit comfortably in midtable, however very close to europe competitions, in order to push for this, I asked for more budget (PL tv money is ridiculous) and sold some squad players and want to invest some star players for our team.

It's the same issue with most newly promoted team, there are very few players who want to join us even we are performing better than most other PL sides, finally we had to cash out 44m and break our wage structure for this guy.

He's still with Sheffield Utd in Championship, asking to leave, I think its the main reason he wanted to join us to play in division above, in previous two seasons with Sheff Utd in PL, he's performing really well, all we need is some PL experience and quality, is he worth 44m price tag and 50k p/w wage? probably not. But I think he's one of the best available options for us. Anyway its definitely better to just sit with 50m budget with no one to spend on. Very excited for the second half of the season.

  16. So here is the result before the 2022 WC break.

    1.png.77a6787db1051236f3819c5c09667962.png

We got 2 important wins against Blackburn and Burnley, could've been three but we throw the match away, twice...

    3.png.6d3a656321a1a99f43d2bc538f9d4357.png

10 points clear of the relegation zone, we should be optimistic about our chance staying up. Our rival Southampton is also having a good time, they were 17th the last two seasons.

    2.png.24f45c490cb813120f84782424c80c51.png

We have only 2 players called up for WC, Ronald Araujo and Vandevoordt, only Ronald Araujo would be starter for Uruguay, so maybe we will have some advantages against other teams have more call-ups.

Also I don't want Vandevoodt to get any international caps since I have the clause to increase his wage to 40000 p/w (from 20000 p/w) after 5 caps, so I will be rooting for Courtois for this reason .

  17. 2nd month in and we are having some immense results, including a last minute winner against Wolves and a win against Man Utd! Its really a wonderful feeling when your newly signed young players performing well against the best teams in the world already. Although we got completed dominated the next one against Man City, the scoreline made it closer than it seems.
