Exactly! That's what prompted this post. I've just switched to a new tactic, used it for the first time and had one chance in the first half to have a look at it and that's it.

It's good to see a lot of unnecessary stuff has been removed from extended highlights, but I'm barely getting anything to watch now. I can play a game and only have one highlight to watch in the first half, despite being on extended, and despite there being 8/9 shots across both teams.
Could extended highlights not have a bit more added to them? I feel like I'm barely seeing any of the game at the moment.
I know I could move up to comprehensive but in previous years extended was perfect for normal games, with comprehensive being nice for cup finals and to get a better look at new tactics.

Think Elliot Anderson at Newcastle should have a bit of an upgrade. He's now training with the Newcastle first team (regularly in photos on their website), has been on the bench in the Carabao Cup and is one of the best players in PL 2 Division 2, all while still being eligible for their U18s team. He clearly has a lot of potential and Newcastle rate him highly so this should be reflected in the game. He's also a Scotland U19 international.
He's also signed a new contract until 2024, probably on a first team wage now. More proof of how highly he's rated at the club too.

A lot of bugs that get fixed on updates are often save game compatible, so you're usually fine to start your main save on the beta.

Just wondering if anyone has seen an up to date database, including all summer 2020 transfers but with future transfers? Rather than the players already at their new clubs.
I'd like to start a game and play out the 2019/20 season, then have the real transfers happen in summer 2020.

Just finished my fourth season at Arsenal. Another great campaign in the league, holding off a very strong challenge from Spurs. Didn't do great in the domestic cups, losing on pens in both of them, but with very much a second string team. Lost in the Champions League final for the 3rd time 😭 This time to AC Milan on penalties also, following a last minute equaliser from them to take it to extra time. Heartbreaking really as this is the one trophy I wanted to win this season to complete the set.
On a positive note, Ansu Fati was sensational throughout the season. He won the golden boot in the Premier League and also took home both the PFA & FWA Footballer of the Year awards 👏🏻 He also broke Thierry Henry's record of 39 goals in a season in all competitions, managing 41 - which from left wing is quite brilliant and he was truly unplayable at times. I lost count of the amount of hat tricks he got in the Premier League!
I do think this may be the end of my time at Arsenal. I've won everything twice domestically and the only thing missing now is the Champions League which we just can't seem to win. There's a few jobs available abroad that I fancy going for but hard to tell if I'd be in with a chance. If I do leave, I wouldn't rule out a return to the Gunners to hopefully win that elusive European trophy that we crave.

Managed 40 games when I went the season unbeaten (had lost on final day of previous season and 3rd game of the following season). then crossing over the middle of 2 seasons managed 47 games, losing to Liverpool at Anfield. Still, at least I knocked them out of the Champions League.
I didn't think I'd beat it to be honest, we had some tough games towards the end of that season and a few of the draws were from us scoring late goals. I've never really had a team that can come up with something when needed as well as my current group can. Even in the Champions League final they were so close to coming back again in extra time and really should have won it with the penalty.
Must have been tough to reach 47 and then lose but that's still an incredible run

Just come so close to a perfect season with Arsenal in 2026/27 - the quadruple and an unbeaten league season. Valencia beat me in the final of the Champions League, in what was a real rollercoaster of a game. I was jumping around my living room when we equalised to take it to extra time! Similar to @llama3 above, only one team was trying to win and unfortunately got done on the counter a couple times.
We also had a goal disallowed for offside in the 119th minute which would have taken it to penalties. Cohen had missed a few penalties for me in the past 2 seasons and I had relegated him to 5th taker. But of course as he was on a hat trick and I still had that box ticked, he took it. Bit of an error from me, on the biggest stage of all! But oh well, it was a chance for him to be a hero and I'm not sure anyone has ever managed that in a Champions League final before.
I'd managed a domestic treble the season before too, knocked out by Liverpool in the Champions League quarter final after going down to 10 men early in the 2nd leg. Considered my future a bit after the Valencia game, having won everything but the Champions League twice, but Atletico was the only big job available so I decided to stay at the club for at least one more season. The project now is to try to mould the team back into a shape involving wingers, rather than the 4-1-2-1-2 diamond that I've been using for the past 2 seasons.
Our unbeaten run in the league has meant we've broken the original invincibles record of 49. We're currently on 51 which will of course lead into the next season. It was another reason I wanted to stay, to see how far I could take that record and try to set something that perhaps will never be beaten! Proud to have built what I'd imagine people would call 'Invincibles 2.0', having started my career at Coventry in League One! Not something I expected to happen in this save.

Haven't been following this thread but currently at Arsenal on my save. What has happened to the stadium on other people's games?
I had a news item at one point mentioning planning permission for an expansion of the Emirates had been blocked by the council, but then nothing since then and the option to discuss it with the board has never appeared.
Have people managed to expand the stadium? Or is it locked at 60,000?

I was Leeds manager at the time and I think I gave them a break (the ones not playing in the World Cup). Then had 2 weeks of training, followed by 3 weeks of friendlies. I played 3 friendlies, one per week leading up to our first game back which was 27th of December. It seemed to work ok as we battered Tottenham in that game.
I think the problems come during the run-in when you have two games a week for the majority of the 2nd half of the season. Luckily I wasn't in Europe but if you are it may be very difficult to keep players fully fit for every game. You're going to have to rotate and potentially prioritise certain games/competitions.

Think you might be right.
I'm sure in previous games I've had news items regarding the bidding process and who's in the running, same with Champions League & Europa League final venues. That must have been removed from the game.

Does anyone know when in-game the host for the 2030 World Cup is confirmed?
Currently in March 2026 and I haven't seen any news on it.
Also, anyone past this date, where has it been hosted on your saves?

Perhaps I could try Aloisio on CF (Support) then? It seems like he'd still be able to do this pretty well.
I have a more conservative tactic for harder away games which is more counter based, so playing them both on attack when using that could work. But my main tactic will always involve short passing, it's just purely what I feel is the best way to play in real life like many managers do. As you said in a previous post, this shape isn't ideal for possession and I've seen that in the games I've played so far, but I've only gone with this shape due to the circumstances. It's more than likely next season I will change again when I can recruit for other positions and possibly move one or two of my central midfielders on.
I tried to do the roles as best I could, and it's been ok but there's always room for improvement I feel. I think the setup is generally ok, I could perhaps just be better at putting players on certain sides, or having players closer to each other that will link up well.

I meant that the game suggests that's their strongest role I guess. Here are their profiles:

I did try to select my team instructions with that in mind, so that if I change mentality it makes a fairly subtle change to these rather than anything drastic. I don't know if you feel like I've achieved this or not? But it seems to be working ok so far.

Also, I don't see why do you think that focusing play through the middle seems "fairly obvious"? If you want to play possession football, it's reasonable to assume that your team is good enough and hence likely to dominate most of its matches. If so, you can logically expect most opponents do defend in a deep, tight and compact fashion - packing the very middle (central) areas in which you want to focus your play. So why would you want to do something that is highly likely to limit your players' attacking options and thus potentially make you struggle to break those defensive opponents down? On top of that, the formation is already narrow. meaning most of your players (except for the fullbacks) are occupying central positions anyway.
I think this is why I wanted to get the discussion going. To get other views and considerations that I may not have thought of, as of course what you're saying makes sense.
I've attached what I ended up going with/creating and it's working pretty well at the moment. I often play on positive at home but keep it balanced when playing away. I also sometimes from the AMC into MC when playing strong teams and add 'defend wider'. I have found that the sides of the diamond, and the outside MC's when playing with a 3, do a decent job at getting out to press the oppositions full-backs when they advance forward. I haven't been caught out in wide areas as much as I thought I would be, but I do have 4 very good full-backs and often dominate possession pretty well.
The only issue I have really at the moment is that both my strikers favour the advanced forward role, so I'm not sure how to play them both. I've tried the deep-lying forward & advanced forward combination, as seen on the screenshot, which seems to work out but seems to compromise the striker that plays in this role. If it works for the team, I'm happy of course but would like to try and find a way to get them both scoring and thriving if possible. Perhaps I don't have the right players to do this, I need to recruit for a deep-lying forward, but they're 2 very talented players that I'd hope would be able to create a good partnership.
Does anyone have a good way of getting the best out of 2 strikers and what roles provide a good scoring partnership?

Just to set the scene for this topic slightly: I'm currently managing Arsenal in the 2024/25 season and we've recently been taken over (on the day of the Carabao Cup final which we then lost, far from ideal!). I survived the rumours of being replaced by Steven Gerrard and once the board confirmed I was staying, they subsequently launched offers for Ryan Gravenberch & Ilaix Moriba - both central midfielders. And as anyone who's had this happen to them in their game knows, you can't cancel the offers or the transfers. Moriba was actually my best player at my former club Leeds so I'm quite happy about that one, but Gravenberch I just didn't need. He is however a great player so I won't complain, especially as the money didn't come from my transfer budget!
So now due to my abundance of central midfielders, I'm considered playing a 4-1-3-2 or a 4-4-2 diamond next season in order to fit most of my key players into the team. Before I do so I just wanted to get people's thoughts on playing with these systems and any success or problems people may have had from doing so.
These were the instructions I was thinking of for a 4-1-3-2 or 4-1-2-1-2:
In Possession
Shorter passing - I want to play good, possession based football so this is a non-negotiable for me really.
Play out of defence - I want us to build from the back and play through the diamond, until we can involve the wing backs higher up the pitch.
Focus play through the middle - Seems a fairly obvious one for this shape, but at the same time I want to involve my wing backs in play so I'm not totally sure on this.
Hit early crosses - Again, not totally sure on this one but I'm thinking I want my wing backs to cross whenever they can - rather than feeling like they have to reach the byline and then have a long way to recover.In Transition
Not sure if I need anything here, potentially just counter to utilise our 2 strikers and taking advantage of any 2v2's that occur against the opposition centre backs.
Out of Possession
Higher defensive line - I want condense the space the opposition have to play in, particularly with the numbers we have in midfield to try and win the ball back.
More urgent pressing - I want to put pressure on the ball and stop the opposition getting down the sides of the diamond and creating overloads against my full-backs.I have some ideas on player roles based on what I want from my team. I think the full-backs will need to be wing backs, and the DMC as a half-back for when the wing backs push on so high. Has anyone had any experience of this?
Basically just keen to hear what everyone thinks about these systems. Do those instructions look ok? Is there anything I should add or take away?
@Experienced Defender - Would be good to hear your thoughts too mate, as you've helped me in the past. And I remember reading you had a successful diamond formation on FM19 with Man United. What made that work so well?

I'll give it a go, thanks. I generally just want the centre-backs to feed the ball into the midfield without trying anything too fancy. I suppose two central defender roles are best for that.

What sort of shape have you been playing mate?
I started out with a 4-3-3 but struggled for creativity in midfield (admittedly didn't try Freeman in centre mid!), so I've gone for a 4-2-2-2 with Knockaert/Lolley & Freeman/Ameobi on the wings. Mighten has played a bit on both sides too as his form has been brilliant at times! Seems to suit the players more though.
