  1. Mid-Season Report

Well I thought I would pop and give an update on how my second season using the tactic is going and I am very happy with it at the moment. After 19 games in the Premier League I sit in 4th place and have suffered just two defeats in those games whilst winning 11 and drawing six. I main leading scorers in the division with 51 goals and have conceded 21. I have beaten the likes of Spurs (2-1 Away), Man Utd (3-1 Home), Man City (4-0 Away) along with a few high scoring games away from home when beating Fulham 6-2, Birmingham 5-2 and Aston Villa 5-1. I am conceding quite a few goals but I am scoring a lot which means I am winning matches.

My central striker has got 11 goals and 8 assists, the right handed striker has 14 goals and 3 assists and my left handed striker only has 6 goals but 13 assists.

In the Cup after reaching the final of the Carling Cup in my first season I am on route to achieving that once again but first of all I have a two legged semi final against Newcastle to get through.

I have lost one of my strikers for 8 months so I have been forced to use some of my transfer budget on bringing in a new striker and Gaston Fernandez will be joining in January but other than that I do not see any need of using anymore of the money because I have confidence in my squad although I will be forced at the end of the season to make some changes because a few of my players are getting on a bit. Having said that I may look into getting in a right back in January as mine has been struggling a bit of late.

I am still giving all players a 2 day rest after each game to keep their fitness up and I have been fairly lucky with injuries again, I have been using my backup players in the Carling Cup.

I am very happy with how things are going and I will be back to update you at the end of the season!

    Halfway Table.jpg

  2. It is early on in my second season using the tactic but thought i would give an update. Sold a few fringe players or players who wanted more first team football and managed to get a total of £4.4m for them and i got in four new players and four loan signing costing a total of £8.25m.

The new players that i have got in are all backups which means i am still using my first choice eleven from the year before and i could not of asked for a better start to the season, Friendlies were a nightmare and i had some bad results which i was slightly worried about but i should not of worried. Five game into the new season and sit proudly unbeaten at the top of the Premier with four wins and one draws. I have beaten Spurs (Away), Man Utd (Home), Fulham (Away) and Reading (Home) whilst i drew my first game against Villa. I have scored 16 goals (6 against Fulham) and conceded 6. Below is the table and some of the games.

  3. Have you made any tweaks to the tactic? If not, can you post a link of which tactic you used, would love to try this out mate.

I have not made any tweaks to his tactic at all. I am using the tactic below and used the player filters to find the right players.

Player Filters This is Much Easier there all set at 13 which is the basic Minimum for Prem and Championship teams knock it down slightly for Lower Leagues.

    Pitch Size: Minimum.

  4. Ok so i have completed my first season using this tactic in FM2011 and i have had great success. I won the Championship with Ipswich, scored 113 goals and conceded 48 and accumulated a total of 105 points from 33 wins, 6 draws and 7 defeats and finished 23 points clear of the second placed team Reading.

    Final League.jpg

I also had success in the Carling Cup having got the final, on route to the final i beat Yeovil, Fulham, Newcastle, Swansea, Bristol City and Birmingham. I played Chelsea in the final and lost 4-1 but to reach the final was a great result.

    Final CC.jpg

I also had some success in the FA Cup, Beat Reading after a replay and then went to Old Trafford to beat Manchester Utd 3-2 after making a comeback with 10 men, then beat Birmingham and Hartlepool in the quarters but once again came up against Chelsea in the semi and lost just 2-1.

    Final FA.jpg

So i won the league by 23 points and scored in excess of 100 goals and got two Wembley visits so for me that is a more than successful first season. I ended the season with a total of five players scoring 10 or more goals, the middle striker ended up with 31 goals and 15 assists, my two other strikers got 14 and 16 goals, the central midfielder got 18 goals and one of my centre backs got a very impressive 15 goals! I had a few injuries but nothing serious so was quite lucky on that front.

    Final Squad.jpg

I believe the key to the success was keeping players fit, the training schedule i used was not too much of a workload on the players and after every single match i gave all players 3 days off, yes this is going to be a disadvantage on player progress but having fully fit players was my main aim and because of that i had success and this also cut out injuries so i believe it was a good move. The training schedule which i used is the one below.

    http://kneadthedough.co.uk/FM2011/Training for Mr Hough.tsh

All in all i am very happy with my first season and now the real challenge begins in the Premier League which i expect to be a very lot tougher and i will be aiming for mid-table.

  5. Work in fm11?

I have been struggling to find a tactic for FM2011 so i decided to go back to this tactic which i had so much success with in FM2010. The tactic which i am using is the one above and all my main players (ie. starting eleven) have at least twelve in all areas needs for each position from Mr Hough's Player Filter (Above) and all of my first team squad has at least ten/eleven in all areas needed. I have been fairly impressed with it so far, ok it is not as dominant as in FM2010 but it is fairly consistent. I am currently Ipswich and i spent £2.7m on new players and got in £3m from player sales, i have five loan players in my squad too. The beginning of the season was very inconsistent, i would win/lose/win/lose but as the team got used to the formation i have now gone 19 unbeaten and won the last 8 on the trot! I am currently 2nd in the league and 4 points behind Reading, in the Carling Cup semi final against Birmingham.

I do not use any shouts, I let my Assistant Manager do all team talks, match preparation and Opposition instructions.

I am using the smallest pitch possible but my players still get very tired which has resulted in me giving the players 2-3 days off after every match but this has done wonders for the results and i would really suggest doing this whichever tactic you are using.

    Results.jpg

  6. Just setting up corner defending, My teams have been crap at defending corners so i'm having a quick look at it. Shouldn't be too long now

I hope you all are looking forward to the tactic i think it will be great.

I am looking forward to it! Never been able to find/create a decent tactic with wingers and have always wanted one! Been using your various tactics since they have been released and very much looking forward to the new one!

  7. I am using your most recent tactic (Mr Hough & JP Woody) and i am having great results with Ajax. Sold a few players ang got in players with at 13 in all areas needed. In the league i have played 13 and won 12 of those with 1 draw, the most impressive stat is the goals, i have scored 48 and conceded just 2! Unbelievable start to the season. I have won both Champions League Best Placed Playoffs, beat Dinamo Moscow 3-1 & 2-0 and beat Fenerbahce 3-1 & 1-0, in the group stages i beat Unirea Urziceni 4-1, Roma 4-2 and then drew with Bayern Munich 0-0 at home but lost 2-0 at Bayern which is my one and only defeat to date. In the league i have won 7-0 and 5-0 three times! Got Mutu on a free and he is banging in the goals playing on the right side of the three strikers.

Anyway my question is about when getting players sent off! My fullbacks like getting some time off and both have now been sent off twice! What is the best position to sacrifice when you get someone sent off? I have been pulling off either the left or right sided striker, would you reccommend this or would you go with a different position?

  8. th_Capture_001-1.jpg

As you can see my 1st season the premier league has started off superbly!! I am the only remaining team unbeaten and i sit in 2nd place. Beat Bolton 5-1, Liverpool 3-2, Hull 2-1, Arsenal 3-0 and have won my last 2 games 3-1 against Man City and Everton both away from home.

    th_Capture_002.jpg

I improved my squad using the filter i created, sold most players who only had 10 for all the attributes needed and got in players with 12 for all. Signed Diaby & Vela from Arsenal who were both transfer listed, payed £3.1m for Diaby and £3.2m for Vela. Also got Darron Gibson who was released from Man Utd and signed Thierry Henry was was available on a free and is a good backup striker.

All in all i am very happy with this tactic and hope my season continues to go well. I am using the BETA tactic.

    th_Capture_001-2.jpg

Well i finished the season off with a 7th placed finish which in my first season in the Premier league i was very happy with, once again pretty much like the first season i really struggled in the last 10 games of the season and this is where allot of my loses came from. I also won the League Cup which means i am looking forward to a season in Europe. This season i have got rid of some fringe players to try and build a stronger squad. I have got in Drogba on a free and also Gignac on a free, both were without clubs, Drogba will be used as a squad player whilst Gignac goes into the first team in place of Walters. Also got in Padoin as a 3rd choice midfielder and Nelson Oliveira as a backup striker. I have replaced Helder Rosario with Joao Pereira. Apart from that its basically the same team as last year.

I have now changed from the BETA to V2 for the new season and will let you know how i get on. I have only played two games which were against LASK in the Qualifying round for the EURO Cup and i beat them 3-1 and 3-0.

  9. Well the season is over and i have won the Championship with 111 points, scored 104 and conceded just 36 goals! Remarkable defence but up by scoring plenty. I did have a sticky patch around January when i was hit by injuries! I have 7 players out injured and they were all my strikers!! I had to play some of my U18 strikers because all my reserves were out on loan but they did a job and i would of been better off but i think my players decided to break for the end of the season a tad early and i lost three of my last five games! My three main strikers scored 67 goals between them and my central defender ended up with 13 goals.

  10. I patched the game so thought i would give this tactic a go and i love it! I am Ipswich in 2011 and so far so good, i currently sit top of the league with 18 wins from 20 games scored 54 and only conceded 12. I only kept about 7 or 8 of the current squad and brought in the rest. I set up filters going by the recommendations on the tactic screen where it highlights the attributes needed for each position and all my players have at least 10 for all needed. I will add my filters to this post incase anyone wants to use it. I am on an amazing run of 15 straight wins which i have never achieved in this copy of the game! And in those 15 games i have kept 10 clean sheets. The three forwards have 34 goals between them but my leading goalscorer is my Defender!! With 11 goals lol

I leave the teamtalks and OI to my assistant manager and i do not use any shouts.

This is a link to my players filters, basically i do not buy anyone who has less than 10 in all needed attributes and anyone in my squad with less than 10 i have sold. This is Championship level so i would probably up that to 12 for Premiership and lower if in lower leagues.

Here is a picture of my 15 league games won on the trot. I went out of the cup on penaltys to Fulham after being 2-0 up and then down to 9 men! They scored 2 late on and then beat me on penaltys. Doncaster don't like me either lol scored 5 goals in both matches against them.

Anyway the tactic has been superb so and i will report back at the end of the season with how it finished off.

  11. So after using the Pirahna V6 convert for FM2010 in my first season and finishing 8th i have decided to give your 2010 tactic and i have been having much better results with it.

    League.png

As you can see im currently sitting in 2nd place behind run away leaders Hull. The key for me is the low number of goals which i am conceding, although i am not exactly scoring bucket loads but you don't need to when conceding so few.

    GoodRun.png

I went on a cracking little run with this formation also.

  12. Im currently using the Version 6 of the Piranha with FM2010, loved it so much with 09 that i have i am still using it. Obviously you cannot use the same file but i have just copied over all the instructions in 2010. Im playing with Ipswich and after 32 games im currently 6th, played 32 won 14 drawn 9 lost 9. I think with abit of tweaking this can still be a quality tactic in this game. I did switch to your new tactic but lost 4-0 twice on the trot so switch back and have won the last two 4-0 (Cardiff) and 3-1 (Peterborough). Will let you know how i end up at end of season.

  13. I have been using the Pirahna tactic and it worked wonders in my first season, i am manager of Ipswich and i managed to finish 3rd in the league on 99 points, Newcastle got 116 and Middlesboro 108 but i was successful in the playoffs and got promoted.

    th_Capture_006.jpg

My first season in the premiership i set about the task of keeping the tractorboys in the Premiership which i thought would of been alot harder than it was, i made a few new signings looking for players with the attributes needed for each position and i was proud of my team for finishing the season in 9th place.

    th_Capture_007.jpg

The home record was fantastic with 15 wins, 1 draw and just 3 defeats and i was the 2nd most top home scorers in the league! Would of liked to have conceded a few less but i aint moaning about my home form.

    th_Capture_009.jpg

The problem i had and from reading alot of people are having is my away form! Just 3 wins and 3 draws and a terrible 13 defeats. The main problem was conceding way too many, i finished up conceding 42 goals away from home which was the 3rd worst in the league and that included a couple of 5-0 defeats to Liverpool & Middlesboro.

    th_Capture_008.jpg

Overall im pleased with the tactic and with abit of tweaking can start to get a few more points away from home in my 3rd season, so far from 3 away games i have drawn 2 and lost 1 but most importantly i feel my squad is stronger now so hopefully i can better last season.

In the meantime if anyone comes up with something decent to use away from home let me know! I have tried tweaking the mentallity & tempo to no success.
