  1. Good thread. Started one today based on it after pondering. Early days though. Don’t get too many fouls like I thought I would. I set more crossing on PI’s and brought Poulsen in for his aerial abilities. 80 min upwards I’ll drop Counter and add time wasting, slow pace down and be more disciplined. Goals come from bother strikers and both wingers. Nothing else yet to report. I agree a lot with the last post, it’s not pure Route One. But I see enough of what I want to carry on.
  2. Loads of “what ifs” depending on formations etc tbf. But generally due to players at my disposal (I rarely play outside of favourite teams) I usually go F9 with IFa and CMa or SS. Sometimes the striker and SS work better asymmetrical with the IF. However I have had success with an AF, I just go more conservative on the left and down the middle. It seems to even out with movement.
  3. In a 433 I find an IF on A works as my second striker, especially with traits to cut inside/get in to the box etc. Or even an IW on A can work. Just make sure you have someone covering behind to support that side. Personally I like a Carrilero and then a WB/FB on support/defence.
  4. As a general rule with Passing 10 or under I pass short, and 15 or more I pass more direct/more risky passes
  5. Wondering if there are common denominator roles and duties people use in their tactics. And what instructions are your go-tos. Obviously we all have different formations. But do you live by certain rules? (Note this is control possession, so its not always attack attack attack when we have the ball). I want to know peoples opinion on things such as can you have too many playmakers? Ignore BPD? More success with a box formation as oppose to triangles? Always play out of defence, keep it narrow and work ball into box? Things like that.
  6. Sounds like you’re playing a team comprising of Jimmy Saville, Gary Glitter and co.
  7. Does setting a low/medium/high season bonus matter other than giving a few players a little more incentive?
  8. I know it sounds a bit backwards in what I’m asking but it’s hard to describe. I want to create a tactic that is counter attacking but more patient with choosing their attacks (not necessarily less direct - I’m a big fan of my players making runs). Think David Moyes current type of style, but not sitting THAT deep and trying to be at least a smidgen of entertaining. My initial thoughts are mid block and possibly a 5-2-3, Narrow 433 or even a 442/4411. But open to suggestions. Generally I’m a fan of balanced mentality but I haven’t had much success on anything less than Attacking on this FM24. Any advice or tips would be good. Bosh Wants:- Not a low block Lots of dribbling No passing style preferred
  9. Every FM I try and make a 4141 (I don’t know why I just love the formation) work but I shoot myself in the foot as I hate lots of TI. I think I usually fail as I’m not keen going above positive either, but with that shape the mentality probably makes all the difference, whatever roles I use. If yours works that’s great. One assumes the 2 CM work well together otherwise you wouldn’t use them.
  10. Re: ckeys I don’t understand which option I choose. Steam yes, but ultimately does it matter if I choose EU or WW? PC Steam EU PC Steam WW Multiplatform
  11. What kind of football would be best suited to the 'Run at defence' TI? I know there's probably more than one answer but I was thinking counter attacking. Does anyone use it to benefit their style?
  12. I can’t get over the fact your striker seems to look almost offside in the first couple but never gets pulled up on it. My players are rubbish at that. Does he like to beat the offside trap?
  13. I’m having a good go at it later but had a play last night just before bed (and on chatGPT). I was asking about 442, Catenaccio, Counter Attacking, but not getting into too much depth with auxiliary questions yet. Seriously though, it does seem to throw out good ideas. However I find it strange it keeps suggesting the same 4 man midfield for me as it does you, despite being a different formation and style. I would argue it’s uncommon we see Wide Midfielders suggested by humans. This makes me wonder if in some ways it’s close to a script (For eg a 4 man midfield with only 1 or 2 ahead of it is likely a defensive or counter style so the roles suggested will almost always be similar) But honestly so far it does generally come up with great suggestions that are a good basis to start with as I believe@Cleon said. I’m looking forward to trying it again.
  14. Trying something completely different that I’ve never done. Any tips would be nice. What I Want I want a flat 532. So even though I love full backs normally, wing backs may be the way forward. Counter Attacking football is the aim, but stopping goals always takes priority over that. I was thinking a balanced mentality. If I went with a target man I was going to send passes to him. Make all good passers play more direct and bad passers short. And do the same with crossing/shooting too (Less/More). What I Have One very good striker capable of TF, CF and AF His partner would most likely would be F9, DLF or AF. Left WB/FB would be a waste not to have on attack. I have the perfect midfield 3, one great attacker, one defence and one support. I was going to keep them all as general CM but open to suggestions.
  15. I’ve been tinkering with my usual 4141, 4411 and 442 but without consistent results. On FM23 a 442 or 441 with 2DM does seem to pack a good punch in comparison generally speaking.
  16. I found Wide Midfielders tend to to come inside a lot. obviously even more so with the "Cuts inside" trait.
  17. If my AF is getting caught offside a lot will training him to beat the offside trap help or is it more down to his attributes?
  18. I understand if you don’t want to share it but I love seeing the 442 ones each season.
