  1. END OF SEASON Can we sneak into the playoffs? Results 8 points from 5 isn't bad but it had to be better at this stage of the season, we snuck past Boro but fell to defeat against playoff rivals Birmingham. We managed to batter Newcastle and came from 3-0 down to get a draw at Brighton before a very disappointing draw against Reading, so where does that leave us? If Coventry lose then a win will get us into the playoffs. Problem is we're playing Leicester who need a draw to go up. Can we do it? So close! Middlesbrough managed to beat Coventry who went down to 10 men in the 20th minute, we lead Leicester and should have won by 2 or 3 but succumbed to a 96th minute equaliser after 4 minutes were added on ********. League Table So close
  2. MARCH The playoff chase is very much on Results What a month! 5 wins from 5 as the side properly start to gel with the tactic. Ipswich put up more resistance than expected but Colgan managed to put the key chances away before an excellent turnaround just before half-time against Wednesday before another through Warren put the cherry on the cake. Sunderland were then absolutely battered by a wonderful Bah performance. We then went to my old flame Wigan and played them off the park, bringing Max Dean on late in the game to really rub the salt in the wound. Lowly Fulham were then dispatched with ease. Game of the month Stoke City 4-0 Sunderland What an excellent performance from Bah who's usually only a benchwarmer Player of the month Patrick Colgan Another god month from Colgan League Table 6 games left and just 3 points off! Other news Not bad
  3. FEBRUARY The squad is set, the assault on the playoffs begin now Results A poor start to the month was saved by the final two games. An ok draw away at Coventry was followed by last minute heartbreak as one of our rejects scored a 91st minute winner. We went to Sheffield and came back from 2 goals down to salvage a draw before another 2-2 draw saw us lose a 2-0 lead ourselves to succumb to a draw. We then went to London and put in our best performances of the month to overcome West Ham by 3 goals before rounding out the month with a 2-1 win against Portsmouth Game of the month West Ham United 0-3 Stoke City Another great performance against West Ham as we smash in 3 goals in our trip to London Player of the month Isaac Kabiru 4 goals in a month for a defender is pretty special League Table Just 8 points off the playoffs
  4. JANUARY A solid start to my reign at Stoke and a transfer window with a bit of money. I like it. Transfers Out We got rid of the players I didn't want and brought in a far bit of cash. Kwon Sang-Jun and Iker Aketxe didn't fit into the system. Walsh, Todd, Rawlings and Lennon were either too old or not good enough while Jones was a prospect that everyone wanted and Norwich got. Ins Let's meet some of them I wanted Warren when I was at Wigan so it made sense to bring him to Stoke to fill in a position where there was a dearth of players David Llewelyn Hughes Cheap backup Andrew Paterson We desperately needed midfielders, especially ones who fit into the system I wanted to play. Paterson fits that Kosta Zlatkovic Very cheap and good enough to challenge for the number 1 shirt Aidan Buchan We raided Hearts' midfield. It was a good midfield Dario Simons His contract was expiring, we got him on a pre contract deal and then we were offered him for cheap. Good times Max Dean The prodigal son returns! Results Two poor results kicked off the month as we lost 2-1 to Villa and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Premier League West Brom. We went to London and returned with 3 points as our new players started to gel, battering Leeds just to show that off. A solid win against Colchester finished the month Game of the month Stoke City 6-1 Leeds United The squad are gelling to the tactic and I'm loving it. Player of the month Aidan Buchan A very solid first month from part of our Hearts contingent League Table Playoff hunt?
  5. DECEMBER A first month in a new job, hopefully it goes well Results A decent first month in Staffordshire as we pick up 12 points. An ok start against Wednesday was followed by back to back away wins as we went to the North East and North West, picking up 6 points from slender 1 goal wins. We hosted West Ham and youngster Flint grabbed his first goal for the club to grab a 95th minute equaliser. The reverse happened away at Reading as they equalised in the 93rd minute to deny us victory. Another disappointing result as we succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Wrexham before righting it away at Oxford, winning 2-1. Game of the month Stoke City 3-3 West Ham United Two late equalisers and a local boy grabbing his first for the club. Fun times. Player of the month Ricky Brock 5 goals from 5 games League Table We're hunting Wigan
  6. NOVEMBER Some big decisions to make this month, as a lucrative job offer came in... At the end of the month, Wigan are sitting pretty at the top of the league after winning 3 and drawing 1. Beating Portsmouth, Newcastle and Sheffield United. Drawing against West Ham. I was offered an interview at Stoke. Went to the interview. Was offered the job. On the face of it, its no contest. Wigan are top of the league and Stoke are 18th. Wigan all day? But Stoke offer something extra, actual facilities. Stoke, apparently, have the best facilities in the world for some reason and are offering quite an easy path. They just want to avoid relegation and are offering a sizeable budget to achieve this Wigan, at the moment, are just a team. No real backup, no money, no decent facilities and a small stadium. Stoke have facilities, money and a decent sized stadium. And they're offering me a pay rise. Lets compare the finances I made the right choice. Some very solid facilities from their Premier League days with Stoke in the top flight just 3 years ago, and this is reflected in a decent squad Some very solid players all over the pitch makes this look like a promising job
  7. OCTOBER I don't understand Results Another pretty good month as we record league and cup wins. A poor performance on the South coast saw us lose to promotion chasing Brighton. This defeat seemed to inspire something incredible though as we smashed 7 past Coventry at the DW Stadium. Strugglers Ipswich nicked a draw away in Suffolk before we hammered Fulham despite having a man sent off in the first half. We were on the receiving end of a huge scoreline as we were batter 5-2 by Birmingham City before cup progression as we beat Norfolk's premier club 1-0 in the League Cup Game of the month Wigan Athletic 7-3 Coventry City What a display of goalscoring Player of the month Max Dean A wonderful human being League Table Down in second Other news I've had some interviews and some big clubs are circling. Blackburn, Newcastle and Stoke are all interested. What do I do?
  8. SEPTEMBER Can we back up that fantastic start? Results Indeed we can! What a fantastic month as we record a 100% month, winning all 5 games quite easily. A big 4-1 win at Colchester went with the big 5-1 win at Colchester at the end of last season, does that mean we're worse of they've gotten better? We then went away to Stoke and needed an own goal to edge past them before eradicating any creeping doubts by hammering Sheffield Wednesday 3-0. Penalties were needed to edge past Watford in the League Cup and another penalty was needed to beat Blackburn, are we slipping? Game of the month Wigan Athletic 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday Another fantastic performance. Look at the stats, crazy! Player of the month Ben Francis About time a defender won this award League Table I don't understand what's happening
  9. AUGUST There's some proper clubs in this division. Aston Villa, Sunderland, Leeds, Newcastle, West Ham, Leicester, Sheffield United. Even the "lesser lights" such as Stoke, Fulham, Birmingham, Coventry, Blackburn are scary. I'm scared. Results No reason to be scared! Wow, what a start! To begin our first campaign back at this level in 16 years away at a club like Villa was daunting, but what we did proved we deserve our place at this level. 4-0. Amazing. A bit strange to follow that up with 3 league draws, especially against a side like Oxford, but draws against the likes of Sunderland and Middlesbrough are welcome. We ended our league fixtures against another giant in Leeds and picked up another 3 points! As this was going on we secured solid progression in the League Cup, easily beating both Chester and Barnsley to reach the 4th Round Game of the month Aston Villa 0-4 Wigan Athletic I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. We went to Aston Villa and didn't just beat them, we destroyed them. Villa, one of the favourites for promotion were roundly dismantled by a rag tag group of loanees, castoffs and teenagers. Local hero Dean got the ball rolling before ex Welsh League player Petty bagged our second. A Luton castoff grabbed our third before loanee Rae got in on the act. Wonderful. Player of the month Sean Rae A very good month from the Manx man League Table What a start
  10. 2040/41 SEASON PREVIEW Another summer with no intentions of leaving the club. I'm enjoying life in Wigan and look forward to our assault on the Championship. Transfers Out No real departures as we begin our assault on the second tier In We spent some big money to try and stay in this league. As wells keeping some familiar loanees. Sean Rae, Rolando Corbyn and Brett Hollis all agreed to stay on Also coming in on loan were Neil Edwards, Omar Gaynor and Ben Francis Now onto the lads we spent money on Adrian Boyle A solid utility player who can cover left back, midfield and left wing Kilian Deans The backup to the excellent Wessel Boeve as we plundered the Irish leagues again Ondrej Kotulek An experienced international for just £1m? Yes please. Wes Wiles Less than a £1m for this guy? Yes please. What we're up against Ah bollocks, we're screwed
  11. SEASON REVIEW 2039/40 Another remarkable season as we managed to come out on top of a high quality League 1. There were some bumps along the way and we do owe our title success to Wrexham's mini implosion, but we still garnered 96 points and 100 goals. Overall, we deserved it. We had the best attack by some distance, scoring 14 more than our nearest challengers and the 3rd best defence, with only Chesterfield (43) and Wrexham (42) conceding fewer than our 44. So it all bodes well for the Championship, right? Awards and stats Max Dean once again won the Player of the Year, winning by a huge margin once again as he garnered 72% of the vote. This was somewhat unfair on top scorer Daryl Petty who only managed 11%. Steven Beale won goal of the season, Mark Newell signing of the season and Max Dean won another award As stated, Daryl Petty was top scorer, banging in 24 goals with Beale in second with 20. Dean got a fantastic rating of 7.56. Petty topped the assist chart as well with Boeve being our best passer. 10 man of the match awards for Dean. He's amazing. Petty and Dean are our two most important players. Yep, pretty much. League awards Manager of the year! Max Dean won ANOTHER award 8 players in the Team of the Year! Review We weren't top for so long, and then suddenly... Budgets and expectations No change, this is just the money from sales Top half? Really!?! Around the leagues Manchester United won the Premier League, with Coventry, Leicester and Brighton going down. Watford, Bristol City and Bournemouth won promotion from the Championship with QPR, Luton and Boston going down. Wigan, Wrexham and Colchester won promotion from League 1 with Plymouth, Fleetwood, Blackpool and Chester going down. Oldham, Preston, Rotherham and Tranmere won promotion from League 2 with Dulwich and Harrogate going down. Ebbsfleet and Port Vale won promotion from the Vanarama National with Guiseley, Bromley, Chelmsford and Barnet going down. Southport, Gateshead, Torquay and Sutton went up to the National League. Tottenham won the FA Cup and the League Cup. In Europe, PSG won the Champions League, Tottenham won the Europa League and Rangers won the Europa Conference League. Hertha Berlin won their 11th consecutive Bundesliga, Real Madrid won La Liga, PSG won Ligue 1 and St Johnstone won their 3rd consecutive Scottish Premiership Merthyr Town Finished 15th in the Vanarama National
  12. APRIL Last month of the season. Here we go. Results 4 aways in our last 5 and we did spectacularly! Goals galore and 4 wins to seal our second consecutive promotion. A huge win away to Grimsby set us on our way before Steven Beale put Mansfield to the sword. We went bak to Wigan for our only home game this money and comfortably dispatched playoff chasing Doncaster. A disappointing draw away to Fleetwood before a massive final day win in Essex as we bagged our 100th league goal of the season Game of the month Colchester United 1-5 Wigan Athletic What a way to end the season, the sun is shining on the south east coast as we smashed 5 past playoff chasing Colchester League Table Champions! Other news Gave me a new contract, I wonder why
  13. MARCH The run in starts here. Results What a month! 4 wins from 5 and unbeaten as we reach the business end of the season. Lots of goals as we begin our assault on promotion and a potential title. A huge win against local rivals and promotion rivals Bolton with Petty bagging a double. New signing Virmondes' goal was cancelled out by a last minute penalty for Rochdale but we picked ourselves up to beat Forest comfortably. Another big away win as some of our reserves played and scored away at Hull before a penalty saw us past Chester with michael Hughes the hero saving their 92nd minute penalty. Game of the month Bolton Wanderers 1-4 Wigan Athletic We love smashing our rivals! Player of the month Daryl Petty He's amazing. League Table Wrexham have overtaken us with 5 to go, but we should be ok for promotion. Other news Youth intake! Not great.
