  1. Quick question I've signed Neal Eardley in the first season for Leeds, and I'm wondering what to do with my free kicks. Technically he has the best free kick attribute in the team (15) He also has 15 for long shots (although 10 for finishing), crossing, 13 for technique, 11 for composure. Not too shoddy considering he's a RB. But he just cannot score a free kick - he seems to always shoot them over the bar (narrowly mind, but even so). He can cross it well, but he just can't score from them. My backroom staff even recommended that I remove him from FK taker? Any ideas? Because I don't understand it at all. Seems to have good attributes, with no return.
  2. I don't claim this to be my idea, but I've just read it from another thread, and it is definitely worth a mention:
  3. OK, to begin with, I've only been playing this game since Xmas Day, so forgive me if any of these suggestions are already included later on in the game. First off, I'd like to congratulate SI on the improvement of Team Reports, in that each report can now be viewed with all the different positions that that particular player can play in. However, I do think that this aspect of the game can still be improved further, to give more flexibility and make it more user friendly: 1. If you were at Arsenal with scouts who have 20/20 on Scouting CA/PA, and asked them to provide a scout report, they would come back with an extremely comprehensive report after just researching that particular player. Say that player was from a L1 club, for example. The coaches there are by no means world class, and their coach report can be very bare and limited. However, regardless of the attributes of each coach/scout, surely if a coach is working with a player day in day out, they will be able to provide an in-depth report? One thing I would advise SI to be aware of are new coaches should only have a limited knowledge of each player for a while, and those coaches who work in the youth team should have a better knowledge of the youth players than the first team coaches. 2. In the weaknesses column of a coach/scout report, I often see that a certain player has a particular named weakness as opposed to 'X doesn't have any weaknesses'. However, I think that each strength and weakness on the reports should be relevant to the position they play in. For example, I've seen as a weakness that 'X is an awful set piece taker'. The player in question was a CB. It's not an important attribute for him, so therefore it wouldn't be a weakness. However, if you were to say he was a magnificent set piece taker, under strengths, that would be relevant as you're being alerted to the fact that this CB is out-of-the-ordinary. Thus, the reports would definitely change if you were to look at a report for a CB as opposed to a ST. 3. I think a useful, and fairly cosmetic feature would be to name the training schedule and the players happiness with the schedule under 'Training' I know you can see that on the training section, but it's an important part of the player and would make it more user-friendly. Also, if a player was learning a new position or a new preferred move, this could be mentioned also. 4. Finally, under 'Recommendation'. I often see 'X has the potential to become a ....'. I have no problem with this, because it's very useful, and it should be kept. However, I do believe if you provide this in a coach/scout report, then you should provide underneath it, the current assessment. For example, under 'Recommendation' say: 'X has the potential to become a ....'--- and then... 'X is currently a ....' / 'X should be considered .... currently'
  4. "No-one can accuse you of lack of commitment" is my present one. I'm on 15 days or so
  5. YES!!!! It worked, thanks for all your help duccio. Just a quick question - does what i have done during this apply the same for skins, etc...? Thanks again
  6. ah, i think i have found the program: The place where my games and this new manager are is: F:\Documents\Games\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008 Whereas the the Folder Location points to F:\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008. I'll just change that destination and I'll post back to tell you if that works
  7. Ah, so it does have the _. My mistake. Funnily I have the second picture on my HD and it has a longer name than the one in my Photobucket. Perhaps the name was too long and Photobucket shortened it without me even noticing. Otherwise I don't know why it has happened. If the name was correct, something else must not be working. You said you have the picture and the config file in F:\Documents\Games\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\graphics\managers. I wonder if this is the correct place. I have the files in C:\Documents and Settings\***\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\Graphics\Managers (*** being my user profile name on my computer). That you have the 2 last folder names beginning with lowercase letters should not matter. Does the F:\Documents\Games\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\ directory contain a folder called "games" (among others)? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Yeah: games, data, db, editor data, jre, links, matches, registration, skins, sounds, and now i have added graphics. It also has the link into the data editor and the game itself and two other files (images i think)
  8. I think it has a _ because that was your second version of the guy, you did two version: the first doesn't have the _, but the 2nd does, does that matter?
  9. that code didn't come out too well, it has all the indents and everything in my document and it is exactly as you posted it.
  10. I'm not sure what is going wrong this is exactly what i have done: <record> <!-- resource manager options --> <!-- dont preload anything in this folder --> <boolean id="preload" value="false"/> <!-- turn off auto mapping --> <boolean id="amap" value="false"/> <!-- logo mappings --> <!-- the following XML maps pictures inside this folder into other positions in the resource system, which allows this folder to be dropped into any place in the graphics folder and still have the game pick up the graphics files from the correct places --> <list id="maps"> <!-- Auto generated by fmXML --> <record from="cristovao_ederson_parreira_schmidt_" to="graphics/pictures/person/1394667511/portrait"/> </list> </record> I have saved this and the picture(which i "saved image as...") into: F:\Documents\Games\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\graphics\managers I have done the settings on the game. I know i am doing something wrong but i'm not sure what. Can you tell what I am doing wrong please. Sorry, I'm really bad at this
  11. hi Duccio, almost got it. But it still isn't loading, I replaced the filename with the whole adress in the address bar. and i replaced all of graphics/person/idnumber/portrait with my id number. I've also saved the image from the link you posted into that folder as well. Any ideas?
  12. and i just save it in my FM folder? Sorry, but i'm not great with computers
  13. Thanks for the pic duccio the bit i'm confused with is how do i find the text editor? Then I should be fine Thanks
