Apologies for the late reply, but I lost him. Ultimately I wasn't too bothered as I got promoted and would've signed an upgrade anyway, but it's the principle.

There's a split opinion on this thread, but I maintain that this is something that would see FIFA/CAS rule in the club's favour and should either be treated as a bug or amended in future editions.

Always re-sign players like that if you want to keep them instead of relying on the extension to kick in.

Yep, definitely learnt that the hard way! I've got one foot in the Championship now so I'd be looking to upgrade him anyway, although he would've been a useful backup.

There was a case of this at our club a few years ago (Kieran Sadlier who signed for Doncaster from Cork City in 2018 for free). Optional extensions are not worth the paper its written on, its the same for match clauses. A contract is a contract end of the day and options are not binding as players are free to move at the end.

On FM, I've made offers for players who had their contracts expiring, but as soon as I made the offer, their parent club triggered the extension so my offer became effectively null and void. Had this been an optional extension, I would've done the same.

However, this wasn't an option, it was an automatic extension based on appearances and survival. If he's able to sign a pre-contract elsewhere before the extension is applied, which makes the automatic  extension redundant, maybe this needs to be rephrased.

Will do. I'm now mathematically safe and the player has made 25 appearances, but I think these are only applied well after the season finishes anyway, around June if I'm not mistaken. I'm expecting him to leave though, based on the previous replies.

I think that "he gets" is optional and his to refuse, its a contractual obligation on the clubs part, not his.

So its his right to say no and I doubt it would even go to CAS.

Bad luck, its not FM its reality. At the end of the day he's an employee with contractual rights on his part as well.

That's simply not true, it's an automatic extension, not an option on the player's part.

Or at least that's how it works in real life, and I've never seen it function differently in FM.

The clause should prevail afair - i had that once and the clause triggered.

Though in the end that was in an older FM version...also the games need probably to be league games only as cup games do not necessarily count.

They do indeed need to be league games, but that isn't an issue. I've already played 27 league games and he has featured in 20, so he's well past the threshold.

Fingers crossed the clause does trigger, because if it doesn't, then it's either a bug or a massive oversight on SI's part.

  5. This has probably been covered elsewhere but a quick search has proved fruitless as the search words are pretty generic.

I've got a situation where one of my best defenders has a clause in his contract where he gets an automatic one-year extension if he plays 10 games and we avoid relegation. Given that we're second in League One in January, we're obviously not going down, and he has already played well over 10 matches, so this obviously will (or should be) applicable. I would've offered him a new contract early in the season had he not had this clause, but because the extension was there, I didn't see much point.

However, in early January, he agreed a pre-contract with a club from Nigeria. Now, in real life, FIFA and CAS (if it got that far) would clearly rule in favour of his current contract with his current club, but this is FM we're talking about here so I have no idea what will happen.

So will the extension get automatically triggered when survival is mathematically confirmed and the pre-contract with the other club annulled, or am I going to lose him?

And this is before taking into account the sheer unrealism of a good League One player signing for a Nigerian club at 24 years of age, and a Nigerian club being prepared to offer a defender with no international caps and very modest career up to now a weekly wage of £5.75k. Such a scenario in real life is unprecedented.

The thing is, often these players IRL still have the ability, it's just their performance level drops off. This can happen within the match engine for players with low professionalism, consistency and other hidden attributes.

Bit of a disconnect from FM players/managers between players having high CA/PA etc and ignoring how these players perform within the match engine.

In real life players are judged by how they perform week in and week out, not by how good people think they are on 'ability' alone.

I get what you're saying, and obviously you know far more than me about how this works, but let me rephrase it: in 18 years of playing FM, I've never seen a player whose performance levels tail off completely from their early/mid 20s. In real life, you've got Mario Balotelli, Dele Alli, Micah Richards, Ross Barkley, Jack Wilshere, David Bentley and many others at EFL level who drop off, whether it be through lack of application, injuries, bad luck or other external factors. I've never seen it in FM.

  7. 4 minutes ago, phnompenhandy said:

You absolutely do. I just got a newgen in my academy with superb CA. His PA is like 4 points higher.

That's not what I'm getting at. That sounds like a talented 16-year-old who will never develop (assuming I understood correctly), whereas I'm on about players who are reach their PA early and then start declining in their mid 20s, which happens in real life but never in FM.

Like I said before, just a wider variety of different player peaks rather than what seems like a 'one size fits all' approach would be more realistic.

  8. 25 minutes ago, Mcfc1894 said:

I wouldn't say changes to player development has made it more realistic to real life look at arsenal the average age in real life squad is now 24 years old and they have a few under 23 s playing in Saka, saliba, Martinelli, in long term saves now in FM they don't younger players under the age of 25 regularly at all like less than 10 starts in a whole season the player development have made the balance even worse not better just now its the opposite squads too bloated with older players and young player finding it insanely difficult to get regular football until they are 25/26

Personally, I think it just needs more variety.

For example, you never get the Dele Alli or Mario Balotelli types who peak in their early 20s and drop off a cliff by their late 20s, and you never get the Vardy/Lambert/Holt types who are non-league in their early 20s, EFL in their mid 20s before reaching a decent Premier League level in their late 20s. Obviously these are very rare, but even if you get 1-2% falling into either category, then some less extreme examples who peak early/late, it would make for a more realistic and interesting approach to youth development instead of everything being so black and white.

  9. On 30/12/2022 at 15:30, Neil Brock said:

In older versions (so pre-FM22) the player development rate was a little bit too quick, which meant sometimes you'd have high quality prospects reaching their peak by say 21. For that reason we've made changes to make it more true to real life and takes more time.

Realistically for lower league players being ready for the first team by the age of 18 is relatively rare if it's just players through your own academy - it's normally a balance between players discarded by clubs higher up the ladder and the odd prospect that makes it through.

Speaking from my own personal experience, I've seen players develop by more than 1-2 attributes over the space of a few seasons in FM23. Between the age of 16-20 I've had a DM increase his Acceleration, Agility, Stamina and First Touch by 5, Concentration by 7 and Strength by 8. In total having 22 attributes which have increased by 2 or more. So yes, players can be developed.

I've got this lad who has just come through in my first intake, and he's already good enough for the National League. The problem is, even though he has only existed in the game for eight months, there has been no significant development whatsoever despite the fact he has been playing regular first team football at the age of 16. In fact, his technical attributes seem to have got worse.

I know I'm probably being impatient, and the average training facilities, 2*, 2.5* and 3* coaching, and semi-professional status won't help things, but is there any advice on how I could actually develop this kid? I really don't want him to go to waste, because he is one of those youngsters that is freakishly good for the level of football he's playing at.

  10. Summary: I asked my board to upgrade my junior coaching and they accepted, but it has gone from average to adequate.

Description of issue: As above. It says in the news message that the budget has been increased, but it has actually downgraded from average to adequate.

Steps to reproduce: Ask to upgrade junior coaching, I guess.

A PKM is a file that allows us to watch the match therefore we would be able to see the issue.

If this issue reoccurs, please get back in touch with us.

Will do, but I haven't seen it happen again in the next seven seasons so it may have been a one-off (or just incredibly rare) issue.

  12. Summary: The history of some players keeps disappearing and sort of half reappearing.

Description of issue: Most players are missing the history for just last season. Some are missing two or three years (Matondo), some are missing everything except this season (Oliveira) and some aren't missing anything (Yordanov).

I'm sure a few weeks ago (game time) some players had their whole history and but most had just this season, but now it appears that it's last season that is causing the issue for most players.

Steps to reproduce: I don't think there's anything. There may be something causing it, but I've no idea what.

Files uploaded: Polska.fm is the most recent, and there's also Polska (v03).fm from a couple of weeks ago.

Hey @FreddyGuarin, have you got a PKM for the match, please?

I'm not entirely sure what a PKM is, but I'm guessing it's a video of the game? If so, then I haven't; I posted this thread three months ago and I've advanced the game about seven years since then and I can't get match highlights, or even teams and scorers, from that far back.

    Hi @Freddy Guarin

If you happen to have a save game from around June 2026 would you be able to upload the save to our cloud service.

As Tony has mentioned we are aware of  registration issues. But would like to look into an earlier save point in your example if possible.

    Cheers,

    Ben

    @Ben Kenney

As luck would have it, I actually do! I uploaded it the other day when I commented on another bug; it's called LacerdaUnhappy.fm.

  15. Summary: I just played a league game against a team who didn't register most of their first team squad.

Description: I just played a game against Podbeskidzie. They didn't register most of their players, and ended up playing a mish-mash of B-team players and youngsters with a subs bench of greyed out players.

Unsurprisingly, I got totally FMed: I had 30 shots to their two, and drew 1-1.

Steps to reproduce: Nothing: just look at my last match against Podbeskidzie.

    File uploaded: NonRegister.fm.

  16. Not sure if this dynamics or transfers, but I'll put it here.

Summary: A bid was made for a player and he said he was interested in talking to the club. I accept the bid but he rejects the club, and then is unhappy because he wants to join them.

Description: Sao Paulo made an offer for Derik Lacerda. He said he was interested and I accepted the bid because he was only a squad player, but a few days later he rejected the contract. I then noticed a few days later than he is 'Sit' because he wants to join Sao Paulo.

Steps to reproduce: None. In the save, the bid has been accepted and Lacerda will likely reject Sao Paulo in a day or two. He should then become unhappy as he wants to join Sao Paulo.

    File uploaded: LacerdaUnhappy1.

  17. Summary: A promise was completed ten days ago but the player is still concerned and half the squad are supporting him.

Description of issue: One of my players, Maciej Rosolek, was unhappy about the lack of squad depth at centre back when the board accepted a bid for my star centre back and he left, and I promised him I'd strengthen the squad. I've signed two centre backs and he's happy at my efforts, with the promise shown as succeeded and finished ten days ago, yet he still has a 'Sit' next to him and it's ruining the morale of the squad because 16 players support him- some are 'Spt' and some are 'Wtg'.

Surely if the promise has been completed and carried out everything should be back to normal, and if it isn't back to normal then the promise should be ongoing or showing as failed?

Steps to reproduce: None, as the promise was made two months ago and the window closed ten days ago.

    Files uploaded to OwnCloud: RosolekUnhappy.fm

EDIT: I've played on another fortnight and he's now gone from Sit to Unh, even though the promise is still showing as completed and succeeded. I've never received any message about this either, so it isn't like I can ever talk to him. He's been my top scorer for the last four seasons, he's my vice-captain and he's noticeably underperforming and dragging down the morale of the entire squad so this is becoming something of a major issue that stems from what appears to be a bug.

EDIT2: I've now played through another two weeks and the promise has disappeared with him going public with his concerns. Morale is low all around the squad and I've gone seven games without a win (I'm the defending league champions), which hasn't been helped by this. It's started to have a real impact on my save now.

  18. I've noticed this for the central defender in a back three. I've played four seasons now and I've only ever used a back three and wing backs, so I've used a few different players across the three defensive positions over a decent period of time but the one in the centre always gets a consistently lower rating than the other two, generally about 0.5 over the course of the average match/season.

Is it to do with my tactics? For example, I have the wider two set as BPDs and the middle one as a CD. Is it that, or is it the fact that the central defender always gets a lower rating?

  19. 14 minutes ago, Viktor Ilivanov said:

From the point of view of the feeder club (or club1, as you named it), they wouldn't mind the extra quality - it should come from the Senior Affiliate that makes the decision to loan them only one (so the other keeper can get playing time elsewhere :) )

I'll be on the lookout for this issue in my own saves as well.

CLUB1 was the club loaning out, not the club loaning in, hence why they were the ones that rejected the offer ;)

  20. Along similar lines, I'd like to see the ability to copy and paste training schedules from weeks that have already started or finished. At present, you can only copy a training week from a week that hasn't started, but the ability to copy weeks from the previous season would be great.

This way, you can just copy the previous year's pre-season schedule, the usual schedule for during the season and also the 'international break or no match' week. At present, you have to recreate all of these at the start of every season and it is a waste of five or six minutes.

  21. 10 minutes ago, Viktor Ilivanov said:

Hello and thanks for the feedback.

From what I've seen, they've been extremely unlucky with injuries, with Betinelli getting injured twice during a match and once with a slight injury (substituted in that match as well, to avoid aggravating it). Tim Krul got a dislocated shoulder in December, which sidelined him for 7 weeks.

For the issue with two young keepers being loaned at the same team - sadly, we'll need a save from before they're sent to investigate further.

    Kind regards,

    Vik

Fair enough. I did notice they had a few injuries which explained some of the substitutions, but I wasn't sure if it justified eight goalkeeper subs in 26 matches. I also thought the fact they seemed to bring on different keepers each time was peculiar.

For the point about two goalkeepers being loaned to the same club, could this just not be hard-coded into the game? 'CLUB1 has rejected the loan offer from CLUB2 because they don't want two of their goalkeepers on loan at the same club'?

  22. Summary: A player is unhappy about being left out of the Champions League squad.

Description of issue: In the Champions League qualifying rounds, you can make one change to your squad between rounds, which is useful because there are four of them for clubs from low ranked countries. Between the first and second qualifying rounds, I signed two new players, but could only name one in the squad. The one I didn't name, Obradovic, is now getting pissy because he wasn't included in the squad, and now the media are asking questions about it too.

Surely the game and the players within it should understand the rules so players don't kick up a fuss about it?

Anyway, to appease him, I promised that I'd pick him in the next Champions League squad. However, the next week, before an opportunity to name a new squad even came up, he suddenly out of the blue said he was angry that he still wasn't named in the squad as promised and was now considering his future.

So I've sold a reliable squad player for a more expensive one that is now bordering on unusable unless he backs down in the near future.

EDIT: And now, to make things worse, I've progressed to the third qualifying round and I don't have the option to remove a player, which I'd need to do in order to add Obradovic. Hopefully I'll be able to add him to a European squad of some sorts before long and he drops his concern.

Steps to Reproduce: At Champions League squad naming day, select Egbo but not Obradovic. Promise to name him in the next squad and then go forward a week (between the Super Cup and the second leg against Maccabi Haifa).

have you looked into the Aussie's?  i am literally gonna get another Australian next youth intake according to youth candidate preview... this is a german club and i would think that it would make the majority of german player's right? at least player's who choose germany since they live in germany and play for a german team? i have been posting proofs and save of this issue but can't seem to get a response to this? why is that? Do you hate germans?

Also would like to point out that this will be my 3rd aussie GOALKEEPER in 4 seasons... do i really need that many goalkeepers playing for Australia of all country's?

    Youth preview 2023.png

For what it's worth, I noticed on FM20 that Dortmund got loads of Aussies coming through their system. It seems that it is unchanged.

I understand they have an affiliation with an Australian side, but the number of Australian newgens was far too high; usually about a quarter of the intake.
