  1. Competition time!

"Please pick me! Please pick me!"

(back to back promotions with st.albans city so doing alright) i love fm so much that i have even decided to use it in my assignment. however im stuggling to find some info and was wondering if anyone knows where i can find this information! 1.what kind of advertising budget does a game like fm have? and what is this in relation to other games? 2.how much share of the market does fm have?and what is the size of this market? 3.who is a typical user of fm? i.e.a customer profile? any help would be much appreciated cheers ryan </div></BLOCKQUOTE> My beat advice to you here is to find another angle for your essay. The only information you can get from "Companies House" is the financial information of the company (turnover, shareholdings, ebitda, tax, etc). You will not be able to deduce enough information from that though I'm afraid. However, there may be a breakdown of operational costs which may give you the overall marketing spend. Customer profiling is so costly and so valuable that you are unlikely to ever get access to this information. Since Sega Europe acquired the share capital of SI Games, I would imagine that they would see this type of information as a key marketing tool against the opposition in their marketing and distribution of the FM series and their other games. Can't you perhaps take a different angle on your essay though? Perhaps one that can allow you to enjoy the essay, but a the same time give you a chance of completing it? If you want to do customer profiles, perhaps you could ask for a sample through the forums and see how many people respond. p.s. If you really want to know more about a company, the best thing to do is to buy a share (just one share is enough) and then call the company to explain that you are a shareholder and have some questions for their shareholders' service centre. You will then find out exactly what they are willing to give you and what they are not. Remember that a shareholder in a company is king. The directors of a company work for the shareholders and their number one legal priority (above all else; employees and customers included) is the shareholder value. This "p.s." is an aside. It really doesn't improve your chances of success in getting access to this very private data. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Be careful about this, the new Companies Act codifies directors duties and it includes duties to customers, employees and even the environment!!!
  3. <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by BayernMB: From my experience you can only raise expectation for league position not for cup results... But league expectation are funny aswell. I've started the game with Karlsruhe and initial goal was to try to avoid relegation and transfer budget for it was 100.000€... Just for fun I tried to selest the goal "Winner" to see what would happen with my transfer budged - in increased to 150.000€. So the board expects to form a Bundesliga winning squad with additional 50.000€... that just ridiculous. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> No you expect to form a Budesliga winning squad. The board have told you they only have 150,00E. They can't magically create cash to match your expectations if the club does not have it or they are not willing to spend it.
  4. I took over United (3rd season) and Rooney was already captain an had a storming season, scoring loads. Ronaldo also broke all the records for assists. In my second season with them (4th in game season) and Rooney is not as prolific as Ashton whom I brought into play with him. Ronaldo is also not performing to the same standards. Wondered whether he has been found out, so set him to switch position with the left winger and seems to have given him a new lease of life. Rooney is getting better too, but still struggling a little.
  5. Is it possible that the match engine has been improved to work round your magnificent tactic. IE one centre back says to the other, I'll mark him?
  6. Juggling club and country management.

He must have been set at international footballer. That is unrealistic to believe the national team appoint a international star to their coach. Teams like Nigeria notoriously appoint foriegn coaches as well. A lot of international teams have appointed international with limited or no management experience, eg Klinnsman and Marco Van Basten. It is realistic if you think of your management game as that of an international legend getting into mangement, not as a semi-pro work horse trying to make a career in management.

I wonder if these same people expect Sir Alex to resign and have a whinge at EPL officials, accusing Sven of cheating, for losing against Man City despite the Man U players having better stats on FM08 </div></BLOCKQUOTE> I love how these fan boys come out with one recent example of things that have happened which you may not expect, then crack on to those who claim the game is unrealistic because of this, but people know these things happen in real life, this is part of football, but what you dont seem to understand is that in football manager it happens all the time! which makes it unrealistic. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> If it happened all the time surely you should pick a really poor team and win games 1-0 with one shot and win the league? Do you get relegated when you have a great team because you lose all of your games?
  8. Lost in the 6th round of the FA Cup - 3rd Round of the League Cup (to City) - Second in the league by 3 pts behind Arsenal... but won the CL last night. Beat Arsenal 1-0 in the final with a Rooney wunder-goal. EPL next season is the aim.

Sometimes you lose when you should have won, but that is football. If you accept, there are a lot more shots than you would normally expect - and work on it at about 15% then it normally seems a fair balance.
  10. I am a little impatient - and due to getting on a bit and have a very demanding day job cannot put the hours in I used to. Setting reputation to one of the highers I have found is a good middle ground. You can start unemployed and get a good(ish) job instead of starting at the bottom. My current game started at Kaiserslauten (Ger div 2) and then Middlesboro (relegated to Championship) and then Man United plus Ivory Coast. World Cup win in 2010 and CL in 2011 have been satisfying!
  11. I think the point is, he will only solve the problem if he accepts the problem may be him and not the "cheating" game!
  12. Sav112 - you appear to have posted expecting everyone to simply agree with you. Instead, you have received some really helpful suggestions and offers of assistance. However, you blankly refuse to move from you tactics and your training. I think it would help for you to open up your mind to the possibility that you might not have got it right at the moment, and that it is you that is causing these problems, not the AI. It always seems like an easy excuse to blame the match engine and not your tactics/players/decisions etc...
  13. Hardcore fans?

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by BJG123: <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by canvey!!: <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by KK2003: How can you have a percentage above 100%? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> That's the thing - it kind of flaws Amaroq's argument. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> 600. 100=100% therefore 500% would be 500, and a 500% increase on 100 is 600. You can always have more than 100%. It depends on your base comparison. If I have 20,000 fans in year 1 and 25,000 fans in year 2 that is a 25% increase in fans, meaning I have 125% of the fans I had in year 1. The point being raised here, is that the base number if size of the stadium, not the number of fans. IE - I have 10,000 seats but 15,000 hardcore fans therefore I have 150% hardcore fans compared to attending fans. You don't both seriously believe you can't have a percentage over 100 do you? What's a 500% increase of 100? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
  14. For some reason I alway like to start in the second tier with a team you can build up to continental standard... but get side tracked. 2007/8 Kaiserslauten (Ger 2nd div) - finished 3rd after leading for the whole season and failed in the play-offs. 2008 - got appointed Ivory Coast manager after the african nations cup. 2008/9 Kaiserslauten (Ger 2nd div) - never got going, was 7th but lacked any form of consistency (think I signed too many players). Was touted for numerous jobs, but applying for the Udinese job was enough for the board to encourage me to resign to maintain my reputation. I resigned. 2008/9 Middlesboro (Prem) - got the 'boro job, but they were bottom of the league with 10 games to go and 15 points adrift. Managed to win 5 of them, but got relegated on the penultimate game of the season. 2009/10 (Champ)Took Middlesboro to 3rd - 1 pt of automatic promotion and 12 pts clear of 4th. Managed to win the play-off and securing promotion. Niculescu and Trejo star striking partnership following the relegation player exodus. 2010 - Ivory Coast - despite a penalties defeat in the 1/4 finals of the African Noations to Tunisia, I want ont to make history and win the world cup with the Ivory Coast - magnificent cup run culminated in 1-0 semi-final win over Brazil and 1-0 final win over England. Drogba and Romaric star goalscorers. 9 players selected for team of the tournament. Beat Italy 4-0 in the groups! 2010/11 - on the back of the World Cup win I replaced the retired Sir Alex at Man Utd. Currently top of prem 4 pts clear with 14 games to go. 2nd round of the CL and 6 round of the FA Cup. Ivory Coast are strolling to African Nations qualification. Utd team - Foster, Simpson, Evra, Ferdinand, Brown, Hargreaves, Ronaldo, Menez, Diego, Rooney, Ashton - Zieler, O'Shea, Nani, Franks, Chamakh
  15. Whine won't fix it. The whole game is a mathematic function. The AI teams are run under the same environmental conditions as your team. Suck it up and fix it... the designers do not purposely cheat you out of games... why would they? When you were winning I bet you weren't worrying about how the AI teams were getting cheated out of games.
