Hi, guys! I'm taking advantage of the recent promotion to play until March 25th (it's only my second FM). I started a career with Brentford and I managed, not without difficulty, to get promoted to the first division through playoffs ! I've signed a few players (Yoane Wissa, Lenz and got andré gray on loan) to help me get there.

I made some purchases during the summer window before the start of the first division with the new budget allocated by the managers.

I've also just signed Benoit Badiashile at CB.

Thing is, i don't have enough left to buy a striker (3 millions left) and no one in the free agent list was interesting. I still have pretty much all the original players (only had to sold Dalsgaard) , but i'm wondering if Watkins or Mbeumo would make a decent striker in the prem. If you have any suggestions, i'm listening ! I'm also looking for tips to maximize my chances of staying in the top fight

I picked up Mason Greenwood on loan in my second season save for Brentford and he's now the top goal scorer in the league.

  2. Hey, pal.

So I've just finished my Brentford save, getting automatic promotion.

I had some real issues with Ollie Watkins through the middle. Again, like you, I was creating loads of chances but not scoring enough.

About halfway through the season I put Ollie on the left(IF) and played around with Mbeumo as a pressing forward or Marcus Forss as a striker. I ended the season with Ollie being my top goalscorer with 15 goals and Forss bagging 9 in 15. Ollie is alot more effective cutting in from the wide than he is leading the line. Also, Tarique Fosu is a great super sub when Watkins or Benhrama inevitably drop a 6.4 every few games.

I'm not sure if you kept him, but Emiliano Marcondes was a great addition to the side when I figured out how to fit him in. I initially opted for the same formation as you, but decided to try out a 4-2-3-1 with Marcondes in the AM position and it proved to be a game changer with 8 goals and 5 assists in 24 games.

I also started playing around with the opposition instructions. What you'll notice with Championship sides is that most teams play with inside forwards. This means that right footed players play on the left and left footed players play on the right. If you set up your OI to move player on to their weaker foot, you can push them out wide and make them largely ineffective (this worked especially well when I beat Liverpool 3-2 in the FA Cup and kept Mane and Salah quiet)

Last bit of advise is on corners. I scored ALOT of goals from corners. Pinnock and Jansson are absolute monsters in the air and they managed to get me 10 goals from set pieces (I've attached my set piece routine.

Let me know if any of these tips help.
