Never tried mentoring in u23. I'm interested to know if it works and if the senior player doesnt complain his lack of play time.

Yeah i'm in the same position lol. This is the first time of trying it. I got this message:

I went to discuss the problem with him but because i came to speak to him he dropped the issue and i didn't even have to argue with him, probably because he's professional. Only time will tell if he becomes unsettled but all seems good so far. He also only has slight impact in the mentoring group but i'm hoping because he is the oldest he will rub off on them and not be affected himself.

Please tell me the results. Rankings of tactics you created ??

These are my results so far. Up until the game against Aston Villa i played with 3 in central midfield but then changed the tactic to what it is now. The only difference is AP instead of a midfield 3 (roaming player maker, deep lying play maker, roaming player maker) and the tempo was set at slightly higher.

A brief conclusion of the stats: Passing stats is where this tactic excels by it being the best in the league at average possession, total passes and pass completion ratio. I've also been switching between 1st and 2nd in terms of most goals scored with Man City, recently Man Utd have been scoring for fun and have just now pipped us both.

Defensively we have been the best with Man City as the good old saying states " if we have the ball they can't score" lol. We are joint first in clean sheets and goals conceded and have the best tackle ratio in the game. We are also the lowest at fouling opposition players.

If there are any other stats you would like to know more about please feel free to ask, hope this helps.

A great combination of Gegenpress & Tika-Taka football. This formation has worked brilliantly for me so far. What this tactic offers is an entertaining attacking quick short passing high possession based style with high intensity pressing. Out of possession your players will look to close down and win the ball back as quickly as possible usually forcing the opposition into frequent mistakes e.g misplaced passes straight to your players or out of play. Opposing teams that also keep the ball well usually play the ball around a little longer before hoofing the ball up field or out of play.

In possession your team will play attractive short passes mainly focusing on keeping the ball whilst having a primary intention of playing the ball forward to get your team into attacking areas as quickly as possible. Your Inside Forwards have plenty of space so you also get a slight mix of direct passes into them when the opposition try to press you with a high intensity game plan. Even though it's not intentional this tactic offers a lot of chances through crosses but its primary aim is to work the ball into the box with short cute passes.

    Player Instructions

SK - Support, Pass It Shorter.

CWB - Support, Pass It Shorter, Take Fewer Risks, Shoot Less Often.

BPD - Defend, Dribble Less, Shoot Less Often.

BBM - Support, Pass It Shorter, Dribble Less.

DLP - Support, Pass It Shorter, Dribble Less.

AP- Support, Pass It Shorter, Dribble Less, Roam From Position.

IF - Attack, Pass It Shorter, Shoot Less Often.

DLF - Support, Pass It Shorter, Dribble Less, Shoot Less Often.

The idea of my formation is to have the high intensity counter pressing of a Jurgen Klopp team with the slick short quick attacking passing style of the prime Iniesta / Xavi / Messi Barcelona team.

Feel free to ask any questions you like :)

Thank you @BarraBravaDCU for pointing out my mistake, I've reached my limit for posts a day so can't reply directly to you. It was late when i created this post so my bad :)

  4. Hi, I would like to know if a player in my U23s gets his appearance/clean sheet and unused substitute bonus fee for playing U23s matches? I have placed James Milner in the U23s just for mentoring. I'm about to offer him a new contract and I've noticed i can lower his wage a lot by offering him a silly appearance fee. When hovering over the appearance fee it says " a bonus paid to the player for each first team appearance they make", so does that mean all of them said bonuses only apply if he plays in first team matches?
