  1. Anyone else seeing fouls in the penalty area that don't seem to match the animation? I'm seeing perfectly timed tackles on screen being given as penalties.
  2. Hitting the woodwork waaay too many times. In 11 league matches this season, I've hit the post/crossbar 71 times.
  3. I'd be waiting with bated breath for that question to pop up. Instead, I'd get asked about my u21 fullback and my thoughts on Barnsley sacking their manager.
  4. I've just just been offered a new manager job and have done the back room staff changes. I receive two new posts in my inbox: 1. The contract offer from the new club 2. A message from my current club asking to discuss my future If I click on the 'discuss future message' and agree to attend the meeting, the board offer me incentives to reconsider (e.g. new contract, more funds, etc). If I decline their new offer, I'm automatically resigned and the new club contract offer disappears. There's also no option to re-apply for the job. Anyone else had this issue? The workaround obviously is to accept the new club offer and not talk to your current board - but it's very confusing. Surely after turning down you old club's revised offer - you should be free to sign for the new club.
  5. I'm still playing the save I started at the beginning of beta. I'm still only in my second season - but I do like to take my time with a save. This year I've made a conscious effort to avoid the more histrionic threads about game-breaking stuff and see for myself. Don't get me wrong, the game's not perfect (it never will be) - but still very enjoyable. Just play the game while you wait for the updates.
  6. Maybe, but it as was listed in the quality of life upgrades blog, it must have been more than just a 'sure, why not' decision.
  7. I'd love to know the rationale behind the decision to add face paints to manager customisation. Not only do I find it baffling that time was spent adding this - but that someone thought it was good idea. After all the criticism of last year, I thought SI would have steered clear of this type of stuff and focused more on noticeable visual improvements. Me: "I play in a home stadium that only has one floodlight and it looks so unrealistic. Will it be fixed next year?" SI: "Here, have some face paints for your manager."
  8. I'm enjoying my beta, Bradford City, save - so will probably continue with that.
  9. I must be in the minority then as I'm really enjoying the game. Yes- there are things to be tweaked before release, but the ME is much better than any previous FM. What were you expecting from FM24? It was always going to be similar to FM23.
  10. Manager timeline is displaying inaccurate information. Vandenburgh and Ebbrell have never previously played for or been part of the staff at Bradford.
  11. I like the idea of press conferences, but I feel that could be scaled back a lot. I find pre and post match conferences, with the regular pre-kick-off tunnel interview (if playing in a top league) just too much. The questions become monotonous early into a save, and then I switch off and end up just selecting the mildly positive reply (the one second from left) to every question. It'd be great if for most matches it was just a post match conference (maybe pre-match ones for semis and finals). I'd like them to also focus more on events that have happened (e.g. sending offs, offsides, amount of injury time) and not whether a youth player deserves a new contract. As for player interaction, it's juts not working properly in FM24. Confrontations need to be toned down. Hopefully this will be addressed when the game goes live.
  12. It's a tough one. Usually depends how far I think I can go with my current club and the potential they have. How long have you been with Cadiz? Will it be your first trip into Europe with them? If it was me, I'd stay with Cadiz for another season. There'll always be other job offers.
  13. Well... he got a work permit and has signed the contract! So, with my belief firmly suspended, I'm delighted to have the three times Ballon d'Or winner in my team. Welcome to Valley Parade, Marco!
  14. Good post. I haven't ventured into international management yet - but agree with the rest. I've been really impressed with the match engine so far. I'm seeing a nice variety of goals and the player movements on and off the ball is much better that last year. Dribbling, goalkeeper injuries (at last) and more realistic deflections - some of the many nice touches I've seen so far. Game speed improvement is something that I wasn't expecting and has allowed me to add more leagues to my save and still play at the same pace I'm used to. As many have already mentioned, interactions do need to be toned down considerably, but otherwise - happy customer!
  15. Davids was already based in London and keen to get into management - that's why he took the Barnet job. That is not the same as moving to another country for a DoF role in the lower leagues. I am aware that its only a game, but what I am trying to say is that Van Basten's reputation in FM, must be much lower than it is IRL. As for your 'random punter comment', that's only true if you're taking over an existing a managers job. Of course, it's a game - you can manage whoever you like. However, if you're starting unemployed in FM with a low reputation and no badges, you would not be able to get an interview for vacant posts at high rep clubs.
  16. What does it say in the Happiness tab of his profile. Is he unhappy about anything? Considering his options?
  17. Lovely post, thank you for sharing! It brought the memories back of playing computer games with my dad in the 80s. He's 77 now and has graduated to an Xbox! He continues to get so much joy out of gaming and it's great to hear to hear him talking so passionately about what he's currently playing. Stay strong mate and welcome to the forum!
  18. Coincidentally, John Hendrie runs a curd tart shop in Groningen.
  19. He has a net worth of over 15 million Euros. Is he really going to going to settle for £900 a month before tax in League 2?
  20. He's accepted the contract offer, just waiting on him to accept - or if it's scuppered by any WP issues. Can't see any of his favorites at the club. I'm also signing a Dutch coach - but that was agreed after Van Basten accepted.
  21. Looking for a Director of Football and Marco Van Baston not only available, but is happy to join Bradford City in League 2 for £900 a week. Anyone else think this is a tad unrealistic?
  22. My squad are now unhappy with my management of the team, because we're lacking depth in the goalkeeper position. There's no option to tell them that I have no money or wage budget - or that our current keeper (who is also complaining) is arguably the best keeper in the league and that IMO there is sufficient back-up. Even if I did have the funds, I still wouldn't be able to sign anyone as the first transfer window is disabled. All I can do is make a promise I probably won't be able to keep, try to appease them - or tell them that I'm in charge and they need to show me some respect. Having to deal with an awful lot of complaints about my management at such an early stage in the season.
  23. Pre-season friendly, squander a 2-0 lead to lose 4-3 at Cowdenbeath. Shocking 2nd half performance, so I told the team that I was disappointed with result. I've now got an unhappy squad. Needs to be toned down a bit IMO
