  1. the problem is that most of stadiums does not look like the real ones (f.e. I cant stand looks of Wisla Krakow stadium in game vs reality - Wisla stadium has a roof but not in FM ;D) so some sort of editor to change a shape, stands positions etc (same example - Wisla's stadium is oval in game and looks like colloseum, while in reality it is square - I am pretty sure that there are more stadiums like this).

    Pretty much every stadium is like this within Football Manager, When the 3D engine was first introduced we were told that we would be able to build stadiums with 3d software programs and import these into the game (much like Fifa games) however this has never been achievable as the .3ds stadia files are not able to be opened in any public 3D Modelling software. Again I think SI are missing a trick here as the community could create these stadiums much like logo, adboard packs etc. SI have been asked about this for years and as always there silence on the subject is deafening. I know SI for example can’t give us a realistic Old Trafford without it being licenced but all they need to do is either let us know what software is used to build these (have a feeling this won’t be publically available though) stadiums or offer a tool to convert files into this format.

  2. I don’t think much should be changed within the Stadium side of FM in terms of the manager dictates how big stands are etc... This is a tired and clichéd reason but it's simply not what a manager does.

    IMO what would be more worthwhile is in overhaul in training and youth facilities, managers dictating if the club has, video analysis facilities and staff, dietarian staff and canteen facilities at training grounds, in door training areas, specialist equipment such as Dortmund’s reaction machine, Cardio hills, links with local schools so Academy players merge training with their education to receive more football training hours

    For what its worth in terms of stadiums for the life of me I still don't know why we have never been able to customize the 3D stadiums. I know for example right now SI can't just make relaise a realistic Old Trafford or NOU Camp and release tomorrow due to licensing issues which is fair enough but all they need to do is have the 3ds files in an editable format and let the community create the stadiums which is the norm in fifa, pes... Let’s be honest if Old Trafford or Nou Camp etc where made as a 3D stadium and fully useable within the 3D engine they would be downloaded tens of thousands of times at an absolute minimum! This would the bigges step forward in the 3D engine and FM in genral for me in years!

    If we can add our own unofficial unlicensed logos, kits, players faces etc why are stadia treated differently?

  3. I don't necessarily think that summer football would be a "magic bullet" so to speak but I believe that a Summer season has more pros than cons and would at the very least have a minor positive impact on the game! I've not touched the coefficients there still set at 1CL AND 3EL I've just prevented the Scottish Cup runners up getting a EL spot meaning theirs the potential for 3EL spots in the league.

  4. Football fans throughout Scotland believe that the current league structure and format are outdated and in need of change, many fans have proposed various new structures and here is my proposed solution for Scottish Football aimed to improve the quality of the game, attract sponsors and improve finance.

    Summer Football

    This databases see’s Scottish Football switch to a Summer season with the leagues kicking off on the last weekend of February and finishing in November. I believe that switching to summer football would have many advantages such as; improved pitches, less money spent on match day expenses (floodlights etc). Scottish teams entering Europe in the lesser rounds would also be in the middle of their season offering them a competitive advantage against some sides in terms of match fitness (Switching to summer football has seen Irish sides record better results in Europe) and finally less competition for a TV deal during the summer months may make the SPFL more attractive to TV companies. In the event of Scotland qualifying for a European Championship or World Cup the Premier League will shut down for 1 month.

    Youth Development

    Within this system there are two main features geared towards Youth Development; firstly 20 sides have B teams playing within the Scottish leagues aimed at giving youth players competitive match experience (The clubs with B team now no longer enter a side into the U20 Leagues)and Secondly the SFA performance Schools have been added into the game and into there own league so they can be scouted (no teams can be promoted/relegated from this league and these clubs cant be managed).

    Tier System

    The SPLF will keep its 4 tier system expanding to 80 clubs with 5 leagues of 16 teams with the bottom tier regionalised.

    pyr.png

    Below The SPFL pyramid we have a new regionalised pyramid with improved promotion and relegation systems in place which feeds in under the new regionalised League 2

    Tennent's Scottish Premiership

    ten.png

    The newly sponsored Premiership features 16 teams who play one another twice. However a simple format such as this would cost teams too much money as they would lose out on 6 games. The solution to this is a dreaded league split however this split takes an influence from the Belgian model and gives teams an even number of games along with ensuing that every side has something to play for throughout the season. The league will split into 4 groups with ever team having 3 home and 3 away games.

    Irn-Bru League One

    League One is more a simple 16 team league with 30 games and no split, with additional prize money compensation for the loss of games some clubs may face, while many clubs in the league gain league games coming from a smaller divisions. Within the league One four teams are relegated (2 to League Two South and 2 to League Two North)

    Cup Competitions

    The Scottish Cup has been reformatted to include all new league clubs with teams in Higher divisions seeded till the later rounds, the runner up of the cup no longer qualifies for the Europa League.

    The League Cup has been reformatted to include all new SPFL league clubs with teams in Higher divisions seeded till the later rounds.

    The Petrofac Cup has also been reformatted to include all new SPFL league clubs with teams in Higher divisions seeded till the later rounds and is scheduled to run across the summer.

    The Johnnie Walker Homecoming Cup - A new cup featuring the winner of the Premiership in a 4 team knockout tournament against a teams invited from America, Australia & Canada. This cup rotates between 4 host nations, comes with a total prize pot of £750,000 and aims to promote Scottish Football in these three countries (countries with the highest EX-Pat populations) aiming to gain more sponsorship and television revenues.

    Other Cups

    Several cup competitions have been restructured to included teams who previously competed within them, These are mainly for smaller clubs and are the only cup competitions that 'B' teams play in.

    Aberdeenshire Cup

    West of Scotland Cup

    Other Changes

    Added an extra £6M prize money which comes from sponsors, new TV deals etc, this money has been spread evenly from SPL down to the lowest level.

    Removed Aberdeen, Dundee United and Kilmarnock debts due to these clubs reaching agreements with banks

    Changed Hibs £6.5M Bank debt to a £5M Chairman loan debt

    Added ticket prices and attendance figures to over 100 clubs.

    - Fixed error in League Cup Rules

  5. I'm currently making a restructure of the SPL, I have the league as a 16 team league with teams playing each other twice. After these 30 league games the league splits into 4 mini league of 4 teams who again play each other twice. After this stage I have 4th and 5th playing a 2 legged playoff for the last EUROPA League spot along with 14th and 12th playing for the relegation playoff with the loser of this tie playing the winner of the championships promotion play off.

    So far most of this works my only issue is with the Relegation play off, when trying to test the rules in the editor i get a message saying "Wrong number of teams found for stage 7 of the Scottish Premiership"

    In FM 12th and 14th place meet and play the 2 legged play off (stage 5 in my league), however instead of the loser entering the playoff final (stage 7 in my league) the editor pulls a random non league team to play against the winner of the championships promotion playoff, this leads me to believe that stage 7 is failing to pull the losing team from stage 5 into stage 7.

    Within stage 5 I have 2 fate actions;

    Set League Fate, Losing Team, Bottom Playoff, 7, 7

    Qualify Team For Stage, Losing Team, 7, Relegation Playoff

    And within stage 7 I have the following team settings;

    Get Promotion Playoff Teams From Lower Division If Inactive, Scottish Championship, 1, 1

    Get Qualified Teams From Stage, Scottish Championship, 1, Promotion Playoff, Final, Teams get incremental seeding values starting from the seeding value, 1

    Get Qualified Teams From Stage, 5, Relegation Playoff, Final, Teams get incremental seeding values starting from the seeding value, 0

    Does anyone have any idea where I'm going wrong and what else I can try?

  6. I've given this a try and cant get anything to change, such a pity something as simple as this could make the 3D environment much more realistic, for the life of me I still don't know why we have never been able to customize the 3D stadiums. I know SI can't due to licensing issues which is fair enough but all they need to do is have the 3ds files in an editable format and let the community create the stadiums which is the norm in fifa, pes... if we can add our own unofficial unlicensed logos, kits, players faces etc why are stadia treated differently?

  7. So I've redone my league without the positional playoffs.

    I have successfully made the league split into 4 groups however this still has the points set to 0 in the new group, this doesn't really effect anything as the European places etc come from the original table, in the final version of this league these sections will be hidden anyway. by using the ranking levels I'm hoping that teams should remain in there section e.g. if 5th place has more points than 4th they'll remain 5th in the table like the current SPL split. this means for the playoff position I can just set 4th place on the overall table to play 5th place in the overall table as opposed to 4th in the Championship Group playing 1st in the European Playoff Group which could cause 1st v 8th playing one another based of the results of the groups, if that makes sense.

    My only worry about the above setup is say after a few years Scotland gain an additional European spot, 1st and 2nd = Champions League and 3rd - 5th = Europa League I'd have 2 sides playing a playoff for a European Spot which they already have, is there a way to set the team in the last European position to play the team just outside of it which would obviously change based on the nations co-efficient, I fully expect this to be too advanced for the editor in all honesty.

    Anyway the below file is a 16 team SPL with the 4 splits, the main problem I have right now is the leagues stall after the playoff finals and fail to move into the second season, if anyone could spare some time to take a look it would be much appreciated.

  8. I've tried to create a new database with a 16 team Scottish Premiership with the following structure;

    2 rounds of fixtures followed by a split into 4 groups

    1st - 4th - Championship Group

    5th - 8th - European Playoff Group

    9th - 12th - Relegation Playoff Group

    13th - 16th - Relegation Group

    4th place of the Championship Group then plays 1st (5th) place of the European Playoff group for the final Europa League position, 4th (12th) in the Relegation Playoff Group then plays 2nd (14th) from the Relegation Group with the loser qualifying for the relegation playoffs with three teams for division one.

    However I have came across a number of consistent errors/bugs;

    No matter what I try when the championship group starts every clubs has 0 points instead of carrying with the points from the 30 league games before hand. I have even tried using the Belgian Jupiler League as a template within the editor as it has a similar structure to what I am trying to create and again no points are carried over (the europlay off final also does not play when using this method).

    With my original data I have all my European places awarded correctly e.g. 1st - Champions League and 2nd & 3rd - Europa League however after the European Playoff final all European Places change with teams in the bottom half getting the only Champions League place.

    Other errors I've experienced is that the promotions from the Championship to the Premiership will not happen resulting in the second season starting with the same teams while the Championship remains on the playoff final screens, however League 1 will start a 2nd season.

    Ive also noticed to matter what i change with the editor the saved editor file also has 425 changes!

    Which all leads me the following questions;

    Is this structure possible in the editor?

    Have I made any possible errors?

    Are issues here perhaps bugs within the editor?

    I can provide screenshots, saved games and editor files if needed!

  9. Loving the addition of the match-day Flags to the 3D game, are these in way editable such as the kits and adboards as being able to customize these would make the 3D engine that bit more realistic, I've had a look in the graphics.fmf but had no luck finding them.

    Also are we able to add additional trophy picture's to the game fr specific competitions as this small feature has been requested by a number of people over the past few versions of FM.

  10. In the past I've looked into the 3D stadia however the file format of the 3D files is unique and seems to be exclusive to a tool used by SI, unless they release said tool we cant touch the 3D stadia. It's disappointing that SI have never made this available as the community could have made a lot of real life clubs stadiums which IMO would add a lot to the match engine
