  1. The McKeddie Kids The group of youngsters that David McKeddie has helped bring through to the youth ranks has been labeled 'The McKeddie Kids' by A-League Media. These players are part of the Phoenix Youth teams from the previous years, and are all under the age of 17. The leader of the group is striker Lachlan Hawke. Hawke is an extremely hard worker, and is likely to feature in the first team early on in his young career. He is an extremely smart player despite his age, but definitely has work to do as an athlete, and has to get taken under an older players wing, given his lack of determination. Next up is the diminutive attacking midfielder Dylan Gulley. Gulley is a #10 by trade, but his pace could see him play all along the forward line. He has work to do in the technical side of the game, but his flair and pace make him a threat already. Dylan's namesake Joel Gulley (not related) is a midfielder who has an eye for a pass. While he's not the most physical player, he was instrumental in the build up of McKeddie's side in the Phoenix youth teams. He needs to work on his physicality and his composure.
  2. Growing up in Wellington, New Zealand, David McKeddie was one of the few boys his age who was more interested in football than rugby. It wasn't for a lack of physicality, as David was more than strong enough to keep up. It was more to do with the local club, Wellington Phoenix, who were founded when David was 10 years old. He spent his teenage years supporting the club, and his rugby loving father begrudgingly brought him to as many matches as they could afford. Eventually, David started working for the club, as a youth coach around his 20th birthday. He worked his way up the ranks, eventually becoming the youngest manager in club history at just 26 years old. This is truly a dream come true for David, but to say it was undeserved would be a lie. David has helped shape some of the young players in the Wellington Phoenix academy into potential superstars for the club. The club is confident in this hire, and are hoping for great things with McKeddie at the helm.
  3. Day 1 on the Job The Squad is very solid for League One, and we have lots of young players that can grow with the club. My five favorite young players in the first team are these guys. Tyler Bindon is a really solid CB, one that I think could even be high-tier Championship quality one day. He's from an MLS academy which is always a plus for me, being American. Kelvin Abrefa is the first of the academy prospects, and he's a very physical wingback. He has stamina, work rate, pace, and natural fitness, which allows him to run up and down the wing all game. Nelson Abbey is another academy player, and he will be Bindon's CB partner for this season. He's honestly got Premier League potential in my opinion. Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan is a physical striker, having great strength and jumping reach. He needs to improve his composure, but he could be a really solid target man for us. Coniah Boyce-Clarke is a solid goalkeeper, who is consistent, which is extremely important for a GK in this game. His concentration needs work, though. With those 5 players in their best roles, that leaves the probable tactic looking something like this: We desperately need help in midfield, but I think this is our best XI in terms of progressing our young players for the future. Our U21s and U18s are stacked with young players right at the brink of the first team, and plenty of these guys will see playing time this year with our tactic being so intensive. I will be taking control of training for every single player at the club and will be molding them to fit our tactic above. My five favorite players from the youth teams are these players: \ I'm very excited about the future of this club and am unsure about how many signings I'll even be making in the first few seasons. Song of the Update:
  4. To start, my favorite band is Slowdive, a British shoegaze band from Reading, England. Slowdive has been significant to me for a few years and has entirely shaped my taste in music. I have Souvlaki and everything is alive on vinyl, which is initially what got me into their music. Reading F.C. has fallen on hard times, getting relegated from the Sky Bet Championship last season, and now the club is for sale after the owner has failed to "fund the club adequately", according to the EFL. Without further ado, it's time to turn this club around. Song of the Update (This won't always be Slowdive )
  5. October 2023 Results: League Table: Player Stats:
  6. With the first month of the season done, I'm going to make updates slightly shorter, just showing results, key performances from players, and the league table/cup draws. September 2023 New Signings We finally have a starting-caliber LB. I'm excited to see what Lawton can do in his first season here. With our starting ST injured, I looked to the loan market for our new #9. Matthews has determination issues, but I think his pace and dribbling ability will be suited well to the DLF role. Results: League Table: Team Stats:
  7. August 2023 Match 6 home vs Hemel Hempstead Starting XI: Result: A very solid win, although we did still almost throw it away. Once we improve in defense next season, we will be much better.
  8. August 2023 Match 3 away to Bath Starting XI: Result: I'm at a loss for words. Game 3 in the save and we have come back like Liverpool vs Barcelona. To be fair, all of their goals came from corners, so that makes our defense look a little bit better. Opi Edwards was incredible in this one, and I'm into this save already. Match 4 at home vs Slough Starting XI: Result: Another match where we score 3, and another where we almost throw it away at the end. But 3 points are 3 points. Match 5 away to Farnborough Starting XI: Result: Folivi scored the 3 easiest goals of his life. 2.13 XG on those 3 shots alone, all assisted by Reggie Young.
  9. August 2023 Match 1 of Hart's tenure at home vs Havant & Waterlooville Starting XI: Result: A great result after switching to the Christmas Tree formation. Both new signings in midfield scoring, with Finnegan scoring two great goals from distance. Match 2 away to Tonbridge Starting XI: Sticking with the formation that won us the game last week. Result: We threw it away in the end. A goal in extra time, and missing a penalty that would've been the final kick of the game.
  10. Pre-Season Transfers and Results: I am a big fan of Evans, he's a physical CB with great determination and leadership. I doubt he gets any better with our poor facilities, but for 20 pounds per appearance, I think that's a steal. Lui Bradbury has been signed to be our creative midfielder, and with great finishing, passing, and vision he can play that role well. One of a few free loans we brought in. He's hopefully just going to be a backup. Another free loan. He actually will play quite a few matches for us. And our final free loan signing. Will be a decent rotation option with our plethora of cms. Lynas comes in as a backup RB option. We needed depth there, as we looked to rotate a spot where we needed lots of energy from. The results are mixed, but we played a backup side against Alfreton.
  11. Day 1 on the Job part 2 These are the staff members I'm hiring. A total of 350 p/w is being spent on 5 members of staff.
  12. Day 1 on the Job We officially take over on July 3rd, giving us just 32 days before our first competitive match. Tactics: I'll be alternating between these. The Squad/Key Players: As you'll notice, none of these players are defenders. That's because we only have 2 center backs, and they're not very good in the game.
  13. I wanted to start a new career thread now that baseball season is over, and OOTP24 is unlikely to be my focus for the time being. It's going to be just monthly updates, but unlike previous saves, I'm going to be playing without instant result, and I'm going to be focusing on playing with my tactics. Why Weston-super-Mare? I chose WsM because I loved the color scheme of black, white, and gold. I also think it makes for a fun save going from a mid-table team in the 6th tier to hopefully eventually playing in the Premier League.
  14. 20-year-old CB/RB Samuel Macia follows right behind him.
  15. Signing number 1 in the save is 18-year-old center-back Hugo Moreira. He has 4.5* potential, but will likely only be here for this season.
  16. Phil Jackson. You will pay for this. Anyways. The squad at CFV is a mid-table caliber one, according to my assistant and the media predictions. We're predicted to finish 8th out of 18 teams. The Squad sorted by PA: Top Players: Top Prospects:
  17. José Calderón. The only connection I have to CF Villanovense. Villanovense is based in Villanueva de la Serena, a city in the province of Badajoz. José Calderón was born in Villanueva de la Serena. Calderón also happened to play for the New York Knicks, whom I (begrudgingly) support. I have a NY Knicks t-shirt with Melo's name and number on it, signed by our two foreign point guards of the 2014-15 season, José Calderón and Pablo Prigioni. I loved both for signing my shirt and although I still believe to this day that the 2014-15 Knicks played the worst basketball I've ever watched (Phil Jackson you will pay for ruining Melo's prime years), I still have fond memories of that season. Okay, rant about basketball over, and time to finally boot up FM24 for the first time. We are replacing "Gus" which I presume means there's some shady business going on behind the scenes at CFV.
  18. I welcomed two new players to the club today. Noah Elie's replacement, 20-year-old Center-back Andrea Papetti joins from Brescia for 4.3m. We desperately needed CB cover after losing Elie, and Papetti will undoubtedly be a starter for us this year. He's faster than most of our attackers, stronger than them, and can play out from the back. Serbian goalkeeper Aleksandar Popovic joins from Partizan for 2.4m, and he looks like a great shot-stopper. He's got quick reflexes, communicates well, and can jump as high as any goalkeeper at the club.
  19. *Breaking* "Swedish center-back Noah Eile has joined Serie A side Hellas Verona on January deadline day for a flat fee of 2 million pounds. When asked about the low transfer fee, Anton Lundquist had this to say:" "Well, obviously it hurts to lose a talent like Noah, especially for such a low fee. But it also hurt when he disrupted training sessions, throwing his toys out of the pram when the Wolfsburg bid was rejected."
  20. Season 1 was one that I wanted to get through quickly. I didn't have a great attachment to the team, as I haven't signed anyone yet. The coming seasons of this project will be much more in-depth on the story. My first season in management seemed like a blur. One minute the squad was welcoming me to the club, and the next we were lifting the Allsvenskan. Isaac Kiese Thelin led us to glory, scoring 30 goals in all competitions, and I couldn't be more proud of him. Johan Dahlin impressed with 38 appearances and an Allsvenskan victory at age 36. Taha Ali, Moustafa Zeidan, and Captain Christiansen all had 15+ assists. And me? I won manager of the season. My first year is complete, and it is dominance by Malmo already.
  21. I had never felt so proud of myself. In just my first season, with no transfers, I managed to do something my father had never done. Reach the knockout stage of a European competition. My side also broke the record for most points, goals, and wins in an Allsvenskan season. With the final match of the season coming up on the day of the Europa League KO round draw, I would play our younger players to get some game experience. The draw came first, and with our name being 4th out of the hat, we will face Rangers.
  22. With so much of my focus being on the Allsvenskan, it was almost a surprise that we were second in our Europa League group going into the final match. Roma sit top with 12 points, then us and Sturm Graz on 9 each, where we hold the goal difference tiebreaker. Then Maribor bottom with 0 points, and a -18 goal difference. If we don't win, we're relying on this Maribor team to beat Sturm Graz. Things couldn't have started worse for us, as Tammy Abraham scored in the first 30 seconds. After berating the team, they finally started playing football. And in the 25th and 26th minutes, Soren Rieks scored twice in just as many minutes to give us a lead and going into half time we're up 2-1! Maribor is even holding Sturm Graz to a draw! In the second half, things got even better as we scored a third. Buya Turay scored his 10th of the season in all competitions to see us through to the KO Rounds!
  23. After another dominant month or so, it's the penultimate day of the Allsvenskan season. We're 4 points ahead, with 2 matches to go. We're away to GIF Sundsvall, in a match where we have it all to play for. This is the chance to prove myself. We started incredibly, with attacking midfielder Sebastian Nanasi scoring twice in the first 40 minutes, and we would go into halftime with the lead. Then, just after the stroke of halftime, Fredrik Lundgren got sent off for GIF Sundsvall. A great chance, and I knew we had it then and there. They would end up scoring, but we secured the win 5-1, with goals from Nielsen, Christiansen, and Buya Turay to secure the title.
