  1. Olympiakos went out in 2005 with 10 points </div></BLOCKQUOTE> So did Dinamo Kiev actually. There goes my theory. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> And to further add to the list that I know off: - PSV in 2003/2004 - Werder Bremen last season Looking at the last few seasons, you could say that there is an average of one group in which it happens. But I think it's not something that will happen every season.
  2. I've had some interesting games when starting unemployed. One game in FM06 I ended up in Slovakia at Lipany, who were dead last in the second division after 4 games with only 1 goal scored. Ended the season as runner up with promotion and the following season champion in of Slovakia. A different unemployed game in FM06 saw me land a job in Iceland. But I left 4 games later due to no perspective (absolutely nobody would come) and I immediatley ended up with Molde SK in Norway with whom I finished 4th.Not a really realistic move, but still. I continued for two seasons before moving to Poland as the national team manager. I like it. But I also settle for a game with simply picking a club in some lower division or an obscure country. I've managed in every league in FM over the years. I like lower clubs.

I remember at Ayr United the board expanded to a fantastic 18,000 all seater stadium which was very snazzy, but rather over the top since we didn't average more than ~8000 and 10000 was the minimum for the SPL. That put us something like £6 million in debt which we were never going to clear. Of course if they did that nowadays it would at least be in the form of a loan to be repaid over lots of years though rather than just a massive dent in your bank balance! </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Yep, it happened to me when I promoted with Partick Thistle in CM01/02. Stadium needed improvement, costs were a whopping 20 million euro. Put me in a 17 million euro debt. Did pay it off, by using a clever transferpolicy and still finishing top 6 every season. Took me 2,5-3 years. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> And I forgot to say that it was one of the most fun games I had in CM/FM. Out of nowhere you get a new goal to achieve.

Do you honestly expect anyone to believe you're some kind of coffee-swigging die-hard slaving into the morning hours to complete some mammoth task? Gimme a break. You just add some more dressing to the window and it still takes 5 months after release to patch up 50% of the shabby holes incurred during said dressing </div></BLOCKQUOTE> It's easy to be a critic, isn't it?
  6. You should probably read up on the "second post rule" it would explain a lot </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Second post rule, you can usually see at their second post in an update whether they got it or not and possibly whether they'll learn. Correct me if I'm off, could well be. I do kind of understand it. I admit that the essence of LLM is what needs to be protected, not just in-game but also on the forum. Though I don't follow the true nature of it, I do appreciate the concept and think it's a very fine way to enhance the game. It's just that I think that the line between correcting firmly and just being rude is too thin sometimes. Though, admittedly, that could very well be due to being tired of people making the same kind of mistakes over and over. Meh, I would do the same, I stand corrected.
  7. You are aware that there is a big Suggestion-thread floating somewhere in this subforum, right? An example of listening to the community was with either FM06 or FM07 about the masked attributes and the way they should reveal themselves. There was a discussion going whether all players of clubs in the same division should be revealed after playing them or not. A lot of people contested that attributes from youth players shouldn't be revealed, as playing against the first team of a club does not reveal anything about the youth players (unless some of them play, but for them it's justified)
  8. I'd like that. If a player dives, I want to kick him in the nuts. So yes, SI, listen to this wise topicstarter and include something like it.
  9. Looking at Ter's comment, it's probably kinda hard to program this correctly. So I doubt it'll be in for FM09. Might be better to aim at FM2010, that way you have a much better chance that the job gets done properly.
  10. I've read a lot in the LLM section, I usually play some kind of LLM. I adjust it to my own likings, of course. Most people in there are nice people, but it's true that there are some not so friendly persons there. But generally speaking, it's always like that in subforums. The only thing that annoys me, is the way new people are treated sometimes. People can make mistakes and post wrong things, but it doesn't mean that they should be shot for it.
  11. In the past years I had around 3-4 corrupted saves. I hate it when it happens, cause it always happens to the really, really good saves. But it's impossible to actually blame SI for it. If the PC has a hic-up during saving, it can get corrupted. For one of the corruptions, I actually know what happened. My virusscanner started running during the saving of FM. Needless to say it crashed during saving, thus losing the savegame. Still I don't blame SI for it. It's software, nobody can program to prevent every little aspect that can go wrong. Which is usually what happens when a save gets corrupted, some little aspect that goes wrong.

Ancelotti is getting the sack cause Milan is horrendous right now in the Serie A and has been the last few years. Their last Serie A victory was back in the 03/04 season, that's almost 4 years. Yet I am getting the sack after coming second two years running to a superior Arsenal side, it's not like I am underachieving or anything like Ancelotti with the players he have. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> You havent'won the CL in two (or three?) years. You haven't won the league in two years (counting current season). You only won some cups. If the board is used to succes (which the Chelsea board probably is in your game), it's realistic.

It's not as if it's a lifegoal or something. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> But here's the thing, once I get sack I would probably just quit playing since I can't see myself managing any other sides. And I probably won't start another game after all the work I have done in this current game which I thought I could play without getting sack until FM09 comes out. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Wwait and see. You aren't sacked yet. I can't play with other sides than the one I build up either, but my saves never last that long. Mostly 3 years, then I get fed up with the club, league and players. Problem with that kind of short games is that you have to look frequently for clubs, which can be a tad annoying. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Except the case here is that I have managed them for 12 years and have developed a very special bond with my players over that period. No homo. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> It does sound a bit gay. Nah, it's logical. 12 years is a long time in-game. I really don't want to bond with the players, cause I'm the type that has a hard time offloading them when necessary.

I always voted for the option to have a "contractless" career.
