So normally when a new youth intake comes in, I would ask General Manager to sign almost all of them for cheap youth contracts. Lately because I only wants to sign the good ones, i have to approach them individually, when that happens they would want hot prospects contracts with much higher wages. Is there any ways to go around this ?

Go through them yourself and release the ones you don't want before he asks

  2. Love it  :)

I'm a Swansea fan and based on what I've seen of you guys this season I recon you've got every chance of staying up.

Went to Ipswich away around a decade ago and stayed in the pub opposite the train station for the night.  Sadly my mate who I was with had to go back to London where he lived the same night.  Was going to go home too but ended up staying and made friends with a few Ipswich fans that I still keep in contact with now.

    Congrats on the promotion

edit - speaking of user names, mine comes from when I wore a monks costume on a Swans away trip to Doncaster at Halloween, its stuck ever since

  3. It took me 20 odd seasons to get out of non-league but then I refuse to trial more than a few players and i'm not that keen on too many loans for realism sake.  My own "one hour's drive" rule made it super hard too.

When I eventually did get promoted though it was party time in my house, I took a screenshot of my promotion winning side and I'm very tempted to get it framed.

correct they are in this folder. All custom graphics packs in that folder are not being recognized

is the "g" in graphics lower case?

I remember this being an issue before

another way to do it is to go to the launch options in Steam

    • Open your Steam Library.
    • Right click the game's title and select. Properties. .
    • On the General tab you'll find. Launch Options. section.

    put the following in there

    --user_data_location="C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2024"

Paste it in exactly but obviously put whatever your username is in between the square brackets

    ok, you guys want portability.

    sorry didnt know

but, about FM working, Im a tech guy and testing FM on my PC and FM is not heavy on cpu total usage at all, it never goes more than 18% of the cpu usage when gaming, processing or in match,..

but its ram heavy and disk usage heavy.

because all that work and data and loading, its very heavy on RAM.

wich laptops always have less RAM and slower ram. also ssd's on laptops at low price points are always slower

buying a 16gb ram laptop now will be at 80% RAM usage on windows 11 when playing FM24

in 2 FM versions the 16gb will fall short. if FM24 is at 80%+ RAM usage, i cant imagine after FM25

laptops with 32GB ram are very expensive compared to pc's

recently had to update ram to play better FM25 and the ones coming next...

i know you want laptops but cheap laptops will fall short, unless you spend a lot of money

I mean that's just not true.  CPU is everything in FM.  How much is used of course will depend on how many leagues you have running and the detail level selected.  Check out the benchmarking thread to see the difference a better CPU makes.

RAM i've not overly sure on, FM seems to just use whatever you have.  Not sure it actually impacts performance.

Get yourself over to the benchmarking thread and run the tests.  You could then take out a stick of RAM and see if it makes any difference.  Even accounting for losing out on dual channel I doubt it will make too much difference.

Happy to be proved wrong though

Your test results would be greatly appreciated  :)

Sorry, I just saw this thread. I don't understand how to benchmark my PC. Should I compare my time holidaying the week with the others in order to see if my pc is low, mid or high end?

Yeah just do the benchmarks and write down your times in the format others have.

The main aim of the thread is to help people decide whether or not to upgrade their system based on comparing their own results to the others posted here.

It can also be a great diagnostic tool.  If your results are significantly lower to a similar setup on our list then you will know you may have an issue.

Your results will in turn help others as the more results we have the better it will be, either way your test results will be greatly appreciated.

  7. From an realism point of view i'd argue that the Your World  option is the way to go.

The real world option does do transfers on set dates but those may well have been done in response to injuries etc.  So for me I want to walk in on a set date and deal with the squad i've got from there on.

All personal preference though I guess

I like playing in somewhat of a new world. I select fake players only, but since that only masks real players with fake names I holiday for around 25 years so that everyone retires, and true generated players are around. This makes the game a lot more unknown since you can't rely on the same players as you do every save.

The best part of this is that you get 25 years of data to look at to make more informed decisions when it comes to players.

It also makes the game more difficult as the personalities will be a lot harder to deal with as you will have a lot of negative personalities that you can't get with real players for legal reasons

  9. Reminds me of the 3 step rule on the old SI LLM forum.

    1. Choose a team. Play the same team until you've won everything you can, regardless of how long it takes, or until you're sacked. Then start a new game.

    2. Choose a team. Play until your reputation attracts the interest of ever increasingly bigger teams; change clubs as and when you're offered jobs until you're in charge at Real Madrid, Juventus, Man Utd or a World Cup winning manager with San Marino.

    3. Choose a team. Do crap. Get sacked. Wait for another team. Do crap. Get sacked. Wait for….ad infinitum.',

Forum posts are not a reliable metric. I doubt SI base their strategies on such posts. It's a bit amusing how SI tend to be accused of ignoring bug reports but are then presumed to take heed of such posts.

Besides, sales has nothing to do with playing time. Selling more copies doesn't necessarily imply that the game is played more or that a game is objectively better.

In general, more copies of PC games are sold and revenue keeps increasing (revenue from mobile gaming is over and above). FM is simply following the general trend.

To be fair I wasn't implying they were taking/not taking notice of anything.  I'm just saying based on my experience there are as many "the game is too easy" posts as there are that its hard.  You make some fair points though, I bought FM23 and FM24 on release day and have yet to play either as i'm unable to drag myself away from my FM22 save.

  11. If they made it a lot harder this forum would be inundated with people saying the game was cheating them and that it was scripted.

We have seen it time and time again on here and that's with the current level of difficulty.

It wouldn't be my cup of tea necessarily as I'm pretty crap at the game but imagine if you could replace the current default tactics that the AI managers use with these so called "game breaking tactics".  I dare say that would ramp up the difficulty.

I'm pretty sure this is an option on CM0102 and I distinctly remember back then that it was a challenge to even make it to Christmas without getting sacked

It may not be the managers decision which kit his team wear IRL but we're not actually football managers, we're just playing a game so if watching the 3d would be awkward if the kits clash, a simple screen just prior to the match starting showing the two kits and giving the user the option to switch if they think they will clash would solve the issue

What kind of heresy is this?    :D

  13. The issue with managers buying players is that when CM/FM was first conceived managers did indeed have pretty much full involvement in signings.  At least in the UK.  It's now become such a fundamental part of the game experience that its an acceptable compromise in terms of realism.  To say as has been mentioned in this thread that it would purely be down to a DOF is nonsense.  It's becoming the trend but my guess is that really experienced managers do have a huge say in signings.  They just aren't involved in the contract side of it anymore.

I know it wouldn't happen because its one of the major attractions of the franchise but when you apply for a job at a club I think you should be told what level of control you will get over transfers.

Maybe you can even negotiate it at the interview stage.  You could then as your career progresses earn the right to be more involved in signings.

Things like choosing shirt colours a manager would never be involved in.  If there are clashes then its up to SI to fix the game to make sure it doesn't happen imo.
